BCAA apparently is the sister-arm of AAA as we needed help with our car in Canada. Customer service was helpful. We were able to coordinate our car back to the USA with no issues. read more

The place is now much more modern/fancy than 20+ years ago when I used to go there often to get the driving maps and travel guide books. I think that was the main reason I was a member then. Planning road trips to the USA using the guidebooks and maps, getting the special AAA hotel rates there. This is before the days of GPS and data. There is a small waiting area with some reading materials. You will need to get the pod for coffee/tea from the reception. I did not see any water dispenser though. The wait was a bit longer than expected and it would be good to be given an approximate waiting time or a Q number so you could make a guess on the wait time. The staff I spoke with was friendly and helpful, and did not try to up-sell or hard-sell any services. Parking is available behind the building. read more

Amazing service, guess that's what happens when an intelligent agent answers a ton of questions from an intelligent consumer lol. Came in to renew parents' travel insurance, nearing its annual date. Saved over $400 from just buying a 3-day trip coverage instead of the 8-days; parents will go to Vegas once a year at most, so that's where the real cost savings. They rarely travel longer than 3 days and if so, you can buy a 1-day extension for an additional $20 or so. Now I'm pissed at last year's agent, whoever that was, as I wasn't there but I digress. Got a $20 credit for my renewal this year, better than nothing. Ask for Dtlama or the Ukrainian lady, very patient. Taking advantage of their Black Friday sale 10% off helped too. Free parking in the major parkade in the back with Save on Foods, etc. read more

Customer service takes a new low. I have been a member for years and I'm about to cancel my membership. A couple of months ago I went in to see about getting my house insurance at BCAA at the New West location. First it was going to be a 20 min wait.... I checked in after 15 mins to see how time was going and told it would be at least another 90 min wait and the clerk wasn't the least bit concerned about the wait time. I bought my insurance somewhere else. Today, trying to be proactive I called to make an appointment to renew my car insurance... the ONLY thing you can do is leave a message to book an appointment for home/travel insurance. There isn't even an human that answers the phone.... Wow... do I ever feel like a valued member! Enough.... I'm cancelling my overpriced membership and going to walk across the street to a competitor..... Thanks BCAA for nothing! read more

A lot has changed with BCAA...and it's for the worst. Just because someone is an elite reviewer doesn't mean the review isn't bogus, lol. I am finding that this location like other BCAA locations are very unwelcoming. I thought this location would be different since they know me. Staff are aggressive in trying to push this and that on you. They want your personal details such as when your car and home insurance expires, make and model of car etc for nothing related to my visit. This is completely unacceptable to me. Additionally, they no longer have discounts on renewal roadside memberships, they don't offer travel advice/services except offer their lame travel insurance where you can get better and cheaper insurance elsewhere. BCAA, what has happened to you? read more

We've had BCAA insurance coverage for the house for ages and I've always thought their prices are pretty competitive. I also lock keys in cars all too often, plus I love road tripping, so we finally decided that getting their auto club membership would not be a bad idea, either. We were really happy with how quickly and efficiently the agent signed us up, and I was over the moon when it turned out that the bonus gift for signing up before Christmas was an Entertainment book. Man, how I love those 2-for-1 coupons! So we not only get road service and CAA/AAA discounts and travel services (free maps, y'all), I'm now also dining out on the cheap. Colour me a happy coupon-geek. I had a BCAA membership a long time ago when my Dad bought me them for Christmas as part of the whole live-at-home-plus-gas-card-as-long-as you're-going-to-school plan. I remember that those BCAA road guys were always really nice, and often pretty cute, too. read more

Re: BCAA Membership. Here it is August 8, 2019 and, supposedly because of "policy", cancellation of the membership cannot be made until May of 2020 .... unbelievable! This is not at all acceptable. So, potential members of BCAA ... beware before you apply or renew your membership. Gord Weitzel Metro Vancouver, BC read more

I agree with a few other negative reviews here. First, BCAA is definitely NOT what it used to be. One must deal with a sales person who tries to upsell. Second, BCAA wants to retain my credit card number for a MANDATORY automatic renewal option. How insane is this? Has BCAA never heard of hacking? There is NO WAY I am giving a company my credit card details for it to "hang on to them" for a renewal in one year. Any one who surrenders their credit card info to any company to be held by that company for a year, or longer, is a fool. When I challenged BCAA on this, BCAA responded with "don't worry, we are 100% safe" ... right, famous last words of numerous companies who have been hacked and customer details have been stolen. BCAA is not taking care of its customers. Third, I just wanted to renew a membership ... I just wanted to pay cash (or debit) for it ... after two visits (the first visit had an incompetent person who didn't know how to do it ... the second tried to get all of my info and upsell me), both visits making me wait about 15 minutes while salespeople chatted with each other ... I think not. BCAA, you have become a huge disappointment. read more

Tried to get a quote for home insurance using there on line service. It was very difficult to use and could not get the template to work. Spoke to the customer service department and was able to get a quote. Unfortunately it was twice as expensive as my current policy for the same coverage and I am a BCAA member. I seriously recommend that you shop around and I would not recommend BCAA for home insurance. read more

The staff at this location is fantastic. Sometimes it can take awhile if there are a lot of people, but it is worth it. They are patient, helpful, well informed, and committed to getting you the best deal on your insurance. We have car and home insurance with them as well as a BCAA membership, of course. We even continue to go to this branch after moving from New Westminster to Surrey. read more

