Had hired BBQ On Wheels for our first ever family reunion. Their online menus were vast. And their pricing was clear. They answered all of my questions and they were easy to schedule with a small deposit. Throughout the process, they remained in contact with me to ensure that we were going to get everything that we needed and knew what to expect. On the day of the event, the Chef arrived ahead of the stated time with this grill in tow. The Chef was friendly and incredibly helpful. He not only set up the area for his own service, he helped us set up the tables for the rest of our event. The BBQ ribs (sauced and dry rubbed), chicken breasts and hamburgers that we'd ordered, along with roasted vegetables and fresh watermelon were all served on time. The corn on the cob, was served after most everyone had finished eating. Once everyone had had their fill, clean up was quick and thorough. All in all, we were very glad to have had BBQ On Wheels on hand to provide lunch for our event. The only reason that I'm withholding a fifth star, is due to the tardiness of the corn. And, although the ribs were good, they were more dry than tender (in conflict of my expectation from a business named "BBQ On Wheels"). I would hire them again. read more

They hosted a safety lunch at our job site, several guys reported uncooked chicken, and got sick.

We, including our guests, were in awe of how precise the entire process ran. Mark was phenomenal in his explanation of how things would proceed and he was 100% on every word! Our guests commented on how they had never tasted such incredible barbecue and many had multiple servings. When asked how we had selected BBQ On Wheels, I replied "they had great reviews online" which left our guests speechless that we selected a catering company without experiencing any prior tastings. From my initial inquiry, Sara was extremely accommodating and answered my many questions regarding the vast menu and package options. The day of our event, Mark and Renee, the "Dynamic Duo" - set everything up, chatted with "inquisitive guests" and even let them take photos while the pig roasted and was carved. At serving time, Mark explained the food options and Renee kept the line moving while maintaining quantities for our guests. Clean up was completed in no time and you'd never know a pig was roasted in our driveway after they pulled away. We look forward to another occasion when we need to hire a caterer! The quality of food and level of customer service (inquiry, booking, confirming and day of) was top shelf, and the price point for ALL we received was extremely reasonable! We held a 70th Birthday Party at a brewery in Lake Villa, that needed catering. Not having used BBQ On Wheels before, it was a bit unnerving to turn over such a momentum occasion to those unproven. However, there was no need for the fretting. I was beside myself with joy at the seamlessness of how everything turned out with Sara's help over the phone/email and the grilling expertise of Jesus, on site. We hired BBQ on Wheels for a fall party we had this past weekend. From the initial call, to booking and choosing our menu it was a breeze. The day of our party, our chef, Gale, was right on time from arrival to lunchtime! The food was absolutely delicious! We had a roasted pig, brats and roasted chickens, mac and cheese, Pork baked beans and roasted potatoes. It was all incredible. I loved that all of our guests could smell the pig roasting. Used this company for our wedding. We had heard many good things about this company before but had not personally used them yet. They showed up on time. We had Pulled Pork, Chicken Breast, and Beef Brisket as our main dishes. As we were taking reception pictures (outdoor wedding) we smelled the deliciousness of the master chefs cooking the food....absolutely incredible. Not only did they serve the food on time but they also refill the buffet for almost 2 hours. I was honestly blown away. Food was incredible. Price was extremely reasonable. We had a work function - 25 people. They rolled their van up, with the grill on the back, and the dude (Kuko) got right to work. He was an expert in grilling, and how to set up. Since we were on a public street he said it's better that he grills and puts everything in trays on the table for food, and will refill that way. He was friendly, introduced himself to the party planners, etc. Food was decent -- beans, salads, etc. I *cannot* believe the amazing price ($22.35 ppsk). Especially since plates, napkins, silverware, tablecloths (those plastic ones, but with the cute red and white checker), sterno, tables, set up and clean up, was included. We added vege burgers @ $4 each, and also got polish dogs in addition to hot dogs. Everyone enjoyed it, we organizers didn't have to do much of any of the work, and would totally do it again. read more

