I went to Beachcombers with my mom and her friend on a Friday night in July around 7:30/8pm. There is no hostess, so parties seat themselves. The atmosphere is very chill. The service was good, our server was helpful and checked on the table often. The food was just okay. The pineapple-hibiscus margarita was really good. Definitely sweet and a little tangy, you could taste the alcohol but it wasn't overpowering. The Macadamia Nut Mahi was crusted with panko that tasted more like coconut than macadamia nut in my opinion. The sticky rice was bland and not sticky, it was really just like a white rice you'd make at home. The vegetable medley was okay, not bad not great. The peach-habanero wings definitely had a nice spice to them yet we're still sweet. They were tender and decent size. They're served with what's supposed to be a ranch dressing but tasted more like a cool dill sour cream based sauce. The crab-encrusted scallops were delicious. The scallops were flavorful but small. The crab on top of them was a bit gamey and the person who ordered them wasn't a huge fan overall. The Wagyu burger had no seasoning, it wasn't particularly juicy and really didn't taste like much of anything even with cheese. It was served with lettuce, tomato, and onion. The fries were standard fries, still nothing exceptional. Overall, we would recommend visiting the restaurant for drinks and appetizers but not for dinner. read more

Great find in OBX on the beach, view was nice from the bar and seating closer to the beach for sit down eating. Staff was good, friendly. The tasty tropical drinks took you away to make you feel as if you were in the tropics. We had some appetizers (mini pizza type) which were GF and good. Would recommend to stop in and try. read more

The drinks were amazing. We got the painkiller, tipsy turtle, and Mai tai. They tasted fresh and were served in cute little tiki glasses. The food was not great. The teriyaki ribeye was chewy. The tortillas on the fish tacos were soggy and the fish had no flavor. The loaded fries appetizer was good though. The ambience was great with the tiki thatched roof and twinkle lights right on the water. Our server was friendly and attentive. We had a very enjoyable dinner at Beachcombers. The staff was very friendly & helpful and the view of the ocean was lovely. We were able to bring our dog since it is all outside, and he was lovingly spoiled. I loved the tiki cocktails and the mahi mahi tacos. We realized the next day we had left something behind and the manager quickly responded to my yelp message and set it aside for us. We will certainly return if we are in the area again! read more

It seems you can only find this on Apple/google maps if you're specifically searching for tiki bars which is probably what keeps this place the perfect hidden gem. We were sat right away with beautiful views of the ocean. Drinks were your typical tiki fare and the food was pretty tasty too. I had the coco and lime chicken and my husband had their ribs and pork plate. Both we really enjoyed. Was it the best meal we've ever had, no but it was definitely delicious and the perfect end to our beach day. Waitress was also quick and attentive. The manager here has been lying about our groups experience here. Short story before long - we were not served as our group was too large. We left our two, 80 year old grandparents, and 3 people to eat there as the rest left. They were denied and kicked out as they accused them of lying about their party size. NOBODY from my party was EVER served. Long story - Sometime before attending we called to set a reservation for a group of 19. We were told they couldn't do groups that large and we were not allowed to break our groups into smaller groups. Later our group shows up to see if we can get any available seating - we don't need our group to be together. With lots of available seating we were denied any seating. Our group then split up and went to separate restaurants. We left our grandparents (80+) with 3 others to eat there. We were told there over the phone there was a 11 party max. After waiting, our grandparents were denied ANY service because they accused them of lying about their group size. The staff was rude and then posted lies after other reviews. read more

Not only was the food riddled with hair, but the customer service provided left me with a bad taste on my tongue. The customer isn't always right but when simply asking for water refills I expect civil manners. I could have forgiven the rude and short responses of the staff if the food was up to par but alas my chicken was dry and unseasoned. Will not be attending again nor recommending to anyone I know. This place is inside Ramada hotel. This beachfront restaurant not just has great views, it also serves amazing food for a reasonable price. The shout out dishes: Lobster & Crab sandwiches, the bread are toasted perfectly, with the great combination of the melted cheese with the lobster and crab meat. To my opinion, it's better than a warm butter lobster roll. Crab cakes, the 2 good sized crab cakes and a good mixed of the stir fry vegetables top with the little sweet pineapple sauce on the sticky rice. Well done! The coco Lime Chicken, I would prefer a little more vegetables like the crab cake dish. The ribs are a bit dry, would be better if add a little more sauce to the ribs. Our waitress Crystal ( her 4th days on the job) was very attentive and friendly. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner and the views. Highly recommend this place. read more

