The owner, an older German woman, is very sweet and cares about keeping her shop up. Not the most organized, but the movie selection is good and there are plenty do tabletop games!! Has a large selection of comic books. Pricing is a bit on the high side. Newer comics were $11-$15 on average and those that were not priced were "looked up" at the register. Not sure how they were looked up as I was charged $11 for one book that I saw later on EBay for sale at half the price. Did have a huge selection of paperback books and movies! read more

I've gone there multiple times and it is never open. I drive by sometimes just see if the open sign is on. It looks like an abandoned house which at first I thought was cool but now I think it really is. Seeing as this is the only comic book store in the area I would like to check it out so I can give it a better review. read more

Only thing worth doing here is having this woman who has 0 knowledge of comics order new releases for you. I brought up a back issue and she priced me at the counter, no books off the newsstand have prices on them. Poor organization and almost all books are not in bags. Everything is her looking it up and the shop is extremely small with not a great selection, if you found a hidden key she'd charge you whatever her site tells her to. No slabs, large focus on movies and DnD, she has no idea what her comic inventory even is. read more

BCS Books, Comics and Video is undoubtedly the worst comic book store I have ever visited. The first time I pulled up to it I thought I had to have copied the address down wrong, because the business itself looks like a house that you'd find deep in the worst kind of ghetto neighborhood. Chipped paint on the siding, a roof that clearly needs work, and a cracked foundation greet you, but not before you attempt to maneuver your vehicle into the smallest parking lot ever built, avoiding potholes that have probably been there for years. I wouldn't be surprised if people who own businesses in the surrounding area whispered "sinkhole" in frightened tones. The inside of the store is cramped and ill-organized. It is not readily apparent where to find new floppies or old. You can apparently rent videos from the establishment, but browsing is basically out of the question because all the films I saw were located behind the counter, where you'd need a telescope to view the titles. I wasn't completely familiar with the comics scene in College Station when I first moved here, so when I first came to this store I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt. I ordered an "Invincible" Trade Paperback and was subjected to the longest wait of all time as the (admittedly very patient and kind) cashier attempted to look up my product in an archaic computer system featuring the most convoluted database of all time. She had never heard of Invincible before, and when I tried to explain that it was a book published by Image comics, I wound up having to explain exactly who Image WAS. Image may not be as old as Marvel or DC, but they're by no means newcomers, and for several years now they've had a wealth of excellent material getting them a lot of press. I must take a moment here to recognize BCS for one thing: Those people know their Japanese pop culture. If you're interested in anime or manga, their staff will give you the world on a silver platter. If, however, you're more like me, you go to the comic shop for some very specific floppies and the occasional indie graphic novel ("Blankets," or "Ghost World," for instance). BCS is not the store to help you with that. My Invincible book took so long to get in that I finally gave up and ended up finding exactly what I needed at Lytle's Comics and Games with no wait whatsoever. I waved goodbye to BCS at that very moment. I'll try to wrap this up as succinctly as I can: Merely walking into that store made me feel a little dirty. I felt like I'd stepped into a Dungeons and Dragons game being held in somebody's basement. I wasn't wearing a cape and I didn't smell like french fries so I certainly didn't fit in with the atmosphere. BCS represents everything that comic shops need to get away from. I cannot give the most fair review of it recently because I've not been there in a while, I was banned from this establishment back in 2008 or so for creating a local competing game store. My roommate and I had just seen a commercial on Adult Swim advertising Magic: The Gathering, and we decided to check out where we could play FNM locally. Lorwyn had just come out and we had both played a little before, but really we were big newcomers. The first thing we noticed when we walked into the poor lit entryway was that there wasn't much room to walk around, and we were both puzzled about how you could fit a magic tournament in the room. As 7:00PM started to roll around we found out that the real "magic" happened in the side room that had home made tables and kindergarten chairs. Being a 6'4", 300 pound man, I was not very at home in these chairs. The draft went really well, and we had a lot of fun, but that was the night I decided we needed to change some things. Soon I began to bring my own folding chair, and that was just the beginning. I started running magic tournaments, I brought my own laptop and provided as much support as I could. My friend Mike and I had managed to make local MTG tournaments a really big deal, and we tried our best to make the store successful. What ended up happening is we got too big for the venue. We had to pull tables outside that had no legs and sit them up on cardboard boxes, play sitting on the ground in the grass with the wind blowing cards around, and we argued endlessly about the poor prize support. But we had so many fun nights in this place, and that's why I feel it cannot be a one star for me. There were late nights listening to the class rock radio station on our little shitty boom box in the side room, staying there until 4 AM on a Friday night just to play one more game of MTG because Dagmar had trusted us enough to lock that side room and make sure nothing bad happened to it. We protected it too, because it was our fortress to get away from all the crap that happens during the week and have a drunk team draft or just shoot the shit. I noticed Lytles was mentioned in another review, and I'd like to recommend anyone checking out MTG now go take a look at Clockwork. It's bigger, and less personal, but it's cleaner, and the players are friendly, and we really only look to foster a stronger MTG community, which is what I strove for when I finally decided to turn my back on this place. read more