For starters, the pork is excellent. Cooked perfectly, appropriately smokey, and their BBQ sauce is perfectly sweet and tangy. I worked with them on a fundraiser at my church. The staff did wonders with working in our budget. We had some constraints that they were able to work through but still provided exactly what we needed. I attended an outdoor wedding that BBQ on Wheels catered. The food was great, they started on time (we were hungry!) and they did a good job of keeping everything tidy. I loved the brisket and shredded pork, Mom said the chicken was moist and delicious. We both went back for more. YUM! The menu included kid stuff (mac 'n cheese, hot dogs). We just ordered for a company lunch. The delivery guy was awesome and super nice. We had an over abundance of food which was great as well. BUT The St. Louis ribs were horrible. So tough, you couldn't even cut them, much less chew them. We had 4 trays of ribs and barely got through the first tray. Everyone was extremely disappointed. Fried chicken was okay, a little overdone. Mac and cheese was fine, cole slaw lacked flavor. All in all, pretty disappointing food. Would not order from here again. read more

She choose the package with cheeseburgers, hot dogs, and Italian sausage. Gale, the griller, told me that BBQ on Wheels makes their own Italian sausage. It was sublime!!!! The sides my daughter chose were potato salad, macaroni salad, and beans with pork. The beans- these were *not* canned pork n' beans. There was a variety of beans in a delicious sauce, with real pulled pork. The macaroni salad had real vegetables in it, not bits and pieces. And the potato salad? There was once a Swedish deli named Eklund's in Chicago. It had the perfect potato salad. My mother had Eklund's recipe. It seems so does BBQ on Wheels!!! But most important was the courtesy I received from Gale and Bobby. They not only helped with grilling, but set-up, removal, etc. I really could not have done this part without them. Some people chose not to inform me that they would not be attending after they said they would be there, like 35 people. Gale wrapped up some of the raw meat so we could use it later. Bobby helped me secure my table covers to the tables. They helpwd carry items that I'd brought. They were clean, polite, and so very helpful!!! Joanne and Sara in the office kept excellent track of my payments and kept me informed every step of the way. I plan to use BBQ on Wheels at our next party. You should, too. read more

We used BBQ On Wheels to cater a memorial for my father this last weekend. Everything was perfect! I needed to make arrangements from out of town and it was handled very smoothly via email. The day of the memorial everyone arrived on time and they set up easily. The food was prepared right on site and smelled delicious as people arrived. I can't say enough positive things about this company. We had a work event 365 this past Saturday . The staff was timely and the food coming!! It was fresh and tasty. They supplied the paper goods as well as cute red and white table clothes. The great thing is they can serve as small as 25 people. We ordered the Roasted Pig (#11 on the menu) for a birthday party. Sara, who does the scheduling, does most things via email and she was pleasant. Brian our cook/server arrived on time and he got right to work setting up the pig on the BBQ. He was very friendly and very unobtrusive to the party. It started POURING rain. I asked Brian if he wanted to come into the house. He was very nice and said, "No I have the van to sit in, I have water and snacks and due to the temperature changes with the rain etc, I will need to keep a close eye on the temperature of the grill." He served and wrapped everything after we had finished eating. We had the pork from the pig BBQ and no sauce. We had brisket, BBQ beans, Potato Salad and Pasta Salad. The meat was wonderful, tender, BBQ sauce sweeter than spicy, the BBQ beans were amazing. The salads were very good, very chunky potato salad, the pasta salad was good, large peices of veggies. We had the pig roast, BBQ chicken, pasta salad, grilled veggies and corn on the cob. All our guests commented on how delicious all the food was. Everything was cooked perfectly for our 140 guests. Our chefs arrived on time and were so pleasant and easy to work with. They even went around and cleaned up plates left on tables and threw them in the trash which was a HUGE help since there was no waitstaff. I felt terrible that they had to sit in front of that grill in 90 degree heat but they never complained once. Had fifty plus people over for a birthday party. Sara Johnson, manager, took care of us as far as recommendations and process. We picked up the food and it was ready when they said. The food was well packed for transport with solid boxes, plasticware and paper plates. We had fried and bbq chicken, brats, mac and cheese, roasted potatoes, mastaccioli, cowboy caviar, and a 100 wings. There was plenty of food for our group and it was delicious! There were many comments on how good the food was, in particular the fried chicken and brats. Everyone wanted to know who catered the food. There may be places cheaper, but none better.
