I had never seen a casket placed in the cement casing and then have the dirt cover the casket and grass placed on top. In my opinion this was hard to watch. I can only imagine how the family felt. Maybe they requested this way. The grounds were clean and kept. Seems like a new cemetery because the trees were all small trees which made them look like young trees. Not much shade or benches for seating. The visiting families seamed happy to visit their loved ones graves because I heard laughter and conversation about their living life.

Bought a set from Amazon and stuck them in ground next to fiancé's headstone and they threw them away, frustrating. But yet see other plots all decorated with all kinds of stuff, looks the same every time been there, you telling me someone goes and decorates every wk, yea idk about all that. And it would be nice if gates were open a little later, I would like to do after work but I'm off at 5pm and it's an hour drive with traffic and they close gate at 6pm so can't go so that's also frustrating cuz people do have jobs.

My father,my other tia and her fiance were gonna do worship for the service and the person on the phone said my family can get there one hour early to set up and mourn before every one gets there. But when we got there and we walked in they kicked us out saying we couldn't be there even though we stated many times we were the family. And the guy( I think his name was Emmanuel) told us that only the worship band could go in. which is my tia, dad and tio. and they wouldn't let them in either then we rented out the chapel for 2 hours and they tried to kick us out 30 minutes early! then when it was actaully time to leave they straight away said give us the money and leave! they made it a horrible way to say our final goodbyes. especially for my cousins( the kids of my tia who passed away). I would not recommend for a funeral.

There is a small mausoleum located in the back of the cemetery and I believe that people can be buried in locations throughout the park depending on their religion. There is a Jewish, christian, catholic section and etc. There are also columbines for ashes, located throughout the memorial park. The grass is green and very lush and it seems family are able to decorate graves with artificial flowers periodically. This cemetery seems fairly organized and the atmosphere of the park feels very private and comfortable, as comfortable as you can get whilst in mourning. There are dirt lots still in development and it has two entrances on the north and Wast side of the park. The website for the park says it is open from 8AM to 4:30PM although I have visited later than that before but nevertheless that is the hours listed. I would say this is a good cemetery to visit and possibly choose as a final resting place.

At the gravesite before the service it was announced that we are to promptly leave after the service so that the employees don't have to stay longer, then after the service while family was taking pictures the funeral director announced "You don't have to go home but you can't stay here." The shared head stone was pulled up and thoughtlessly thrown to the side. Very classless service and lack of empathy for those mourning. Riverside National Cemetery is a peaceful and restful placed for loved ones. The service was very moving, with a three-volley salute, which is a military honor for those who served. There was also a covered space so guests did not have to stand under the sun. This is a very big cemetery, but once you drive up to the entrance kiosk, you can ask to find a burial space. The grounds are very open and small roads in between to drive through. Parking can be very limited during national holidays and large funeral events. There was almost no parking during Memorial Day when visited earlier this year. And you can't really park outside the cemetery because it's just a large road, with multi-lane traffic. So for non-event days, parking will be easy, but for major events, this is a very busy place.