I will never, ever be back here again. I am a local here and had actually never tried this place. I went in tonight with my fiancé and his father. We sat at the bar. The bartenders seemed upbeat, like they had been laughing about something g before we got there. Upon sitting, I smelled a terrible stench. I assumed maybe it would dissipate, but it did not. Within the next 3-5 minutes, I was served my margarita and realized that my thighs and backside felt damp. I felt the seat (woven and straw-like material) and realized it was wet. I immediately realized that the smell was coming from my seat, and had soaked through my shorts. I cannot even begin to describe the repulsive smell that I was sitting in- and I cannot tell you if it was puke or feces, but it was human excrement of some sort. I immediately told my fiancé, who felt the chair as well, and we immediately started gagging. I found the nearest restroom and tried to wash my legs off while my fiancé searched for a solution. The man sitting next to us informed him that a woman was previously sitting there and smelled terrible. The two bartenders on shift agreed, and the comment was made that "she was wasted and likely sh*t herself". NO resolution was offered, my fiancé rushed to the car to get a towel for me so that I could leave after having to remove my shorts, and when he told the bartenders about what happened, and pointed out the chair I was in, the girl on shift said "Oh, I don't know what to do". No one offered anything except to comp mine and my fiancés drinks, which we didn't even get to take a sip of, and my fiancés father paid for his. I have never been so disgusted by the lack of compassion in an establishment and I will NEVER be back here. I worked in the service industry for over 13 years and could never imagine treating a patron this way. No management was contacted and no resolution was offered. read more

It's inside the Ramada Plaza. I've had both dinner and breakfast here. The breakfast is a buffet. And it's quite good. You can decorate your own donut, make your own waffle, you can get an omelet if you come early enough. It's a great deal for $9.95. The dinner menu is tiki themed and you can only eat outside at the tiki bar. The area is great though you can hear and see the ocean so it's not so bad to be outside. The burger is amazing, highly recommend. The drinks are unique. The painkiller is definitely something to try. Overall, it's definitely a good place to eat. WOSRT EXPERIENCE IN OBX. Came with family (some over 80) and were turned away for "too many people" and wouldn't let us split into separate groups. When all of our group left they REFUSED to serve the remaining 5 members of our party including the 80+ year olds! The workers were rude to our faces and it was horrible. This was a terrible experience and we felt unwelcome and mistreated. Before eating here think about how you would feel if your grandparents were kicked out of this establishment. read more

I only write this review because I believe this restaurant/tiki bar has great potential. When it comes to ocean-side views, ambiance, and attentive waitstaff, it easily gets 5 stars. When it comes to food, however, it receives a solid 2 stars. I challenge management to try some of the dishes and objectively evaluate the quality. I received the crab cake dish, allegedly with no fillers according to the menu, that came with risotto. The crab cakes were pasty, dense and tasteless, which leads me to believe they were frozen, prepackaged and indeed contained a great deal of filler. A good crab cake is a lightly seared patty barely held together and light in texture -- not the consistency of a crab-filled meatball. Its about quality over quantity. The risotto had a dense, sludgy consistency, and it was difficult to taste the coconut. Good risotto does have some binding starchiness, however, what was received seemed overcooked and likely did not have enough reconstituting liquid to keep it light. The pineapple pico had a very sharp, unpleasant taste, maybe resulting from too much combined acidity from the red onions with the pineapple. Finally, the veggies were simply just there -- just steamed with no flavor, really adding nothing to the dish. The reason I've spent so much time on describing this dish is because seafood is what people love to eat at the beach. It was one of the most expensive dishes on the menu, and for that amount, there is an expectation of higher quality. We also received the coconut shrimp appetizer, which had a nicely fried, slightly nutty crust. I hope you all improve -- because you have the potential to be so much better. read more
