I always come here to get fresh seafood. The owner is a very nice guy. He is always upbeat and friendly. He carriers scallops, blue crabs, soft shell crabs, fish, she crab soup, seasonings, and etc. The prices are reasonable for seafood. He's open 7 days a week rain or shine. This is my go to seafood market, especially since its at the Farmers Market. I can kill two birds with one stone and get other goodies from the others stores as well. So basically this is the spot!!!! Lol. U can't go wrong with seafood...

Outer Banks Boil Company should really change its slogan to: "You buy it, you pick it up, you cook…read moreit, and somehow you still tip us." Don't get me wrong--the seafood was fresh, tasty, and the seasoning was spot on. The problem isn't the food. The problem is the sticker shock when you realize you just paid $115 for what amounts to about 2 clusters of crab legs, roughly 1.5 pounds of shrimp, a few ears of corn, some red potatoes, onion slices, butter, and Old Bay. For that price, I was expecting a feast worthy of a pirate king. Instead, it felt more like a very expensive scavenger hunt where I still had to go home and cook everything myself. The biggest surprise? The tip prompt when you pick it up. So let me get this straight: I place the order, drive to get it, carry it home, boil it myself, clean up the kitchen afterward, and I'm still being asked to tip on top of premium pricing? That's a bold business model. The included boil bucket is nice, but unless that bucket is secretly paying my electric bill and washing the dishes afterward, it's hard to justify the cost. Bottom line: The food is good. Really good. But for $115, I couldn't help thinking I could have made the same meal from the grocery store for around $45 and had enough left over for dessert and a six-pack. If convenience is your thing, go for it. If value is your thing, bring your own bucket.

The new location has only half of what I bought at Jefferson Avenue in Newport News (not the other store on Warwick blvd.) E-Mart was relocated virtually overnight and without warning to Virginia Beach from Newport News. Did an army of marauders lug everything south or was it quantum tunneling and computer modeling that displace matter within space...? World Market in Newport News is the new E-Mart and has only furniture, not the Asian food I was looking for. Instead, I went next door to Fresh Market and bought two bags of red, white and blue potato chips. The woman of color behind the counter knew I understood what they had done. She said something out of context with my shopping trip: "It's my turn now." As if reparations are my duty to the world and I have to hand over the American legacy on a silver platter to make things right. Oh, so that's why you keep moving things around. Okay! Don't look at me if you want 40 acres and a mule because thanks to the local radical left politicians and reverse discrimination I have neither. This is a shell game. Someone is practicing psyops.

It's located in the Vibe district, so even if you have no intention of making a purchase, it's a wonderful Saturday morning walk. Parking is plenty and it's so close to the sand that you can stroll to the beach. They are open every Saturday 9-noon (May-Oct) and every 3rd Saturday 9-noon (Nov-April). This is also a pet friendly market. Parking is street parking or there is a small free parking lot nearby. Old Beach farmers market has over 30 vendors each weekend. You can find fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, eggs, seafood, flowers, cheese, mushrooms, sauces, baked goods, tea and much more. You can even find a food truck. Some of my favorite Vendors are: Capstone Mushrooms, they always have a great selection of Oyster mushrooms (blue, pink, gold, king) , beech, Chestnut, lions Mane and shiitake. They sell grow kits if you want to try your hand at growing your own as well as extracts and blends you can add to your soups, sauces or drinks. Life is Gouda, they sell a variety of cheese based spreads. My favorite is the smoked gouda. It goes great with crackers, celery and carrots, a must try! Cromwell's Produce & Fritillary farm is my go to for fresh produce. This market does have a few produce vendors to choose from but I frequent these two the most. They always have fresh greens and fruits that are in season. Nick B's Chimichurri sells absolutely the best chimichurri sauce. It has a long shelf life and doesn't need to be refrigerated. This Sauce goes great on everything, steak, chicken, fish, lamb, even a chip. I find the prices to be very reasonable and comparable to the large chains. Definitely recommend stopping by and supporting small business and local farmers.

Overall, I've had consistently great experiences, which is why I wanted to share both the positives and one area that could use some attention. The Fresh Market has one of the best meat counters around. Their filet mignon is my go-to purchase, and it's always been outstanding. Their produce is consistently fresh, and I also love their bakery. They regularly offer unique seasonal and specialty baked goods that are always worth trying. Today, I decided to order their fresh bruschetta because it's not something many stores carry. I was excited to try it, but unfortunately, when it arrived, it didn't look fresh at all. Even though the container is dated to expire tomorrow, it had a milky appearance that made it look unappetizing and, in my opinion, not safe to eat. I understand that products can occasionally slip through the cracks, but I think this is something that should have been noticed before it made it into a customer's order. Whether it's during stocking, by the department team, or at checkout, I hope more attention is given to products that no longer appear fresh, even if they're still within the sell-by date. Overall, this one experience won't keep me from shopping at The Fresh Market. I still highly recommend them for their excellent meat department, fresh produce, bakery, and the convenience of delivery. I just hope they take a closer look at product quality so future customers don't have the same experience. So the next morning I woke up with the intention of drinking my Bizzy Expresso Cold Brew Coffee only to find it expired a month ago which is very concerning and disappointing! It tells me that stores are not paying attention to their products!!
