In the midst of this process it was determined I would need a homestyle loan which requires specific documentation from the contractor as well as the oversight of a certified inspector during the remaining repair and renovation. The contractor would not comply with what was needed for me to proceed with the loan process. He did provide us (myself and the inspector) an invoice breaking down the funds I had paid ($15,000) and the work completed against those funds. The inspector, who is an experience contractor went through the property to assess what actual work had been done. In some cases, work was claimed to have been done that was not (e.g. claimed to have painted when the property was gutted and there was no way anything could be painted, among others) At one point the contractor asked me for more money, which is when I paid the second payment of $10,000 which in an email he stated would "go toward some mechanicals", which never took place. Not sure how he applied those funds. After the inspector appraised the work done in a very detailed line by line report, it was clear that I was owed approximately $5300 based on what I had paid. I sent this information and request to the contractor by certified mail and also emailed to request the refund, which he has refused to give me. The numbers are more than fair and accurate, I have clearly overpaid for the work done as verified by the construction inspector Doug Hoerth, and I need to receive the refund owed as soon as possible. I have provide them several very gracious opportunities to make this right, however they refuse. I am not asking for all the money back, just a refund on work I paid for that was not done.

Not sure what type of people you have working at your company, but you tried to get a sale when someone tragically died. It is actually disgusting that a person can sit and watch someone get cpr and proceed to try and push through with a sale. I would hope you reconsider how you get your sales because showing up at the fires when people are experiencing a tragedy is an awful and heartless way to do it.

I called and talked with Dylan who returned my call in about 5 minutes to tell me he was sending Julian to help us out. Julian did a fantastic job in addition to being very polite and helpful in explaining things to me. I'd like to add that we had a flooded basement about 20 years ago and SERVPRO promptly took care of that mess for us, too. They are competent and professional in every respect. I highly recommend them!

Aug 13: A microburst hit Bloomington and causing extensive damage on the roof, and subsequent water damage in the living room. The external damage was mitigated by local help and Dale Nafziger. Servpro was called after a claim was filed with Country Insurance (They were amazing). Aug 17: ServPro came out and demanded that my frail dad paid my insurance deductible to them before they can start work. Hmmm, since when are deductibles payable to contractors? My dad paid....of course. He wanted to mitigate and prevent molds. Aug 20: They left boxes so we could "start boxing my things," instead of telling us not to go to the living room as it might cave in anytime. Well, I did not get far, I just got out of the hospital and we my daughter is allergic to mold. Auq 21: They finally started working on the house. Told them they need to remove the floor boards as they were saturated with rain water. They apparently DO NOT keep documentation of what they pitch and what they box. Goodluck remembering what belongings you have, Althea, in the middle of your stroke recovery. Aug 22: The dumpster which I had to insist on having, still not available; and when it finally came, it was never used. When the dumpster was picked up, contents weighed 300lbs; the rest of the trash were on my front lawn and it remained there until September 9. The trash consists of black bags upon black bags of roofing materials, insulation, dry wall, and the hardwood floor and baseboards. Aug 25: I discovered mold in the basement that spread to the ceiling from the affected floor right above it. Yet again, it was not deemed a priority to remove the floors. The project manager was insisting the whole time to that they can restore said floor. Aug 28: I had my second stroke and was in the hospital until the 31st. I went home to my parents' home after. Sept 3: I went to water the plants at my house and check on Servpro progress and found that my house was broken into. The door was kicked open, damaging the lock and the doorframe. Police called to filed report. A few retired Lego sets, some small electronics, signed football jerseys were among the things missing. We are discovering more everyday. On top of this, I find that the trash still have not been picked up and put in the dumpster. Sept 4-5: We picked up the remainder of the LEGO collection that have not been stolen YET and inspected the house more closely and found the appalling state of the living room and the fridge which they said will be treated with chemicals specifically designed to clean up fridges stank, had mysterious liquid residue, and flies. Sept 9: I went to check on my house, and made further accounting of the damagers with my new general contractor, and discovered the air conditioning was not working and had an HVAC come out to check. He found out the thermostat wires were pulled from Servpro pulling off the drywall. It was discovered the same day that while the dumpster was still there in the morning, nobody came back to clean up and do things right as they promised they would. Worse, all the black bags were ripped WIDE open and the contents were spilled all over my lawn. Animals couldn't not have done this wide open holes. Baseboards with exposed nails remain on the lawn/curb. The audacity of this company does not stop there. They are collecting $8200 for this "service" and when they realized they are going to have to fight me to get the money, they prey on my frail dad. They keep texting him, in the hope that he pays them. This is the second week that they have texted him, and not me, the property owner. If this was done to you, would you pay? Is this worth $8200? Awful work....
