New HVAC filter, reset breaker. Thermostat batteries are fine. Still not kicking on. Sent Yelp message to RES because they have always been quick to respond. And they did this time as well and the woman who gave me a call was nice and tried to help. Pretty disappointed that they can't quickly swing by today. From what I've read, it's likely a dirty flame sensor or the ignitor switch (neither of which is a long job - I just don't have the tools). HVAC less than 5 years old, so parts are under warranty with RES; however, I had to call someone else. Bottom line: Someone else is coming today, but I could end up paying for parts. Kind of feels like my current needs weren't lucrative enough for RES to make a concerted effort to swing by.

I had several additional requests which they accommodated such as adding an extra drain line and additional return vent and all the work was done as requested. Since completion of the job, they have come back on routine maintenance visits to keep the system up and running and the cost of which was included with the original work. I therefore. have been very pleased with after-installation service. Separately, I used them for plumbing, specifically replacing a sink faucet, repairing a garbage disposal, and repairing a leaky shower fixture. I was very pleased with this service as well. Especially the garbage disposal because all it needed was a minor turn of a crank to loosen it up instead of a full replacement, which saved me a significant amount of money. Obviously, overall, I'm very happy with their services. I will be using them again and highly recommend.

It's unbelievable but some companies required upfront deposit even before assessment of the issue. I called next morning and next business day he returned and completed repair. Again on time, very professional and leave no dirt or waste after job. Prices are horribly high now everywhere, but plumbing can't be avoided,so their price point is adequate to area, but service is superb. Can't deduct star for high prices, because they are using gas and supplies which are horrible now.

Called Friday morning and the receptionist was amazing and got someone to our house that morning. Full diagnostic told us the compressor went bad. Our unit was 13 years old, so it was about time for a new system. We decided to replace whole system as replacing a compressor is quite expensive basically half the cost of a new one. Mike came that night to price out a new system. I got two quotes from other companies. But decided on Shanahan because of their reputation, service as well as pricing. Talked with Mike and Conner (the owner) about our options and they came on a Saturday to install even though they didn't have an opening until Thursday. The owner himself came with a couple guys and replaced our system. They were very polite, did excellent work and we were back up and running. Plus they had very affordable pricing. These guys care! I am a disabled senior. This review documents objective facts regarding HVAC services provided by…read moreBluestar Air Mechanical Inc. across two of my properties, identifying the specific staff involved. Alexandria Multi-Level Townhome Installation Diagnostic Visit (Isaac): Technician Isaac condemned my original AC unit as completely "dead" immediately upon arrival, without opening the service panel or performing electrical or refrigerant pressure tests. Salvage vs. Installation (Walter? & Karol?): Walter and Karol? spent extensive time meticulously extracting the original unit intact to preserve all components, while spending minimal time securing and properly installing the replacement machine. Undersized Equipment: For my 1,830 sq. ft. multi-level loft townhome, Bluestar installed a 2.5-ton National Comfort Products through-the-wall AC unit that is physically less than half the size of my original machine, leaving massive voids around the wall opening. Life-Safety Fall Hazard: The machine sits near the roofline several stories above a ground-level driveway. It rests inside the oversized opening without dedicated structural framing, a properly fitted sleeve, or mechanical mounting brackets to anchor it. Massive Gaps & Exterior Visibility: Gaping openings were left on the sides, so wide that I can clearly see neighboring townhomes and direct outdoor daylight from inside my utility closet. Soft Foil Tape & Expanding Foam: The top of the machine was sealed with only soft silver foil tape and flexible wrap rather than a rigid sheet metal transition or structural collar. Into the open side voids, Karol? messily sprayed orange expanding foam instead of constructing proper framing, trim, or weatherproofing. Severe Noise & Vibration: When activated, the unit generates extreme operating noise and structural vibration felt throughout the living areas. Missing Property: A step stool kept in my utility room went missing immediately after the crew packed their gear and departed; I am continuing to check my home to ensure nothing else is missing. Communication Evasion: Karol? conversed easily in English upon arrival, but suddenly claimed not to understand English when questioned about the open gaps, lack of framing, and spray foam. Dismissive Management (Lyn): I sent Lyn multiple detailed text messages and photos documenting my serious safety concerns, questions about the oversized opening, and the complete lack of structural support. Despite being fully informed of the severity and specifics of the hazard, Lyn trivialized the issue before 8:07 am on Sep 16, only replying that she would send someone back merely to "clean that up," offering no plan for structural framing or proper sleeve installation. Washington, D.C. Property Service Undelivered Documentation (Isaac): I was charged a significantly higher inspection fee specifically contracted to include an official written cause-of-damage report and a formal repair estimate for an insurance claim. Technician Isaac completed the on-site visit, but no written report or cost estimate was ever provided, despite multiple follow-up requests sent directly to both Lyn and Isaac. Licensing Verification: Bluestar explicitly confirmed prior to the appointment that the technician held a D.C. HVAC license, but no license number or proof of licensure was ever furnished. Based on these documented facts, I cannot recommend Bluestar Air Mechanical Inc. to other homeowners or seniors.