Welcome to Bryan, Texas: home of the sketchiest "comic book store" ever. I put that in quotations because it has to be a front for something. Yes, it is in a sketchy, dark, old house in the corner of an even sketchier parking lot. But it gets a lot better for this home of "comics, books, and games." As soon as we walk in, we see that the actual comic book store part of the place takes up the size of an average apartment's kitchen. Wait, not average. Think Dallas, one bedroom average. On one wall are the comic books, and on the other is way too many D&D books. I check the list of new releases from the cashier who looked to be around 60 years old with a 7 day beard and a stained black t-shirt. I see that the new Deadpool and new Kick-Ass 2 came out. As soon as I said the second title, he said "sold out" (first words he said to me since I walked in). Note that this is about 2 hours after they opened on a Wednesday in BRYAN. I say OK and head towards the marvel for Deadpool. He then said that they were sold out of ALL NEW MARVELS. This has never happened to me ever. And it's pretty hard to believe that every nerd in Aggieland descended upon this store within two hours like ravenous vultures yearning for the meat of superheroes. Rather than get a DC comic, I opted to leave. The only thing the cashier said to me was "sold out." Twice. The girl then mentions the beaded doorway that lead to the rest of the store (60% of the actual store). Oh, and did I mention that this place used to be a porn shop? I think they must've gone back after old customers, because something serious sketch is going on there. Long story, short: When traveling to the country on comic book release day, have your local shop keep your comics on hold for you. Or you'll risk reenacting that dungeon scene from Pulp Fiction. read more

As an proud member of the BoardGameGeek culture, I wanted to praise BCS Books, Comics & Video for providing a service to the local gamers of Aggieland. And I'm not talking about Monopoly, Sorry, Clue, etc. The owner is very knowledgeable about euro-games (Dominion, Settlers of Catan, Puerto Rico, Carcasonne, Descent, etc.). These are not your normal games and without BCS in town, our closest store is 90 miles away in Houston or Austin. So if you're a true boardgame afficienado in Bryan/College Station, please stop by and look at their selection. If you don't see what you're looking for they will find it and get it in the store for you. And if you want to talk boardgames, I have been pleased at the knowledge of the owner. She talks with a german accent and obviously knows her euro-games. And finally, I'm not a big Magic The Gathering fan, but based on the traffic I see in the store, she supplies a large portion of cards to the local MTG gamers. She also hosts local tournaments and I believe there are regulars that show up to play MTG in a dedicated room at the store. So, please support "THE" local game shop. The other comics and games store in College Station (Lytle's) tends to lean solely on the tabletop war games like Warhammer. *** BCS Books, Comics & Videos is a not-so-well-know gem in our local community. *** read more

I have had questions about some "heavy" board games and if the owner doesn't know the answer, there is a customer there that CAN help. I went here a lot around 5 years Ago, but recently went back a week ago. I ordered a comic book (that was out for only like 5 days, and NO STORE) had it, so I placed an order. When I was younger I used to have Quick mail times, the longest I ever had was 5 days. But now, it will take around 3 weeks. If I was to wait that long, I could have ordered it myself, but I wanted to have some faith in my local town... Which disappointed me. Then what is worse is that she was to call me the next day I after I ordered it to tell me the time. Well, I had to call her. And the man who answered had no idea when it was to come in.... I just called again a week later and was told it was going to be another 2 weeks... They're nice, but really guys?! read more

They rent anime movies but don't stock Studio Ghibli because someone stole them. I asked when that happened and was told "a long time ago". You'd think if it was a long time ago they'd have restocked what are some of the most popular anime titles, but I guess they don't have the money to buy some more copies and secure them (or keep them behind the counter?). The building is falling apart and the staff are standoffish. If you want magic cards, there's tons of other places to buy them besides here; unless you just feel like giving them your business out of sympathy, there's no real reason to shop here. read more

While the outside of the shop might not be what you expect, the inside will make up for it. There are very few places to go in regards to purchasing comics in the B/CS area. I've been to the comic store at Post Oak Mall, and while the selection is quite a bit larger, the customer service is completely lacking. When I go to BCS Books, Comics & Video I feel welcomed. The lady on the inside knows me by name (it's a shame I've forgotten hers) and she is incredibly helpful. If there is something I need she is more than willing to order for me. I pick up a few comics monthly as they come out and she has added my name to a list so that when the new issues arrive, one is set off for me. The selection is more than adequate considering the area we live in. If this were Houston or Austin this shop wouldn't cut it, but it's Bryan, Texas. read more

This comic book/ gaming store does not look like much from the outside, but is one place I really enjoy going to. I will never enter another comic book/ gaming store ever again knowing the experiences I have had in this one. The owner is wonderful and the time I have spent gamin here is also wonderful. I am not the greatest Magic player, but nobody ever complains about me drafting on Friday nights or going to pre-release events. The collection of products she has is amazing. Yes, there is limited space to place her products, but there is a wide selection of comics, videos, books and games. If you can't see what you are looking for, just ask. The owner is very good about helping you find things and she even will take the time to explain products to you that, for you, may ne new. If you have never been here, take the time to go inside and see what the place is all about. Don't judge the book by its cover, but go inside, take a look and talk to the owner. She is there just about every day it is open. read more
