The staff here is so friendly and kind. We ordered a chicken power bowl and a batch of fries. The chicken was fresh, as were the vegetables. The fries were thin cut, which I like. Overall the flavor of the food was great. Support small businesses

Catfish and hush puppies

BayShore Fish & Grill has been here for over 30 years. The owners are new and thankfully the original Louisiana Fried Fish batter recipe had been passed on to the new owners. It tastes just like it did many years ago including the hush puppies. I have tried the catfish plate with hush puppies and homemade mac and cheese which is new. The mac and cheese is creamy and flavorful. I added pepper which is just my taste preference. The tartar sauce is also homemade and it's the original Bayshore recipe. I add hot sauce to it and mix. Staff is friendly and they care about the food they make. Inside is clean with a few tables and chairs. Ideal for lunch and now they have breakfast. This area has no fried fish markets and glad to see they are keeping it going!

Pretty good fried seafood place. It's been here awhile and the prices have gone up a bit but still pretty great. Menu was updated too.

I would have to honestly say this was the worst food I have EVER bought in my entire life!!!!!! I went there yesterday after work as I had been there numerous times before when it was under the previous management and the fish was delicious. So I ordered the 18.99 fish combo platter with fish ( smallest pieces I've ever seen), oysters, shrimp and hush puppies. The fish was ready in about 10 mins which surprised me because usually it takes longer to cook it fresh. So... I get home and open the box and grab a shrimp. It was rancid.... I thought maybe it's just that one shrimp.... Tasted another one and it was spoiled as well. Tasted the watery tarter sauce and it was rancid and spoiled as well, as if it had been left out too long. So.... I get back in my car hoping to get a refund for this garbage I just bought. I get to the establishment and the young man behind the counter smelled the rancid shrimp and swore it smelled fresh to him. His Mother the cook, smelled it and of course agreed with her son. The son stated I could not get my $$$ back but I could get something else. Whatever.... So at that time the owner walked in and reintegrated that I could not get my money back and ALSO smelled the rancid shrimp and acted like he didn't notice a smell. At that time I just shut up and took the food I ordered to replace the rotten shrimp order. Took a picture and tossed in the garbage. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!!!!! Not the same food as the previous BayShore. Oh... the chicken wings (1:50 each) are the same size as hush puppies. The potato salad looked like dirty mashed potatoes and the coleslaw was stale. I doubt very seriously if this business will last another year.

Red Snapper, With Coleslaw & Fries
Ronald M.

Bayshore was recommended to my wife by one of her good friends. So my wife brought an order of Red Snapper home today for me to try. The snapper was fried to a satisfying crunch but the sides left much to be desired. With bland coleslaw and fries that were just okay. Their tartar sauce was also a bit weak in our opinion. My wife also noticed their other sides of hush puppies and potato salad but opted not to order them. Decent fish but we're in no rush for another try, if ever.

I have noticed that they have a lot of International foods here and the prices are very affordable. Also discounted items were on display. I just browsed all the aisles, but didn't buy anything on this visit. They have Valerio's Bakery, a nice Seafood department, breads/pastry, packaged food, dairy, poultry, can and jar food and a whole lot more. Just to name a few.. I have noticed that lot of customers were waiting for their fish to be cleaned and fried for free of charge. It smelled good though. Inside you can find restaurants, money changers, street food. It was an interesting place for a first timer and definitely not the last.. Store was nice, big and very clean!! Plenty of parking in front of the store free of charge. Can't wait to go back and do more exploring and will do some shopping from there.

When I opened the fish at home, I discovered what appears to be visible parasites inside the body cavity. Here is the most disturbing part: when I was at the store, the employees strongly insisted that I take advantage of their FREE fish cleaning service. They repeatedly told me: "No, we don't sell it uncleaned, no we don't sell it uncleaned" -- pushing the free cleaning on me. Now I understand why. The free cleaning service removes the guts -- and with them, the visible parasites -- so customers cannot see the true condition of the fish before purchasing. This is deliberately concealing a food safety issue from consumers. I am filing complaints with the Health Department and BBB. I am attaching photos as evidence. Please be cautious and ALWAYS inspect your fish before letting them clean it. Do not let them clean it before you see inside. This is a serious public health concern.

Because of that great experience, we decided to go back after a long time, this time on a Sunday. When we walked in, we immediately noticed a big difference . There were a lot of empty tables. We ordered shrimp cocktails (cócteles de camarón) and sat down. Unfortunately, this time the food was not good at all. The juice in the shrimp cocktail was extremely salty,so salty that I couldn't eat it. I went back to the counter and explained the issue. The girl helping us was very nice and explained that they cure the shrimp with salt since it's not cooked. She offered to remake it, which they did, and I appreciated the effort. However, even the remake just didn't taste good to me. I like my seafood to taste fresh, with a natural seafood flavor not overly salty or loaded with condiments. This experience made me wonder if something has changed at the restaurant, especially since it was so empty compared to our first visit. The staff was friendly and did try to make it right, which I appreciate, but overall this visit was disappointing. Since it's also out of our way and we only stopped because we happened to be in the area, I don't think we'll be coming back. It's unfortunate because our first experience was so much better. The ambiance was pleasant. They had a couple of TVs playing football, music in the background, and the place was clean but the food just didn't live up to our previous experience.

Parking can be a little tricky, especially during lunch hour, but I got lucky and found a spot right in front of the entrance. Once inside, the setup is pretty straightforward: turo-turo style food station on the left and a small Filipino supermarket on the right. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which always makes the experience better. Their lunch combos are reasonably priced depending on your selections, and they have a wide variety of Filipino dishes to choose from. The food I picked was flavorful, fresh, and definitely hit the spot. One quick tip: bring your own reusable bag since they charge $0.15 for a paper bag. Overall, this is a solid option in the SFV when you're craving Filipino food (tastier food compared to Seafood City). I'll definitely be back to try more dishes.