Dead battery after apparently leaving trunk light ON...overnight. Next morning I head out to do some shopping .. but...car engine will not 'turn over'/start. BCAA is called but I can't get through due to heavy call volume. I decide to leave a voicemail in BCAA's phone tree. I breath a deep sigh and mutter....'Yeah, right...like they'll really be here in 45 minutes' (as the recording indicates at end of my voicemail). This isn't based on any previous negative experiences with BCAA...simply my skepticism with life in general. After 5 minutes I get a callback/recorded message from BCAA. "A truck will be there within 15 minutes." OK.......now I've been - at least - acknowledged by BCAA's computerized system because I received a Confirmation #....... Ten (5) minutes later .... truck arrives. Friendly driver + advises me on the options + Car starts after a boost by BCAA. Total time = 15 minutes to arrive / 5 minutes to resolve. Excellent service! I truly was impressed with response time and the BCAA employee himself. read more

Julia 7 minutes ago I have always enjoyed good service here but my encounter today with a service advisor by the name of Vanessa Vis was the most frustrating if not the worst in my almost 10 years of dealing with and visiting the office. Vanessa doesn't listen carefully nor give clear information. She is bureaucratic to say the least. I was explaining to her that my husband who is overseas wanted me to cancel the car insurance for our son who is away for 2 yrs. She wanted evidence of that which I provided. Then she said it cannot be done since he doesn't have another car under his name. When I explained again that he won't be back for 2 years, she said my husband has to come in personally. I told her he can't as he is overseas, and she said he can call her directly, offering me her business card. I offered to dial my phone on the spot so he can instruct her and she then said no. He now needs to write her an email instead. I texted my husband while waiting in the general waiting area (he is 15 hrs ahead of us) n he wrote her an email stating the same request on the spot. Vanessa then said he needs to send a letter with his signature and an email will not work! I told her he doesn't have access to print a letter, sign it and scan it and email her but she said that's the only way. Very disappointed with her service. This is one of my rare off days to run errands and I still didn't get it done. read more

You never know how good you insurance is till you make a claim. On day 124 since an electrical fire and smoke damage ran my 77 year old mother out of her fully insured by BCAA home of 22 years. She was clearly shuffled to the bottom of the deck after initial clean up little effort put into renovation work and no sign of it being completed. She's depressed living with her dog in a hotel. It could be worse according to the adjuster. If you make a claim be prepared to make it a full time job and stay on them from the first contact. These people are not your friends. read more

I have had a membership for 10 years and have at least needed them once every year for various situations and they have always pulled through. If you're a member the rates are very reasonable and the service has always been friendly, especially in a stressful situation. I came into this branch when I lived in Coquitlam to pay my membership in person (before I owned a CC). read more

I got a great price for my home insurance with BCAA when I bought this house in December of 2009. My year over year premium went up: 9.5% for 2010-11 1.9% for 2011-12 and that was after a battle 24.4 % !!! 2012-13 Are they crazy, I am getting nothing more but they want more money !! If I was you I would stay away from BCAA, they bait you in with a good price and try to increase it each year ! Absolutely nothing on my end has changed, I have had no claims and the value of my house has decreased. Although they say that if my house was to burn down the cost to rebuild it has gone up ! BS ! read more

Very soon after posting my review, I was sent a message from a BCAA employee through yelp and asked for my membership number and assured that a Member Relations Team member will contact me to follow up and address my concerns in the next day or so. I provided my membership information. It's been over a week and I have not yet received any contact or follow up to address my concerns. This suggests that the incompetency and inconsideration described in my initial review extends beyond just one location and is actually a characteristic of the company as a whole. If you say you're going to follow up in a day or so, do it! read more

Currently experiencing a huge runaround from OneWorld"un"Assist...simple luggage claim provokes ridiculous requests to make/verify claim - the wheel and surrounding wheel support area has all been busted off - and this is an expensive Samsonite piece...it is not a simple wheel replacement as they seem to claim...do they want me to crawl under the jet luggage hold to find the wheel....never again use BCAA or Oneworld assist.....no service...more hoops than a than a hula convention. read more

Last year I took out trip interrupt insurance and when I needed to use it, I got no help from BCAA and had to pay out of my pocket. So I now buy my medical and trip insurance elsewhere. You increased my house insurance by $200 and when I checked around, I found you were $200 higher than anyone else. So now I buy my home insurance elsewhere. Seems my membership premium has taken a big jump and I cancelled the RV coverage, but looks like I am still being charged for it. They claim to be a BC company but they have sold out your travel to Priceline, an American company and when I compare against going direct, I find they are the same price or much higher and they still list some items in U.S. Dollars. I bought a new car which has a five (5) year roadside coverage. The list goes on and as I said in the message I never received a reply to, I can't think of one reason to keep my membership. Someone finally phoned me and the one comment that sticks out is "he wasn't concerned about me renewing my membership"! So after 10 years, I am not renewing. read more

BCAA is fantastic for auto road side assistance but they are new at the home owners game and it shows. I have been a home insurance customer of BCAA for almost a year simply because when I signed on the dotted line I paid for a whole year for convenience sake. When I registered with them I thought the answers they provided were vague and it seemed when I asked for further details again very dismissive. They offer a very basic coverage package with very low coverage amounts for items that generally cost much more to replace. I am currently shopping for another insurance provider and I am already getting a far more complete idea of the kind of service I will receive if there is a need for an insurance claim. I think when someone is purchasing home insurance for the first time there is a need for detailed service considering that you have typically invested your life savings to purchase your new home. read more
