We started researching companies that refinish engineered hardwood floors and found Dan's Floor Store (through Yelp). After reading the reviews, we decided to give Dan a call, and I'm so glad we did. First off let me say Dan is our hero! We had purchased a house and planned to refinish the hardwood floors and paint before moving in. We hired a different floor contractor, lined up a painter. Then the day the floor guy was supposed to start he called and said he wasn't coming, so we searched out someone else hoping they could start that day. We found someone, they came for an hour then left and never came back. So now we decided to just rent a sander and do it ourselves because we were on a tight timeline. After my husband and I did the best we could to sand the floors down I found Dan. I called him looking to just purchase the sealer to finish the floors. We told him our story, he sold us the sealer and even delivered it himself. As he was explaining the process of application he says "You really need me to do this for you". So he managed to squeeze us into his schedule and he got our floors done. He even took the time to smooth out the rough job my husband and I did on the floors. Now the floor looks amazing! A couple of years ago we decided to DIY and refinish our wood floors. Big mistake. There are some things you should DIY, this is not one of them. Being from the North, we were not familiar with engineered wood. We were unaware we had it. All was going relatively well until we sanded the engineered wood--not just in one spot, but at least 5 spots. Not knowing what we were seeing, we just kept sanding. Luckily, we had the common sense to stop. At that point we realized we had to call a professional to fix our mistakes. We called Dan and explained our dilemma and he came over right away to assess the situation. Basically, he had to redo everything we did. In addition to the white spots on the engineered wood, our sanding wasn't even and had some gouges. Dan and his crew had to remove at least 5 pieces of wood and replace them. He matched the wood perfectly, and to this day, we can't tell which pieces he replaced. He's that good. He was so good we had him replace vinyl flooring in 2 of the closets with the same wood. He did an excellent job sanding and finishing all the flooring. I know it's hard to get excited about closet floors, but he did a great job on those as well. Here we are 5 years later and decided this is the time to replace the carpet in our bedroom with hardwood. We had a really tight timetable and Dan accommodated us immediately. He also provided extras: he removed the carpet and leveled the floor which were not in the quote. When he was finished he then went above and beyond and covered all the wood floors so they could be painted. That lucky painter. I can't recommend Dan highly enough. He is professional, thorough and hard-working. He is great at his job. We couldn't be happier with the results. read more

It was a pleasure to use Dan's Floor Store for a second time to finish the front two rooms in my condo. I explained that I was having company in and if he could fit me in I would be most appreciative. Dan was able to accommodate my request after filling out paper work for compliance with the Home Owner's Association and ordering the supplies needed. He came in and followed the guidelines set by the Association and ripped out carpeting. prepared the floors and put in a good product with expert craftsmanship of his trade. I was 100% pleased with the work he and his company did. He had to move furniture, allow proper timing for the finish to cure and replace the furniture. Any debris was cleaned and removed from my fourth floor condo. Dan's Floor Store also did the front part of the condo in 2014 and I was equally satisfied with the redoing of the living room, dining room, bedroom and closet floors. Then Dan came in, refinished the floors in all the other rooms. Now they ALL match, look like every one of them is brand new. If it were possible to give Dan's Floor Store less that a one star rating, I would do so. I hired Dan to replace damaged boards in my mother's hardwood floors and to replace a portion of subflooring underneath a carpeted area. Dan installed boards that were split and/or broken. He split some existing boards that were not supposed to be removed and failed to replace the boards that he split. We discovered the split boards after he left when we were sweeping the floors because the split sections came loose in the broom. He did not sand down the new boards so that they were the same height as the existing boards. Therefore, the new boards are approximately 1/8 inch above the level of the existing boards, which becomes apparent when one walks over them in slippers or sock that snag on the thicker boards. He did not attempt to match the stain he used on the new boards to the existing boards, so it is very obvious due to the difference in stain color that boards have been replaced. After applying the finish, he dribbled polyurethane down the hallway and out the front door. He had to remove quarter round shoe moulding to replace the oak boards. He discarded the moulding and did not replace it, leaving the baseboards incomplete. He was supposed to return to apply a third coat of finish, remove masking tape, and generally clean the areas where he worked. He never returned to take care of these tasks because I made the mistake of paying him in full when he left my house. Consequently, there was no incentive for him to return other than keeping his word, about which he apparently cares nothing. When cutting out the subflooring that needed to be replaced, he severely damaged the baseboard surrounding that area. Finally, he did not remove the trash he created. He left it on the driveway and added additional trash from his truck to it, including a broken plastic lawn chair. This guy is BAD NEWS. He does terrible work and has no integrity. read more
