I have been a member here since it first opened and am still amazed by the sense of community, the caliber of instructors, and the overall vibe here. I hoghlu recommend this yoga studio for any level of yoga. They have something for everyone!

Are you looking for a yoga studio where you can fly under the radar and come and go unnoticed? If so, this studio is not for you. 1. I bought a Groupon as a returning student and Carrie worked with me to switch to the right monthly package. She was super nice an accommodating. 2. Lizzie calls and checks in with you during your first month to see how things are going. She's so sweet. 3. All the teachers are fantastic and helpful. They provide the right amount of feedback and adjustment. I've taken classes with Michelle, Heidi, Seth, Linda B, and Christina. Lots of variety in classes. There is plenty of street parking. If you forget your hair tie, they have some at the front desk. Rumor has it, the left side of the studio is cooler than the right.

With the announcement of in-studio classes resuming with above and beyond Phase Two precautions being met, I decided it was time to head back into Aya. With 3 kids and a partner all home all the time, streaming and/or video classes just don't work for me. I was extremely nervous about participating in an indoor, public activity so I reached out to the owner, Carrie. Her response was understanding, caring, and reassuring, so I took the plunge! The studio has always been kept immaculate, even pre-Covid, but Carrie and her husband Steve have gone to great lengths to do everything within their control to keep their instructors and students healthy. Class sizes are limited to far less than the 25% capacity required in phase 2 (only 6 students per class!), they keep doors open (don't worry, the heat works well!) for ventilation, they've brought in new air purifiers, and masks are required for everyone. Of course, it still felt strange coming into an indoor, public space after nearly a year of avoiding this kind of thing, but it is clear that Carrie and Steve understand the importance of distancing, masking, and ventilating to keep folks healthy. As for the yoga itself, Aya is a place that will meet you where you are. Instructors understand pandemic life has taken a toll on our physical activity and there is zero judgement. I am not even close to being in the physical (not to mention mental/spiritual) shape I was in a year ago and I feel cared for as I take the scary step into practicing yoga again.

I have been doing yoga for years at different studios- it's rare for me to find a studio where a lot of the teachers' styles work for me; usually I can only find a few. Here, for some reason, there are many teachers that I like, ones that are gentle, ones that are gentle and tough :) , and ones I learn a lot from. Heart Center trains yoga teachers too. That matters to me even though I am not a yoga teacher because they have a focus on the eight limbs of yoga, how yoga can apply to ones' whole of life, not just exercise. It's not intrusive or anything, but for me it feels good to be around people who are optimistic about life and helping others to heal and make their lives better. The owner, Faith, really has a sense of how to make that happen. The entrance to this studio is in a back alley- don't let that put you off. Inside is a world-class studio. Highly recommended.

The instructors are attentive and bring a level of heart and awareness for what is needed in the moment that I have struggled to find elsewhere. The exterior is deceiving in the heart of White City with an entrance from the alley, my first visit had me trepidatious upon arrival; however, from that first class to this day when I walk through the doors, I am instantly flooded by a sense of serenity that I struggled to find elsewhere. It is a 30 minute drive from my home, but every class is worth it. So many experiences I have at the Heart Center take me back to the beautiful yoga I experienced in India. I highly recommend this place. Everyone who has walked through the doors with me feels the same! Whether it is for yoga, reiki, hypnosis, or other alternative treatments or training, I have found joy and awakening in being a part of this community.

She also has such a thorough knowledge of the body and all the muscles and nerves, and has prescribed me great exercises to help me keep my pain at bay and become stronger (I don't always do the exercises, but that is my fault! Haha) Yesterday I saw her massage therapist Laura for the first time and she was also great! She really knew just where to apply pressure to help relieve intense tension that I've had for years. I already feel like my range of motion in my shoulders has improved after one session! I'm so glad Christi has opened up her own clinic, I've had nothing but great service from her and her staff

Nearly a year and a half later, I received a bill totaling close to $2,000--despite the sessions being basic stretching exercises. I contacted Kintsugi to understand the charges and the delayed billing. I was told the coding was done by the therapist and that the billing came from a third-party company--not Kintsugi. However, the bill had Kintsugi's name and contact number, which makes the attempt to shift responsibility feel dismissive and unprofessional. Not only were the charges excessive for simple stretching, but I also stopped attending because I could perform these exercises independently. What's most disappointing is that the billing was delayed until I was no longer working and on a very tight budget. This timing added unnecessary financial stress. During my call, the person I spoke with said he would inform the owner but couldn't offer any resolution. He later left me a voicemail saying he felt I was mad at him, which struck me as odd--I never made any personal remarks, nor did I direct any frustration toward him as an individual. The experience reflects poorly on Kintsugi's business practices and, ultimately, on the leadership that enables them.
