Bagels are good fresh but half the time I go and wait on the drive thru line only for them to tell me there out of Salted bagels. They don't make enough and sometimes it's very early in the morning like they didn't make any that day. This is a regular stop and today I brought my kiddos to have a bagel on our way out of town. We stopped in before they closed, and they still had a great bagel selection. Staff was friendly as they worked with us and other customers. We got 3 bagels toasted with toppings. Mine was a sesame with garlic and herb cream cheese. We lived in the Binghamton NY area for about ten years. But it's been about ten years since then. You know what food from this area I still miss the most?? THESE BAGELS. Back when I was in town, it was called 'Best Bagels in Town', which was entirely accurate. I'd argue best bagels in the state. And beyond! No joke, they have people drive in from NYC area for these bagels. They bagel-it-RIGHT, for sure! Now rebranded to BC Bagel, they are still THE BEST. Beyond the perfect bagels, all still baked in-house daily, they make about a dozen-plus cream cheese spreads, too. And no need to ask for extra, the standard topping is not a mere smear--it's an ice-cream-scoop-sized-dollop!! The doughy ample bagels and abundance of cream cheese is gluttony at its finest. I went with my ole' fave, a blueberry bagel with plain cream cheese--it was pure-bagel-TRANSCENDENT. The crisp outside, the sweet doughy middle, the toasted-toasty'ness, all melded together with a ton of tangy cream cheese ... YUM, and then some! In addition to bagels and cream cheese, they have several breakfast and lunch sandwiches too. I had a veggie bagel on a wheat bagel, which was generously topped with fresh, crisp veggies, cheese, and I added cream cheese. My husband had the traditional lox on an onion bagel. The lox and cream cheese were thick, smooth, and salty. As a fresh fish fan, he was totally pleased with this bagel traditional treat. So to my BUFFALO NY AREA YELP FRIENDS--WE NEED TO START A PETITION TO BRING BC BAGELS TO THE 716!! WE HAVE NOTHING LIKE IT HERE!! I stopped in this one stop shop best bagels in town for lunch and noticed they had some incredibly delicious cream cheese flavors, the cashier Lindsey let me try the cranberry and chocolate flavor because I had never had them before so after tasting it I chose the cranberry cream cheese with a cranberry bagel and mango smoothie. The mango smoothie I was abit taken back by surprise because it tasted kinda tart tasting and was frozen more like a slush puppy and I was expecting it to taste organic with real mango pieces in it I told one of the employees and she allowed me to taste a sample of the strawberry flavor instead which I liked better so I asked to switch it instead and they graciously allowed me too. Also the cranberry bagel with cranberry cream cheese was spot on absolutely delicious. I definitely will recommend any bagle lovers to come in this place. read more

You should know that I grew up in Brooklyn and have been having bagels my whole life. These bagels were ok but not the best. We got to the shop close to noon and they had 1 everything and 2 salt bagels left. We took those and some poppy, sesame, onion, and cheese bagels and made a baker's dozen that is $13 as of the writing of this. The bagels were mostly ok except the poppy seed had hardly any on it. If the bagels were crunchier then I might have given them 5 stars. If they hadn't have been running out of the flavors we wanted then we would have been more satisfied. I noticed they had an interesting looking very good selection of flavored cream cheeses but we didn't try any. They do have a slicer to get your bagels pre-sliced. They are open every day from 6 am to 2 pm. I suspect that if you want your best selection of flavors that you will have to come early. Not happy. Ordered egg salad sandwich and iced coffee. Egg salad broke off in clumps as I ate it. It tasted like no egg salad I've ever had. It didn't seem to have mayonnaise. The ice coffee had to have been bottled. It was $3.99. I got whipped cream on it. It was full of ice. Had no real coffee flavor. Small amount of coffee for price. My breakfast came to over $10. i'm a humble guy, and i tend to hate it when a place calls themselves the best, because most of the time they aren't. sometimes people will go along with it, like how The Old Union Hotel opened and said they have the best wings. somehow they got a lot of people to think very highly of their extremely mediocre wings. California Grill in Vestal actually had the balls to claim that their BBQ is better than Dinosaur... what a joke! Cali Grill has some of the worse que in town! As for Best Bagels actually having the best bagels? well, maybe... I grew up on the south side and we would get really good bagels from Bagels Plus, which was in the spot where nezuntos is now located. i loved their bagels and since they went out of business i've been looking for a place that was just as good. i wasn't impressed with the bagels from ithaca that nezuntos sells, and the ones at weis are no good either. Wegmans bagels are pretty decent though, and Best Bagels is pretty much just on par with them in my opinion. i remember the plain bagels at Bagels Plus being so good and fresh that i could eat them untoasted. i tried that with a plain bagel from Best Bagels and i didn't care for it, it seemed a little stale to me. i tried a bacon egg and cheese bagel sandwich and the bagel toasted in store didn't do much for me, but when i took a couple bagels home and cut them myself and toasted them they were much better. so back to the sandwich, the bacon on it seemed pretty good. very smokey flavor and a decent texture. the cheese was melted nicely but the eggs is where the sandwich was lacking, which is a shame because that was the 2nd biggest part of the sandwich. it seems like they were just prepackaged eggs that they just reheated, the eggs here were less than fast food quality. it's always a last resort, but i feel like the sandwich needed ketchup. ouch. i wanted to try some other things here that i saw on their menu online, like the croissants and muffins. they only had a couple muffins left and i didn't see any of my favorite flavor (cranberry orange), so i opted not to try one. they were totally out of croissants too. i decided to try a cinnamon roll though and that was very good. im almost never around this part of town during breakfast hours, but if i was i would like to go back and try other things, but i'm really in no rush to go back. the place seems clean and the people seemed friendly, so they got that goin for em. they probably do have some of the better bagels in the area, but that's not saying much, i wish we could get something better. read more

For some reason it is very difficult to find a decent bagel outside of the New York City/ Long Island area. Comparing to a downstate bagel , best bagel in town falls short of providing an excellent bagel. I stopped by Best Bagels in Town around 12:30 today for lunch, and asked for a "Plain bagel with egg and cheese". I was then told that they were out of plain bagels and the only ones left were "jalapeño" and "sun dried tomato". That's it? Just those two kinds, which I don't imagine being high on the list of popularity. No onion? No sesame seed? No everything? Needless to say, I walked out disappointed, and still hungry. There was a lady walking to her car at the same time and told me that you have to get there really early if you want variety. I won a $50 gift card for Best Bagels at a local church fundraising auction. I moved here from NYC about 10 years ago. I am fussy about bagels (having had THE best bagels available for most of my life). The Best Bagels gift card inhabited my wallet for months. Yesterday I was fiending lox and cream cheese on a bagel (not lox-cream cheese...real slabs of trimmed nova). It really is the best bagel (with good stuff inside) in town! The owner, Eric told me that he got his recipe from someone in NYC. OK...Wegmans bagels are good, but when I bit into my towering bagel (lox, cream cheese, sliced onions & tomatoes and capers (nice touch) it was JUST like a NYC bagel! The young woman who put my order together was a honey. Eric has arranged for his day-old bagels to be distributed by CHOW & Meals on Wheels.
