Customer service was horrible,. One of the clerks was busy with a customer wanting an island setup. The other one was just shooting the bull with a customer not even wanting to buy anything. We stood there for a good 20 plus minutes and when we asked if we could check out he said oh yeah. This place was supposed to be one of Traegers great dealers but they are not. Not much to choose from weather it be a grill or accessories. It's sad because a few years ago (in 2020) I bought a Fire Magic grill from them and had much better service. read more

We purchased a Saber Grill from this company in 2016 and we now need new cooking grates. I called this week and was told that they do not sell replacement parts and that I have to order direct from the factor. They came and attempted to fix our Traeger Timberline 1300. Which has been broke for 2 months while we waited for Traeger to send us replacement parts. They got the fire started which is a plus. But, they never checked to make sure the unit would hold temperature. My girlfriend tried to make us dinner that same evening and the unit would not heat. When I came home I too tried to get it to work but this time it wouldn't even ignite. I'm giving BBQ Outfitters 4 stars because I cannot say they are not trying to help us fix this issue. They have bent over backward....been to my house twice. But, the unit simply is subpar. This is my first experience with Traeger and I'm pretty sure it'll be the last. Great selection of grills and supplies! It took a few weeks to get the grill I bought but Stephen made sure it was damage free and in perfect working order when I got it. I had "shopped around" at several other stores in San Antonio, Houston, and Austin but found BBQ Outfitters in San Antonio to be the best choice. Rick was my sales person and Stephen (store manager) helped me out also. Great sales and management team! We bought our Primo Smoker from here and haven't regretted the purchase. I went once and got all the info regarding the difference between the Green Egg and Primo, great customer service. Came back with my hubby and we picked out his retirement gift. We go back often, maybe once or twice a month purchasing tools, wood chunks, etc. Love going on weekends when the staff grills tasty treats for customers to sample. They have a large spice collection in the back corner, you can sample from the many open containers. They also sell smoker cookbooks which I intend to buy for my hubby as a Christmas gift. read more

Don't waste your time. Do they have nice grills, yes, but you'll struggle getting any type of help if you even get acknowledged. I've gone here twice, been the only customer in the store, and had the exact same experience both times. Me and my money left. I figured, maybe it was just me.... Nope! My buddy had the exact same experience as well as his Mother In Law on separate occasions. Well, I'm now the proud owner of a Smoker and a high end gas grill and my buddy just got a Big Green Egg. None of them purchased here. Don't waste your time or your money. There are plenty of places to fulfill your BBQ needs with friendly business owners who truly enjoy BBQ as much as the rest of us. I've read the reviews on here about "not getting any attention" and, honestly, while I get it - they read it all wrong. Here's why... The one thing I hate about going to any type of store is someone stalking me around asking me every two steps if I need help with something. That will not happen at BBQ Outfitters. It is the ultimate in "no-pressure" sales. BUT, once you've taken a look and have a question about something, what I have found are people who will patiently spend time with you answering what ever questions you have - and, boy, do they know the products they sell inside and out! And, more than that, they are agnostic about the products they sell giving you the pros and cons of each and comparing the features in a way that really help you maximize the value that YOU are looking for. You don't get the impression that they are pushing one particular brand over another because they realize that you will be using the equipment and it has to fit your needs, not theirs. We built an outdoor kitchen for our new home and did quite a bit of looking around both for vendors and products. We ended up buying all of our equipment from BBQ Outfitters (42" built in grill, 60,000 BTU power burner, Primo XL 400 kamado grill, cabinets, and sink). We hadn't closed on our new home yet, but wanted to take advantage of a sale that they were having and they agreed to store all of our equipment for as long as we needed. They spent a great deal of time with us on multiple visits comparing and contrasting equipment that would meet the needs that we were looking for - and they weren't steering us to the "most expensive" equipment but what was really the best given what our requirements were. Every time we have gone in there since, to buy accessories or charcoal or wood, I am treated not like a customer, but a CLIENT - someone who they don't just want to make one sale to, but want to have a long term relationship with. Recently I went in to buy a new thermometer for my Primo because the one that came with it was defective. I was leaning towards a TruTemp but when the manager asked why I was looking to replace it she said "go home, take a picture of your thermometer and the serial number on the back of your Primo and let me submit a warranty claim for you first." Within one week I had a replacement thermometer at no charge to me. They didn't have to do that - but they did. That's the kind of service and personal attention that you will get from them. Very disappointed at the lack of service at this store. I had been wanting to visit this place for a while but, have been extremely busy. I had some time today to stop by since I was in the area. I was there about 10 mins and never received a "hello", is there something i can help you find? Nothing! Now I have 5 bbq pits and am always looking for another one or some accessories for them. I guess they all ready had their quota for the month. They had a sign about buying local. Maybe you need to take care of your local customers also. When we left still no response. Smh. read more

