I strongly believe customer service should be a factor in a review but when the greatest pizza place in LA has 3 stars it's so sad to think of all the people who will miss out on something so great because the average yelp review is 3 stars. Hopefully management addresses the consistent customer service reviews because I don't want to see this place disappear. I'm adamant that it's my favorite pizza in SoCal. I visited the MB location for years and crave it all the time since we now live in Dallas completely devoid of good solid pizza. Why is it so good? Perfect thickness of crust - not thick, not thin. I was excited to try Beach Pizza as the reviews were quite good and we have yet to find a GREAT pizza place in LA for some reason. Anyways, I ordered a medium Buffalo Chicken and medium Veg-TERRANEAN. Brought them home (did take out) to eat and enjoyed the 4 slices we ate each. Next day, looking forward to having leftover slices, took a bite out of the 5th slice and bit into something crunchy. Hmm. Thought it was chicken bone perhaps. Unfortunately?? it was not. It was a large (almost quarter-size) hard pointy piece of plastic!! It was cooked into the dough and under the cheese. Like seriously, how the hell did that get in there!?!? It was big - if I can add pictures to this review I will - but seriously it was over an inch long and wide! Thank God my 19 month son didn't bite into this piece! As he did have a slice the night before (we cut it up into smaller pieces). So, I called Beach Pizza right away to talk to the Manager to A - let them know, and B - ideally at least get my money back for eating plastic-infused pizza. The person I spoke to on the phone said the "manager wasn't in right now" but he will take a message. So, I told him about what happened and left my number to have the Manager call me back. Beach Pizza definitely deserves higher than their current 3 star rating they have on Yelp. I've tried a few of their pizzas and everyone who gives this place a low rating has not tried their XL (16 inch) thin crust Hang Ten pizza. Seriously, do not order anything else besides this. You have to get XL because the pizza to crust proportion is perfect and just hits the spot differently. Their thin crust is not a true thin crust but is exactly what my taste buds look for where the dough doesn't overwhelm the pizza, yet complements the flavors so well. It's essentially the slim fit between the regular fit and skinny fit. Lastly, the toppings always tastes fresh and they give you a hefty portion of it. If this spot only served the XL thin crust Hang Ten pizza, I guarantee you that it would have at least 4.5 stars on Yelp. By the way, I saw a XXL (18 inch) thin crust version on Postmates so I had to try it and it is even more epic! read more

Beach Pizza has potential, and it's very convenient, right in my apartment building. They've been open for a few weeks, but the first week they only served pizza. Still waiting for their sign and menu board. Prices are very reasonable. They are still working the kinks out of the service, which can be a bit slow. Some of the staff don't know the menu yet. Manhattan Man Pizza - perfect crust, crisp and chewy, tangy sauce, good cheese sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms and peppers. A real authentic back East pizza. Sausage Calzone - nice presentation, with melted cheese on top and marinara, but the crust was soggy and the filling was not cooked. Hot Italian Hero - great, just like a joint in the Bronx Ravioli - generous serving with garlic bread and salad, nice cheese filling. I ordered the ravioli with bolognese sauce, but she didn't know what that was (it's on the menu). She asked the cook. Still have to try the wings. I don't know about a Philly cheese steak with mayo, lettuce and tomato (LA style?). I'll also give them another try on the calzone. 10/31 I've become somewhat of a regular, going here 2-3 times a week since they opened, trying to work my way through the menu and see what's good. Went back tonight to try the lasagna. They were too busy with delivery orders so they would not serve any pasta or hoagies. Tried to order a pizza and I was discouraged from waiting. I ordered a thin crust Popeye and Olive Oil Pizza and a piece of cheesecake through Grubhub to be delivered to my home. The pizza was pretty good, but the "cheesecake" was NOT cheesecake - it was a piece of yellow cake with frosting - maybe a cream cheese frosting, but it was NOT cheesecake. Anyway, I called the restaurant to tell them I had received the wrong dessert, and the woman I spoke with said, "I'm sorry, but that IS our cheesecake." Huh? Here's how the cheesecake is described on their menu: "Classic cheesecake with a rich, dense, smooth and creamy consistency." She said this is how they make THEIR cheesecake. Okay, but don't call it a "classic cheesecake" then! I also noticed that I was charged $5.99 for the "cheesecake," but it's only $4.99 on their website. The Beach Pizza person said that Grubhub can "mark-up" the food. I then checked the pizza price - $17.99 on the Beach Pizza website but I was charged $22.99! So, they marked up the food by $5.00 plus charged me a $4.99 delivery fee. However, Grubhub did give me a $7.00 "promo code" discount so I guess I still came out $2.00 ahead. But I think this is very deceptive on Grubhub's part. Meanwhile, all the Beach Pizza person said was that she would "tell the manager" about the cheesecake issue. Although she was pleasant, you think she would have offered me something - at least a credit on the dessert, which I didn't finish - it was way too sweet. So I've been coming here since they were in a different location, decades ago. My go-to was always the Maui Wowie, which has always been pineapple, ham, extra thick crust, and extra cheese, and is still listed as such online. Over recent years, I've found delivery apps always try to make thick crust an extra charge, even though the beach pizza menu always included it. So, craving some Maui wowee a few weeks ago, I ordered over the phone to pick up in person, so I'd get the thick crust and extra cheese. To my dismay, upon picking up, I was given a pizza without the thick crust. The man helping me (I assume the owner?) told me the calls have been outsourced to the Philippines and so if I wanted extra thick crust, I needed to tell them. This makes no sense- it literally is listed on the website as having thick crust, that's redundant, right? Wrong, the new menu in the store doesn't have the extra thick crust. I can't remember if it even has extra cheese. So buyer beware- the online menu may not correlate to the in-store menu, or to delivery app menus. Disappointed. I really wanted this place to be good. It didn't even come close to what I would consider good pizza. I ordered a simple 14" cheese to go. It was doughy, floppy and really greasy. The sauce was vacant of any real flavor and the crust wasn't crispy at all. Ohhhhhhh Beach Pizza, how I hate you so. Your employees need to work on their customer service skills. I mean who owns this place? So many people have made the same comment in their reviews and yet the staff doesn't change its ways. Today's visit started off ok. No one was really there when I stopped by to pick up my carry-out order from this blonde girl with finger tattoos. I paid and then took a seat to wait on the order since the cashier didn't mention that it was ready yet. A couple of other people came and picked up their orders and left. I'm still sitting there and happened to notice a takeout order just waiting on.the counter. All employees say nothing about this order. After looking over the menu I'm waiting to be called, I walk up to the counter and ask the cashier if that was my order. She said, "oh,did you have the garlic knots and the Caesar salad?"
