I told him I needed someone to take me to doctor's and help clean house. He brought a nice woman named Susan to help me. He wanted to know the days and hours I needed her and I gave them to him. He didn't tell me she had to stay four hours and she had to call him immediately after leaving and she was required to report what happened here. Twice I told her to leave early because I was sick and needed to be alone. She reported this to Benjamin Sawyer and he took my hours and days away from me without my knowledge. I called telling him I was upset over this. He threw it up to me that they weren't a taxi service. I said I told you in the beginning what I needed and you went along with it. I texted him I was still upset that Susan gave him a bad report. He texted me he wanted no more messages about being upset. I called him this morning and his wife answered. I tried to tell her there was a communication problem. I told him I liked Susan who he sent to help me and said I hope you all pay her for her mileage and he told me that was no concern of mine. The last call he said, "No wonder you're by yourself, Susan isn't coming back." This was when I tied in with him calling him a few choice words. Don't call him for help is my advice.

Suddenly, her caregiving needs seems to explode. I live across the country and was dealing with my own health issue, couldn't travel to Virginia. My sister is nearby but works full-time. I reached out to SHS Hampton Roads on a Sunday. I heard back from Ben immediately. He and Kebe were able to meet with my mom and sister the next day. We had SHS care in the home that week. The care my mom has received from SHS has been great. It is easy to communicate with Ben and Kebe re: scheduling or other questions. My mom has enjoyed getting to know her caregivers, and we trust them with our mom's care. This is a unique caregiving model.

Facility is not managed well. Empathy and understanding, listening and addressing concerns was…read moresomething that is severly lacking. We were heartbroken as a family that our 88 year old loved one needs were not met. I will just list things for people to be aware of in memory care unit. Very few staff to care for residents Overwhelming smell of feces and urine Bed bound patients are not protected from active residents Personal belongings are not protected. Items missing on a daily basis Loved one dressed in someone else's clothes often No toilet paper available Hygiene products disappear Room over 80 degrees often. Residents can unplug AC and TV in anyone's unit No assistance with feeding Fall risk ratings not evident. Refusal of incident reports after major fall requiring surgery. These residents are alone and not properly cared for. They are often short staffed and many visits, the State ratios were not followed. It's a massive revolving door of staff and it's rare to see the same person twice. On more than one occasion, I would ask a worker a question, and there response was, "I have no idea, this is my first time here." Some of the residents you walk by in passing look absolutely miserable, and uncared for. I wanted to just go in some of the rooms and just change these poor defenseless people. They have lost their dignity with a skeleton crew to hopefully give them 10 min every few hours. It is the saddest, most heart breaking experience of my life. These people are someone's loved one. After barely 3 months at this facility, our loved one declined so drastically, and after her hospital stay with her broken hip, she was put on hospice. I asked for an incident report and proof that 2 hour checks were completed. I was denied and told that these were internal documents only. Please please, just do your homework. Look into the reviews. Check licensing website to look at the history of serious violations. It's public information and its not pretty! A good facility starts at the top with management that shows care and concern for people's loved ones. You will not get that at this facility. My mother -in-law died as a direct lack of care, and complete non-compliance or following policy and procedures. She went in memory care walking, and months later we are planning her funeral. Take the time and go to Virginia Department of Social Service Assisted Living and look at the violations.

I obtained a tour of the community very quickly and my daughter and I visited The Waterford at Virginia Beach and were pleased to find that it is a beautiful place safe and person-centered, very nice, and spacious, and has every accommodation that anyone could ever want and need. I was greatly impressed. We were impressed with Jane Lee Warren, who assisted us with a tour. I would say the individuals appeared to be very comfortable, active and pleased. I was pleasantly surprised that the Waterford was the type of place where you could live with dignity and respect while still maintaining a good quality of life, Waterford offers a variety of activities in the form of computer accommodations, library, movies, fine dining, a spacious community area where everyone can commune and enjoy football, etc. just a great place for anybody to reside. my first time meeting the Waterford staff; the professionalism is top tier. The Waterford offers and maintains optimal care and a high quality of life.!I recommend the Waterford as a viable option when selecting an assistant living community. I wasn't able to take advantage of what was offered. Sadly, my husband had another idea. However, I know the option is always available. I thank everyone who made our experience calm and pleasant as opposed to being a task. Thank you.

My 88 year-old father was a resident in 2023 and my 86 year-old mother is a resident in 2024. The house is quaint, clean, has a lovely yard and is easy to get to in the Great Neck area of Virginia Beach. The owner, Charlene Livers, cares greatly for the residents well-being. She does her best to work with families to meet resident needs. It is a tough transition for many people to have to rely on 24/7 care. In my experience, moving to any assisted living environment is hard and it isn't one size fits all. We tried a couple of places before moving to Living Well. It is the right fit for our family right now.

Mom was the first of only three residents to reside there since August 27, 2021. Note: all the prior reviews were not written by a family member of someone living at Living Well Assisted Living. Wonderful promises were made by the owner on our first visit. Within weeks things quickly deteriorated. Problems arose and her promises of what she was going to provide for the residents and their families quickly changed as did her demeanor and personality. In the almost nine months Mom was a resident, not one month went by that things were as represented to us. There are major problems going on within the facility. A handful of the nurses were absolutely amazing and I feel offered excellent care and companionship to the residents while there were others that provided a large portion of the care who would barely speak to the residents. There is such a lack of communication, and the owner would frequently try to dodge any responsibility throwing her staff under the bus. There was a constant turnover in staff. A few of the most egregious experiences are as follows. Medications were given by individuals without proper certification or training. Finding out after requesting my moms medication records that one of her critical medications was not given to her for 14 days one month and the following month was not give to her for 7 days during that month. In addition numerous other medications were not given or were not given in the proper timeframes. After that my requests for specific times that medications were given were refused because her attorney advised her not to give out that information. I encourage you to research and review the Virginia Department of Social Services website to see the numerous violations the facility has received. It also needs to be mentioned that there are so many things currently advertised on their website that either have not been done or had only been done a handful of times during Moms stay. We are so thankful that as of yesterday she has moved after having been on a waiting list elsewhere for some four months. At this time there is only one other resident at Living Well Assisted Living. I hope that this information has provided some insight as you are making your decision on where to place your loved one.

My grandmother was hesitant because she is used to her home, but she needed to downsize and be able to socialize. The only issue I had was after we moved her out, they took $3000+ out of her account that they weren't supposed to.