If I could give a lower score I would. My husband and I went to BBQ Outfitters on a Sunday in search of a gas grill for our new home. It took a while before someone could help or acknowledge us. When my husband was telling him what we were looking for the sales guy then asked why we were looking for a gas grill. My husband said we got a new home. The man said "oh, so is your new house on the south side?" He said the remark very condescendingly. Wow! I have never encountered such ignorance. No sir! Our home is in Boerne and we were attempting to shop at your store. Just because we are Hispanic doesn't mean we only live on the south side. Seems like we caught him in a racists upset mood since he was working on a Sunday. He also didn't seem to be the one in charge, but still had the balls to make such an ignorant remark. My husband politely ended the conversation and we left and took out business elsewhere. I would recommend anyone who is of a minority race to NOT BUY FROM HERE. You can be prejudice all you want but when it's a minority's money supporting your business you better check your racism and ignorance at the door. I just visited the San Antonio store and I was ask how I was doing and what I was looking for. I explained to the person behind the counter that I was getting ready to build a house and I am looking at building an outdoor kitchen. Got no response at all I walked around the store for a little while still had no one ever come and work with me. Now I'm getting ready to spend 12000 to 15000 dollars on a kitchen and I promise you they will not see one dime of that money. I guess business must be pretty good. Was in the market for a Green Egg and a friend told me that this company had them in stock. I've been doing some research about the Green Egg, but still had a lot of questions that I thought I would get assistance on. After my last work appointment I headed to the store and arrived around 3pm. I walked in with no greeting from any of the employees behind the counter (after I waved hello). I walked around for 5-10 minutes to see if anyone would reach out with no luck. I made it a point to walk in front of the counter with a hope that someone would recognize that there was a customer. I didn't think it would be too hard due to me being the only customer at the time, but I guess they were getting slammed at the time I arrived. I should have recognized that by the empty parking lot. My intention was to get my questions answered and purchase what I've been wanting for some time now. Instead I received poor customer service or no customer service and left there with questions unanswered. read more

I went there today to purchase a Green Mountain Grill Jim Bowie. I researched pellet grills for weeks if not months before hand and narrowed my choice down to it. While the gentleman that helped me was very informative and knowledgeable, I was very perturbed that they would not honor the GMG Black Friday sale that was online. Since GMGs are only sold by dealers they should have honored it. They gave me a poor excuse that they can only offer the deal once they put in a new order but they still needed to sell 8 more before they could place an order. By that time Black Friday will be over. On top of that he offered me a slightly used one that was returned because it didn't work. They changed out a part and are reselling it with not much of a discount. I ended up going to another dealer and they honored the Black Friday deal online and I bought a brand new one with all the bells and whistles for around $100 cheaper than the used repaired one they tried to sell me. They earned 3 stars because they were nice and welcoming but their pricing was outrageous and they wouldn't honor the online GMG deal even though they're a dealer. read more

Everything I have purchased has had a fair price and is a quality product. I love having access to specialty items that I would normally have to order on the web and wait for. We were looking for outdoor kitchen ideas, and one of their employees recommended HC Designs as a contractor. We ultimately spent more than $6k on a grill, fridge, side burner, and cabinets. While I realize that they cannot vouch for every contractor, they are fully aware of our continued issues with Robert Thompson and his company. In fact, they have stated they've had their own issues collecting payment from him. Nonetheless, they continue to promote his business by keeping his business cards at the front counter. In my mind, that says a lot about BBQ Outfitters. I will now shop elsewhere. read more

We decided to stop by on Saturday afternoon excited about the purchase of a new Weber Genesis gas grill. Had heard radio advertising about BBQ Outfitters, and it sounded like a friendly family homey atmosphere where they cookout, share their stories and help you pick out the perfect grill. Instead, we walked up and looked at the fire pits and grills that were on their deck, no one greeted us. We walked in the store, looked at the Webers and noted they were higher priced, however still might have purchased our grill there since we like to support local businesses, BUT we got zero attention from any of the staff working there. We browsed around for maybe 10 minutes while noticing 2 employees standing by the register chatting, one employee cutting up pizza, a forth maybe stocking shelves. NO ONE acknowledged us, not even a hello or any eye contact. Needless to say we walked out! They lost our business and almost $1000.00 sale. We will be looking for our Weber elsewhere! read more

Customer service is horrific! Bought a Green Egg went in seeking help because we can't get the temperature to stabilize. Sean told us that he didn't know what to say because he had "never" known anyone to have problems setting the temperature on the Egg although there are many blogs stating that others are having the same problem. Manager, Nikki, advice was to keep cooking. Took pictures In from 5 hours of cooking with various temperatures, employees not even interested in helping or problem solving with us. Will never recommend this company to anyone. There are other retailers for your grill/smoker needs. read more

One thing that really stood out to me was their excellent customer service. I made several trips to the store over the course of several weeks before even buying anything or making up my mind on what I wanted to do yet they were very patient and helpful throughout the whole process. The worst customer service. Nice grills but wish they would have carried the Treager grill we purchased somewhere else! We purchased grill on a Saturday and went back on Sunday to pick it up. After 20 min of being asked why I was there is he salesman finally remembered. Of course It was raining, so asked if I could load it under the covered awning in the back and was told no. Another lady in the store asked if she could to do the same and was told yes. So after getting the grill into my truck they just left so I could finish strapping it down. Then the man proceeds to come back out and try to sell me some pellets, watching me finish loading all while holding his Umbrella. Worst experience ever!!! read more
