It was dimly lit and quiet. Breakfast was cheap. The service was exceptional. This is where I sampled a full Irish breakfast. Bacon, sausage, baked beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, eggs, black pudding and bread. I dreaded trying the black pudding because it is made with cooked and congealed blood from cattle or pigs. For me at least the thought of eating congealed blood was unappealing but I wanted to at least try it. It's been a breakfast staple for the Irish and the British for many years. It taste like a normal sausage to me. Our lattes were delicious. The pancakes were good but tough and the french toast was basic. Their bacon is very meaty and tasty. The eggs were cooked perfectly.

It is such a busy little cafe that since the new shopping centre opened i have not been able to go there as all the tables are always full. The menu is always really good and their homemade specials are the ones i always choose. The soups and breakfasts are also not to be missed. The staff here are really friendly and chatty which makes you feel welcolm to nice wee cafe. Also the prices at the cafe are great value for money. Large portions at a very small cost. A nice wee cafe for lunch on a busy days shopping.

The menu didn't restrict itself to pasta and pizza however and I jumped at the opportunity to sample something beyond the usual vegetarian suspects; a mushroom and broccoli crepe with a white wine sauce nicely dressed salad and chips. I was not disappointed. Across the table my dining partner ordered the penne arrabiata specifying that it not come stupidly spicy, and it arrived exactly as requested. We were happy campers! The Meridian Bier Cafe has a European vibe and will serve you anything from a cuppa and a croissant to something more substantial. The selection of bottled beers and lagers is extensive. Cost-wise there are specials throughout the week, for example 2 for 1 pizzas Monday from 5pm.