Jary (who helped us when we first moved in) came out on Tuesday and said we had a leak somewhere since the closed-system unit was totally out of coolant. He came back Weds. to do the leak detection and found the leak, recommended a new coil. We had the new coil installed on Friday; this time it was Ricardo and team that did the work installing the coil. They did a great job and a couple hours later our house was back to normal temperature. Gabriel helped us with all the coordination and estimates and seeing if the part was still under warranty (it wasn't, but I didn't expect it would be honestly.) No one likes spending a bunch of money on repairs but I'm very confident that the recommendations Jary made were sound and correct. He did not attempt to upsell me at all, which is greatly appreciated. (The estimates Gabriel sent did include options for replacing the unit, but that wasn't necessary at this time and there was no pressure to do so.) I will continue to call them if we have issues in future with our HVAC system.

They also wouldn't give me a time window for the tech to come. They only give a date and tell you that they will call when they're on their way. This meant that I had to be available all day and couldn't plan anything else. I called the main line and got a human, but she had zero empathy and said that I had to just wait to be contacted when the tech was on his way. When the guy finally got to the house, he told me it would be $350 just to discover the issue. I said no. But before I said no, he told me that my issue could be anything, and he could likely find it within 2 hours, and that I could possibly need a whole new panel (at least $10,000), depending on what he found. He said my panel looked old and potentially overloaded ...despite the fact that this panel has worked just find for over a decade!! The next day, another electrician came out, and for $150 (still high IMHO), he determined, within 20 minutes that the issue was with the line coming into the house from the power company. So, I called the power company, and they came out the same day and fixed their equipment line... FREE.

However, the mis-management of this company combined with the lack of attention to detail of the majority of technicians we've had out these past two years has led to repeated customer service failures. I've captured more detail details below if you want more than an overall summary rating. Be forewarned their technicians are nice, and at the end of the appointments, which may only be diagnostic and not actually the fix because they need to wait for parts and then to come back (which has been where the majority of our issues have been), they ask you to give them a five star review so the technician gets a $25 performance gift card, which skews overall service ratings. Most recently our 4 year old, warranty covered, HVAC broke again (4th time since a company bought out by FH Furr installed and FH Furr fixed 3x before). It happened on a Saturday night, and we called first thing Sunday morning. They told us the technician who had the part we needed was off that day so we had to schedule for later in the week. We were out of town 4 days, then the morning of our apt, 45 min into the arrival window, we got a call saying the technician has the wrong motor, they will have to order a new part, and then when they get it in a few days they will call to reschedule. This our final straw but keep reading for more history. Something just like that happened before on our HVAC. But in that case they ordered the wrong part so we had to wait for the first part to come in, then wait for the right part to come in. During another HVAC fix they identified an issue, ordered a new part, installed it, then ID'd a second issue. I appreciated that the technician was forth coming that they should have caught that during the first diagnostic call and apologized we would have to wait for a part again. The fact that they took ownership would have made this fully forgivable if we didn't have so many other issues. They also ordered a part for a fix that was supposed to come in in a few days but I called a week later and it still hadn't come in. I called 4-5 days in a row, then finally I asked to speak to a manager and they said they can use a different, universal part instead of continuing to wait. It wasn't clear why there was such a huge difference from when the first technician said the original part would come in vs the actual timeline, but I suspect based on some of my first calls that the part might not have been ordered at all until I first called to check on it. We had a toilet not fully flushing upstairs and they quoted us $200 to fix it, but recommended the toilet itself may continue to have problems because of the design unless we replace the whole thing, so we should consider that long term. After half an hour on YouTube, and an $8 part from the local hardware store, my husband was able to fix it himself and we haven't had an issue again in the last 6 or 7 months since that issue. A theme you may pick up on is how often I have had to call them for follow up. Some of the technicians will admit that if you don't hear by xx day from dispatch, you should call them and ask if your parts have come in yet. We have definitely found that to be true on both HVAC and toilet calls. In our experience it could also be hours before a manager calls you back if you ask to speak to one. We bought the maintenance membership so we have tried to make this work, but at this point I can't waste anymore time micro managing nor can we rely on them to be responsive or do a job right. Save yourself the stress and money, avoid this company.
