You know that film Must Love Dogs, based on what people put in lonely hearts columns? The Bay Tree in Southport is the hotel interpretation of this phrase. Because they love dogs. It's so rare to find a hotel that's actually willing to accommodate a pet as opposed to turn their nose up at your poor pooch, but this place will bend over backwards for Rover. In fact, your pal might find a friend in the form of the owners' own dog.
Near to Churchtown, this animal-friendly headrest is ideal for either couples or families and the family-run nature of the place means it's kind and considerate. Rooms are perfectly adequate, with comfy beds, fridges for your own drink storage, a TV with not only a DVD player but DVDs to watch, excellent breakfasts and complimentary sweets. Not just a few thrown on your pillow, a whole basket of the bad boys. The manager is so very sweet and the staff are warm and welcoming, but on top of that the prices are ridiculously competitive, especially for such a nice area of Southport. You won't believe you're paying so little.
An excellent little hotel and the lovely dog is just fabulous. I was most impressed. It was a short stay but I was always in a good mood throughout thanks to that place. read more
