NY Steak and Shrimp
Mason T.

Overpriced, missing items, extremely long wait While visiting this food truck at a food truck venue called What The Truck, I ordered one item (NY steak and shrimp combo) which I was told comes with fried rice and veggies. I ordered the meat to be cooked medium. I waited well over an hour for my food, and was never informed about an extremely long wait. Everyone that ordered around me waited this long if not longer. When I finally received my food, my order was missing veggies, and the rice was plain and undercooked. The meat was also well done and very hard to chew. This experience was not worth $30, or my time.

Filet Mignon. It was pretty good. I highly recommend.

Ordered the filet mignon. It was pretty good. Highly recommend. They give you a bunch of delicious sauces too. I'm going back for sure.

Hibachi Truck

Have tried this food truck in a few different locations and they all are consistently delicious and pricey. Hibachi style rice dishes with vegetables and your choice of meat, including filet mignon and lobster. The cooking takes a little while but always smoking hot when served., hopefully there isn't a line. This truck has been at this location consistently for about a year and has a decent following.

Supposed to be steak and chicken combo with fried rice. Only got two pieces of steak and no veggies, rice was under cooked

Not even one star ! Terrible service and awful food! Don't ever order anything from them. We waited for an hour and half for terrible food.

I recently tried the Aji hibachi Teppanyaki food truck, and my experience was mixed. It was my third choice since my regular spot was closed. Unfortunately, they didn't offer any steak options that evening, which was disappointing. Furthermore, they didn't get my order right despite my request for spicy rice on both items. The salmon was overcooked, and the chicken turned out dry. However, I must say that the shrimp was a standout, being quite decent. On a positive note, the food truck's location was convenient and easily accessible. They were generous with portion sizes, and the staff was friendly. Reasonable prices were a plus, and the speedy service was appreciated. I also liked the option to dine at the truck, which had an atmosphere resembling that of a chain restaurant. Overall, while there were some shortcomings in the food quality and order accuracy, the affordability, location, and friendly service make it a reasonable choice, especially if you're looking for a quick hibachi or teppanyaki fix. (Side bar -- we order chicken fried rice for both the bowl and plate as well as paid extra and they didn't not add chicken to either)

Can't say enough great things about Aji Teppanyaki! Not only is the flavor amazing, but the service and prices can't be beat. My first time trying this place, but hands down beats the typical restaurants you would go to in the valley. This is my new go to for Teppanyaki. Meat - seasoned and cooked to perfection; Lobster - buttery and divine; fried rice - fluffy and drool inducing; veggies - perfectly sautéed and plentiful; sauces - beyond reproach! If you go anywhere else, you're wasting your money. So thankful we found Aji Teppanyaki! Ernesto puts his heart, sweat and tears into his food and it shows.

The sauces!

Last minute random food stop, the quoted wait time was 20min for a chicken and steak plate but it was ready sooner. They also had a 2 dish deal for $40 bucks even which was cool. Steak quality was great. Fried rice was delicious. The chicken was also very good but I'd do steak and try the shrimp next time. Veggies were also cooked just right; not over or under cooked. The sauces were also very tasty! The funny thing is I've been to other tepenyaki sit down restaurants and the food was not as great as the food here. Overall great food truck experience and would try again if in the area!

Had Aji tonight parked on Laurel Canyon at Ritchie Valens park. They took my order and gave me exactly that, NY steak (medium rare) and chicken. Food was really good and one of the guys that brought out my order was nice enough to give me a soda with my order! Also not stingy with the sauce! If you want a hibachi plate that won't disappoint 10/10 recommend.

Worm in my food

I went to get a plate of teppanyaki that I have been craving for a while and had not been able to eat because of interior cervical surgery that I had. I was so excited to enjoy this and as I was eating I came to this disgusting surprise a worm in my food. I am so disappointed will never go back.

sauces.they only gave 1 white sauce even though I think I did ask them to give us more....

This place is more like 2 stars. But COVID! We had to wait a long time for our food. I don't think the owners/chefs of this food truck are asian...and I mean, the food isn't the best teppanyaki. It's still better to eat at actual teppanyaki restaurants. Couldn't really distinguish ny steak from the more expensive filet mignon. But I think my bf said it was the new york steak that I liked more (he's more of a steak fan). The fm had too much of a red meat aftertaste, don't know how else to describe it. White sauce was lacking, though we asked for more. The other sauces were just ok. Shrimp and rice were super ok. I wished the fried rice tasted better, it was pretty plain.

Is it possible to have a true teppanyaki expierence from a truck? Well the whole expierence is just not possible when trying to watch the show from the sidewalk, but the food was what you would expect from a high end Teppanyaki resturant, but so was the prices. The quality of the food was good, and cooked well. Flavors were also pretty good, though I thought the beef lacked some real flavor. The highlight for me was the grilled vegetables (cooked perfectly and I don't rave about veggies) and the garlic rice. Like I said the prices were high for a food truck but average for a resturant of this style, so if you want the flavor minus the show then Aji is the perfect combo for you, Aloha

Chicken Plate

I was completely dissatisfied with this. It was unfairly hyped by celebrities. The chicken was way too salty, nearly any protein or vegetable plate was filled with fried rice.

Unfortunately, this visit didn't live up to what we remembered. Being given plastic utensils while dining in was surprising, especially at this price point. The service and food were just okay, and the "miso soup" was actually plain chicken broth, which was disappointing and unexpected. Overall, it didn't feel like the same experience we used to enjoy. I hope this is taken as constructive criticism, as we'd love to see the quality return to what it once was.

We waited almost 40 minutes to be seated, which wasn't a problem because we had a birthday girl who chose this dinner, no biggie. However, once we were seated at 8-ish our cook didn't get to our table until an hour later. Sure they brought us drinks, salad and miso soup (which was lackluster) so we had to add a bit of soy sauce. Which also wasn't a big deal. However, we all were so tired by the time the food arrived, we ate and didn't even realize our chef didn't even give us a performance. Although the food was good, I literally and genuinely feel like I robbed and held hostage and paid them for $400 for it! I just know for future reference whenever someone suggests Teppanyaki it's a HELL NO for me! Uncle loves you though
