Less than a hour and half…read morefrom San Francisco, my girlfriend and I took a long weekend in Tomales Bay, and we stayed at the Inn on Tomales Bay. The innkeeper, Bob, greeted us in person when we arrived around 11:30pm; He personally showed us to our room and calmly described how ordering breakfast worked, gave us wifi credentials, and then let us relax. If you're looking for upscale luxury, this is not the place for you. If you're looking for an exceptionally clean, cozy, and well run B&B than look no further. You're staying in a tranquil, untroubled place that persuades you to decompress and clear your mind. Notable Amenities: - WiFi - Feminine products in the bathroom - Novels and light music - Fireplace - Continental breakfast - Binoculars - Hiking backpack - Mini refrigerator What is provided to you promotes relaxation and exploring your surroundings. We spent our mornings in the room eating breakfast, listening to Claude Debussy and watching the mist clear over the bay. We then headed out to go kayaking all day, had oysters and champagne for dinner, then retreated back to the B&B to cozy up in front of the fire. *Note About Breakfast* Breakfast is brought to your room and includes the following: tea, orange juice, and an assortment of breads (blueberry, coffee, pumpkin, poppyseed, etc.) *Note About Your Surroundings* You are near a few restaurants, and a light breakfast is provided, otherwise not much is around. I would suggest bringing some fruits/veggies and other light snacks when you are out during the day.

The view..oh..the view, it was awesome. We sat in the dark watching the bay in the full moon night. It can't get better than this. The breakfast was great and the conversation with Bob was even better. We'll definitely go back!

The…read moreapproach alone feels like a transition - winding roads, rolling hills, glimpses of the Pacific. As dusk settles and darkness blankets the land, the drive is clearly marked and welcoming. A fire glows outside the lobby, where guests gather for complimentary s'mores from the front desk. Melissa greeted me that evening - jovial, warm, and effortlessly efficient. Check-in felt less like a transaction and more like an arrival. After settling in, we walked up to Mable's just up the hill. The air was crisp. Jackie seated us outside, wiping down the table and setting up the heater while asking what brought us there. The service felt attentive without being intrusive - thoughtful in a way that made you feel both seen and relaxed. The manager recommended the oysters (sourced just down the hillside), clam chowder, beef short ribs, carrots, and potatoes he described as "ridiculously good." He wasn't wrong. One bite and I understood the confidence behind the recommendation. Jackie crafted a mezcal cocktail - technically out of season due to its pomegranate base - so she improvised beautifully. It was smoky, warm and sweet; perfect for the evening. Every dish felt intentional and dessert was too - chocolate mousse, peanut butter, caramel, roasted marshmallow, quinoa bark, and peanuts that melted together in a single, perfectly balanced bite. Later, I returned to the now-quiet fire, made one last s'more, and sat in stillness. There was a palpable sense of history on the land - a peaceful awareness of all who had gathered there before. The room was simple and deeply comfortable. I read before wrapping myself in crisp sheets and falling asleep on a cool pillow. In the morning, wrapped in a Marconi robe, I walked to the sauna and meditated - alternating between closed eyes and views of trees and the Pacific beyond. After a hot shower, I packed up and chose a nearby trail. The hike unfolded like a story: a solitary yellow chair overlooking rolling hills and ocean; the distant sound of cattle; clusters of seats that felt as if laughter had only just faded; historic buildings standing quietly in time; a small pond alive with frogs; ravens calling overhead; forest trails opening into meadow views. Eventually, the paths brought me back near Mable's. For breakfast, Haven greeted me and I chose the same table from the night before. I ordered the French toast after seeing the light in the eyes of my waitress when she described it - along with black coffee and scrambled eggs. Robert, the manager, stopped by to ask about my stay and suggested one final trail before I left. He was right - it was the perfect closing note. The Lodge at Marconi offers more than a stay. It offers space - to breathe, to wander, to reconnect. Wherever you're traveling from, you may just find solace here.

Upon checking out they charged us $25 for the water. There was no indication we would be charged, and when we called about it they said there was a sheet in the room with a price list that we did not even see. They said the price list has things like umbrellas and bath robes on it, which I would fully expect to be charged for if I took, but not water. Very poor service, would not recommend.

There is nothing private about this room, which is tucked next to the carport of a large house and shares the yard with the house: no privacy at all! It is only romantic if you think tiny quarters filled with old junk is romantic. Now, I love quirky places, but this goes beyond quirky and into the realm of a dump. I highly advise you to LOOK ELSEWHERE if you want a clean, quiet and private get-away. There are plenty of other places to stay in the area: GIVE THIS ONE A MISS! We made the mistake of booking a weekend here, only to arrive, see what it really looks like, then immediately leave. Luckily, I had arranged before arrival for a full refund if we didn't like the place - also recommended if you feel the need to give it a try.

Somehow, the website for this "Bed & Breakfast' fails to mention that this is a very tiny studio and the "Eurobed' is a uncomfortable, squeaky Murphy bed that effectively cuts the room in half when it's pulled down. But you'll need to move some furniture out of the way before you can even open the bed. There was no advertised 'down comforter' and the furnishings are very tired and dreary - think worn thrift store quality. Even the candles on the small dining table were dusty, burned down stubs. The kitchen area is tiny, with no room to work, and some of the appliances were located in areas you couldn't even plug them in! And the flatware that came out of the drawer was noticeably greasy and had to be washed before we could use them. The deck is also small and in heavy shade most of the day - there was a small cafe table and 2 chairs and two dusty lounge chairs you wouldn't want to use - certainly nothing like the B & B website photos. Hot tub is small but functional - but not truly private, as your view from the deck opens out to the owners backyard lawn and the monstrous house which is right next door. The gazebo on Inverness Bay has a lovely view, but it, like everything else here, is rough and beaten up - not a clean or comfortable place to hang out. There are many, many other nicer places to stay in Inverness and areas around Tomales Bay - this was the worst "Bed & Breakfast' or vacation rental of any kind we'd ever stayed at. Unless you don't care about ambiance and comfort, don't even consider staying here.

Creamer, coffee, tea, eggs, butter, english muffins, jellies, and fruit provided. Cute, boho style furniture with some shaker style pieces - very nicely decorated. Beautiful blue and white tiled bathroom with shower only - wonderful water pressure and hot water! Tony and Jan supply body wash, shampoo, and conditioner (Neutrogena Rainbath and Pantene at the time of my visit). Small wood-burning stove with logs and all the tools needed to keep a fire going. Wifi signal was great - I watched some Netflix and joined a Zoom meeting from my own computer and had no issues with either. Hot tub was great. Outdoor space to sit at a nice table with four chairs and a nice looking BBQ. I saw an elk roaming on the property, lots of quail and other birds (they have a pictorial guide of birds hanging by the front door right as you walk in). The yurt is on a gravel road. You pass the neighbor's sheep and horses as you drive in. Point Reyes Station is literally right around the corner - a 2-3 minute drive - with lots of food, great markets and shopping. Inverness is a 5-minute drive (if that). The yurt is very conveniently located. I passed Jan and Tony and Stella, their dog, on the way out one night - very friendly and made sure I had everything I needed. I will be thrilled when the opportunity comes to visit again!!
