My refrigerator stopped working, my freezer operation was degraded but was still running. I…read morecontacted ProStar due to their almost perfect ratings. That was on Sunday 26 July 2026. They responded to my text amazingly fast. I texted them early Sunday morning around 7 AM. Told me someone would be coming by 11-1 PM. I thought that was awesome. BTW not a fan of AI, but their AI call center is amazing. 1 PM (name withheld) shows up with his tool bag and walks in. He seemed to be in a hurry on the way in and on the way out. He pulls the refrigerator off the wall, does (something?) Pushes it back and tells me "my compressor is dead". He sends me an estimate for $1046.78. I place $100 cash down to get repairs booked so I now owe $946.78 on a "dead compressor" repair. He then scoots out the door after maybe 15 minutes. Knowing a compressor failure is a costly failure, it caused us quite a bit of stress. I decided, against the advice of my wife, to still give ProStar a try. She was ready to cancel repairs and buy a new costly refrigerator which I talked her out of because I know almost all brands are garbage except for Whirlpool/Kitchen Aid. Here comes Shawn on Tuesday. Super guy, diagnosed the problem correctly with pictures for me, got to the part that was actually malfunctioning (freezer fan assembly with faulty sensor causing a big block of ice over it) and got it back up running for way less than "a dead compressor" like "expert" (name withheld) said. $481 bill plus my $100 deposit. I'm giving you all 4-5 stars because of the initial poor customer service I got.

He recommended we contact the manufacturer to see if the warranty would cover it, and it did! The second time he came out one of the burners on our stove was malfunctioning. He knew exactly what the issue was, and what part to order. He also checked the icemaker in our fridge, (don't buy an LG fridge) gave me the part number to order, and told me I could replace it myself and save some money. When a repair technician does a good job and also helps you save money, what more can you ask for? Thanks to Joe for his expertise and professionalism!

This is probably the worst customer service experience I have ever dealt with in my entire life…read more To start off with. The "technician" Matthew did not have my correct address the morning of our appointment. He stated his company "does not allow them to have the customer's address and gives them just gps coordinates" He was late about 3 hours. He shows up in his personal vehicle , no company vehicle. He does not carry any parts on his truck. So he came to my house just to guess on what part was not working and ordered something off of Amazon. No diagnostic tools , no F codes , just mumbo gumbo about how he has so much experience on washers and it could be two things. My drain pump or my lid lock sensor. I had mentioned to him earlier that , I had checked the drain pump for a clog and it was clear. He misheard me or thought I said I replaced it. I didn't replace it. I just checked if it was clogged. He tells us , he'll order the lid sensor and will come back the next day. The next day , I text him. Hey what's your eta? No answer. No text. Just silence. I call the company. Calls me back and tells me the part is not here yet and he'll be there later in the afternoon. I told him just to come by the next morning. Strange an appliance repair company doesn't carry parts. They order them on Amazon. Wow, okay. This morning. Comes to my house , switches the lid lock sensor. Realizes its not the lid lock sensor and tells my wife, " Hey bro , I think its the drain pump so I'll have to come back another day , so I'll have to charge you another trip charge and if its not the drain pump , it might be the control board" Wife says he called her bro like 7-8 times while explaining the extra charges. She texts me to call him. I called him to question why we are getting charged again if I already had a quote on the repair. Seems like charging me for extra trips to get Amazon parts is not a smart business decision. I asked him why did he not check if it was the drain pump first. He said he didn't because I had already replaced it once. I never said that. I checked if it was clogged. I told him just to leave. We'll sort if out with a real appliance repair company. He then tells me he is sick of f**king people like me and that this always happens to him. Then hangs up. Then he proceeds to text me 14 times on how much he was saving us with prices of different drain pumps and that he is exhausted from difficult customers. What a nut job. What a terrible company. The way he speaks about his superiors and the company itself should be a sign of what inept people hired him in the first place. Cussing to customers and complaining to them is such a red flag. Please save yourself some trouble and go with a reputable appliance repair. Hope this review helps you.

Our freestanding oven stopped heating on both the cooktop and oven sections. My wife called TX Elite and spoke with Mike, and he walked her through checking the breakers and troubleshooting the problem as much as possible over the phone. He initially determined it was likely the control board. Upon further inspection, I found that the electrical plug on the oven wasn't tightened down fully and was arcing when turned on. I fixed the issue right away and the oven started working again. We sent Mike pictures of what we found, and he called us back immediately to make sure the repair was done correctly. He didn't charge us anything since he hadn't come out to the house, which we truly appreciated. His knowledge and experience even just over the phone were top notch. I would highly recommend Mike and TX Elite for any future appliance issues. It's hard these days to find truly GREAT people who are hardworking and knowledgeable. I am adding sixth star since that is not a option…read more Called Jack on a Friday and arranged for his service at 10:30 the following Sat for a dishwasher problem. He showed up on time and is a very personable guy. Jack quickly diagnosed the problem with the dishwasher (was not draining after a cleaning cycle) as caused by improper installation of a garbage disposal by my tenants. The problem was fixed without the need of any additional parts; just needed to correct the garbage disposal issue. Then I asked Jack to take a look at my oven door as it was not closing/seating all the way shut. After removing the door there was the possibility the oven door needed new hinges. After reinstalling the door, the problem was fixed as the issue seemingly was simply misaligned hinges. I found Jack to be refreshingly knowledgeable and professional. And his fees are more than reasonable for the services rendered. These days it is a challenge to find competent, professional and honest contractors. But EcoFix is all of the good traits that customers are looking for when searching for contractors. I cannot recommend EcoFix more highly.

The ice maker on my KitchenAid refrigerator stopped working, so I gave Hugo Ortega a call. I was…read moreasked to send photos of the refrigerator model number, the face of the fridge, and of the ice maker itself. The text I received indicated that yes, Mr. Ortega does work on that unit, and a service call was scheduled two days hence. As it turns out, Hugo Ortega did not appear for the service call, but rather his son Tim. It seems that the father, Hugo, tends to work primarily on washer/dryer, and Tim deals with refrigerators and dishwashers. (They are both able to work on any of the appliances, but they have their particular interests, according to Tim). Personable and polite, Tim went through his diagnostics, explaining as he proceeded, and determined that the problem was the ice maker's motor. And.. he has a Kitchenaid ice maker on his truck. But here is where it gets a bit interesting. It seems that the icemakers on this brand can be different: some sit on the side of the freezer, some sit in the center of the freezer...and one is not an exact "bolt In" for the other. He stocked the side fitting unit, and I have the centrally sitting unit. So what Tim did was dismantle his unit, and used the parts to fit on the chassis of my unit. As he nimbly disassembled and reassembled the units, I was reminded of a scene in "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly", in which Tuco takes apart several revolvers, and knew which parts would fit the chassis of his new revolver. WOW. DOUBLE WOW! With the unit now working as new...which essentially it was...I realized this young man definitely knows his refrigerators!! But the story gets better. I asked if he works on Jennair Downdraft glass stove tops, as one of my burners was not working. He doesn't really service these units, but he went through an online parts manual, and given the symptoms I described, he told of three possible defects...and he listed the parts numbers and the suggested prices for the parts. I was pretty impressed with his efforts for an appliance he doesn't work on! So can I recommend the Ortegas for appliance repair? Definitely! They are my "go to" repairmen now!! Good Luck Yelpers
