So happy to find this gem of a store!!! Amazing service with a fantastic variety. The manager walked me through each step and the installation was great!! I would recommend this local business with much respect to anyone looking for carpet or wood or luxury vinyl tile (LVT) !!!!

Wow. Amazing customer service. I am a raving fan of this company!…read more It was the fall of 2019, and hubs and I had just purchased a condo that needed everything. Full renovation. For floors, we were pretty sure we wanted vinyl plank, and visited several places around town just in an effort to educate ourselves. We wanted something nice, something that really looked like wood since we had real wood floors in our previous home (which Mercury installed about 12 years prior, great experience with them at that time, too). We quickly discovered LVP, luxury vinyl plank. But even as we narrowed to that category, the options were seemingly endless. We called Cristal from Mercury who we had worked with on our previous wood floors, and she came right out to our new place with several options, just to work through what we wanted. Cristal is so knowledgeable and sweet! A real joy... she educated us AND she listens. Long story short, we stretched our budget as far as we could get it and chose a really nice high end LVP. We were happy! Delivery came on a Friday, and the install crew began work in a Monday. The install was expected to take a week. A few hours after work began, I got a call from Cristal. Problem with the flooring... her crew had discovered the problem fairly quickly, and opened about half the boxes in an effort to find flooring that didn't have "the problem". No luck... Cristal said she had already made contact with the manufacturer to find out if they could get replacement flooring expedited... flooring without "the problem" (the problem was most of the floor wouldn't snap together properly, and those pieces that did snap together would not seat together flush, left gaps between planks). I was very grateful to the install crew for stopping install and for Cristal jumping in to sort fixing everything quickly, but I was clearly worried about our condo renovation. You know how these things go... can't do the next thing until the first thing is done, and so on. And I was on a tight deadline... our current home was sold and we needed to move out by a certain date! By the next morning, Cristal called. The manufacturer finally called to say the entire manufacturing lot had "the problem", and they wouldn't be able to replace the flooring for upwards of 6 weeks. I gasped! She quickly told me not to worry, I could pick another floor and they would rush ship it. Hubs and I LOVED the floor we had chosen, but we had no choice... we had to pick a new one. Cristal came right over with samples... by then she knew exactly what we liked aesthetically. I looked over everything and quickly narrowed down to two... after a few more minutes, I decided. Cristal said she thought I would probably choose that one and it was more expensive than my original purchase. Great.... how much more? We had already stretched our budget. Cristal said no extra charge... Mercury would give me the new floor for the same price as the old floor, AND rush ship it. I was flabbergasted. They took a situation that was not their fault and made it the best they could. Like I said, amazing customer service. The new floor came a few days later, rush shipment as promised. But now the install crew was working on a new project (they were out of work for about a week after my project fell apart). But they came in after their other project, on weekends, late at night... whenever, to get my floor installed as quickly as possible and get my project back on its timeline. There were a few tense moments with the install crew, I will admit... there were moments I thought they might be cutting corners. But looking back, they weren't. We were all stressed to the max, and the crew was working triple time. They did a good job. And miraculously they got it done, and I was very grateful. Follow up work was done a couple weeks later by Michael... he did some tweaking to the floor and trim work after my cabinets were installed. Super attention to detail and doing a job the very best it can be done, even if it takes extra time or another visit. He was amazing! All in all, this was the best experience I've ever had with a service company. I ended up with a beautiful floor that is better than the original floor I chose. But I would not recommend going through the stress of this situation to my worst enemy! Im still in awe at how Mercury took a tough situation and bent over backwards to make it better, even though they did nothing to cause the problem. There is no other company I'll ever recommend for flooring... Mercury has a customer for life!

However, everything after that has been unprofessional and unacceptable. The job on 9/4 was not finished (master bedroom, bath, and closet - only bedroom done) so they told us they would come to finish on 9/9. 11 AM rolled around, no installer. We call in and are told we were rescheduled for 9/11, to which we never received a call or an email to confirm. I had to cancel a doctor's appointment in order to be home on 9/11. Sat around waiting for an installer to show up - we get a call around 10:30 AM that the installer showed up and received a call he had a death in the family and had to leave. Mind you, I have a ring camera in front of my home and no one was ever parked in front of my house for even 30 seconds. We were told someone would call us back to reschedule yesterday - as of 1 PM today, still no call. So, I called and was informed they placed us on the schedule for 9/21, again without informing or asking, making it over TWO WEEKS that the job is still not completed. I have had exposed concrete in my home with a toddler, mind you, for over a week at this point. We had planned on using Empire to complete the rest of our home, but at this point we have ZERO confidence that they will even show up to finish the job they started. Unreliable. Unprofessional. DO NOT USE.

At 2:00 p.m., I called to find out what had happened and was told that the salesperson had noted that I was "not at home." That is completely false. I work from home and was here the entire time waiting for the appointment. Later, I received a call from the service/sales manager, who said he had spoken with the salesperson and was told that he had called me. That is also untrue. I received no phone call, voicemail, or missed call from anyone at Empire Today. This experience was extremely frustrating and a complete waste of my time. Because of the inaccurate information and poor customer service, I have no interest in rescheduling my appointment. I expected better communication and professionalism.

Installation Trauma…read more I was extremely disappointed by the service provided by Carpet One Floor and Home located in Jacksonville Beach. First, the installers were more than one hour late. Second, the lead installer wanted me to sign the completed work order before the work was completed. The door was not hung, the furniture was returned, and I had not inspected the installation. After calling the salesperson, the installers begrudgingly hung the door and returned the furniture. The lead installer stated, "I've done my good deed for the day." I was confused because my installation included furniture removal. After the installers left, I noticed dirty handprints left on my doors which I had to clean. Thirdly, upon their arrival I asked the installers to wear a mask. I could overhear one installer say "Are we still doing that?" Fourth, when I tried to vacuum the rug it was extremely difficult to push my vacuum over the carpet and the vacuum basket was full of carpet shedding. When I called the sales person she indicated that was normal. When I read the warranty pamphlet I found that this carpet required a specific vacuum due to its soft strands. A regular vacuum could damage the strands. Finally, the manager left a voice message apologizing for being late, failing to address the behavior of the installers. When I phoned the sales manager to discuss this matter and my experience, he never returned my phone call.

Unfortunately, that was not the case. I bought garbage because the way that it was installed by a friend trying to assist me, within a few years the Floor ended up splitting and breaking. It was very easy to just come in and pull up the pieces. I finally decided to call Andrew to come in and look at it. I was extremely embarrassed that I didn't use him from the get go and explained that my buddy assisted he and he cost me nearly nothing. Unfortunately that caused me a lot of problems as Andrew pointed them all out. In either case trying to save me money cost me twice the originally amount so Inlearned a value able lesson when II comes to your home never substitute quality for cheapness. So Andrew came with me and helped me pick out new flooring. We picked out a great product that was extremely reasonable but what I liked more than anything it was 20 mil thick versus 12 and I never understood the significance of that until now. It's unbelievable walking on floor. It's a totally different experience. When it comes to your home never cut corners and if you don't understand the product never take the word of a salesman. Get someone who knows and listen to what they have to say. Andrew is that guy and his work is awesome. I can't tell you how happy I am. I will be calling him back shortly for the next project!!!!

Originally I contracted another flooring installer who canceled on me multiple times. Then a neighbor of mine recommended The Flooring Craftsman. I spoke with Andrew who Is the owner. I'm very pleased and would highly recommend them !!
