We've lived in the house for over 40 years and were used to sweaters and sweats in the winter and during our hot days spending more time in the cooler downstairs. We now leave the thermostat set at 64 for a low and 74 for a high and the heater rarely goes on. Today (9/9/2026) we think the AC might actually go on later today. Yesterday the house never even reached 74. We had building efficiency do the insulation almost 2 years ago and have gotten so used to our house being in a comfortable range all the time we rarely even think about it. This latest heatwave has reminded us of how glad we are that we did it and that we should give them a plug again! The process itself is fairly disruptive but doesn't take too long and Building Efficiency was very profesional and helpful in minimizing the disruption. Our only regret is that we didn't do it long ago.

He took over an hour to very patiently go over our PG&E bill, how our solar system impacts the bill, and various ways to save. He was extremely knowledgeable and professional -- and super smart -- so it was an informative and enjoyable experience, learning more about my family's energy use and how to save money. I would strongly recommend Sapling to anyone who has solar but isn't really sure if they are getting the most of it, or not sure how they might enhance it.

He did not try to sell us anything and also told us that we did not need to buy a battery or anything else. Colin took his time and answered all our questions about the solar we have and how we can cut down our NEM charges. He made suggestions about how we can cut down the usage of our air conditioning, medical devices, and Holiday Lights. These savings could amount to over $1000 a year. It was wonderful to finally be able to understand our PGE bill and what trends we have experienced over the last 2 years. A True knowledgeable professional Advocate! I submitted an…read moreonline request for an estimate and Emily got back to me almost immediately, letting me know that Joe was out on a job but would contact me later. About 30 minutes later, Joe texted to say he would call at 2:00 -- and he did! We arranged an onsite estimate, and from the moment I met Joe, I was impressed. He listened to what I was trying to accomplish, answered all of my questions, explained my options, and made me feel both heard and informed. He also had a newer team member with him whom he was training, and I was equally impressed by the patience and care he showed in teaching him. I received three bids for my attic insulation project, and I chose SDI hands down because of my experience with Joe. From there, Alfredo was terrific to work with. He worked with my schedule to find a day that worked for me and was incredibly easy to reach by phone or text whenever I had a question or needed to confirm details. On installation day, Sergio, David and Miguel were fantastic. They arrived, got everything set up and went right to work. They were careful with my home, incredibly thorough, and when I had questions, Sergio took the time to come down, talk with me and then personally went into the attic and took a video so I could see the completed work. And when they were finished -- no muss, no fuss. Everything was cleaned up beautifully. They even touched up the paint around the attic access where they had been working. Other than having a newly insulated attic, you wouldn't have known a crew had been working in my home all day. The entire SDI team -- from Emily and Joe, to Alfredo, to Sergio, David and Miguel -- was responsive, professional, knowledgeable and genuinely pleasant to work with. This team was amazing, and I would absolutely recommend SDI.

Their communication with me was excellent, and everyone I interacted with was extremely professional and very skilled in their respective tasks. Big thanks (!) to Joran, Sergio, Gene, David, and the other crew members whose names I didn't get. TY! I feel very comfortable recommending SDI's work - they did what they said they would do, and they did it quickly and professionally! Their estimate was competitively priced; it was neither the cheapest nor the priciest., but all things considered, SDI seemed to offer the best value for our money. I'm also very pleased with the results of the insulation! We had R15 fiberglass blown into our exterior walls, and even after just one night I can tell the house is much quieter. Today's outside temp has been in the mid-50's, which is chilly for early May, so I'm able to write this review with oddly good timing: new insulation works, lol! I'm now very eager to see what it does in the summer heat, which was our main reason for having it blown in. All in all, I am very pleased with the SDI did on our home and feel quite comfortable recommending their services to other homeowners.

Prior to coming out, he established a Covid compliant plan which included masks, doors to rooms w/vents being opened and where/when to put the dogs out. Mind you back then we didn't know Covid wasn't really on surfaces, so I would go through and close doors after they didn't need them. The whole thing was smooth. The testing with all the Covid stuff took less than an hour. We all had masks on and they really didn't touch a thing. Now I realize we're pretty much out of Covid protocol now, but he was able to adjust a month into Covid and do so that seamlessly. That says a LOT about the type of business he runs. Josh did a great job. I had all the paperwork I needed for my permit. I felt safe. I felt like he was taking the Covid precautions seriously, which made me feel as though he took testing seriously. I was happy to have found him.

The initial consultation, needs assessment and design went smoothly. It's clear that Eric, Diane and Tony are experts in what they do. The demo and installation phase went incredibly smoothly and was on time. The installers are all excellent at their jobs, from the technical side to clear and professional communications. The project wrapped up with a walk through a few weeks after completion to make sure everything worked well, which I appreciated. Most importantly, I went from a house that had lots of spots with no cooling to my new HVAC system now cooking the entire 1,600sf house equally and quietly. And the price was clear, fair, with no added costs later in the project. I look forward to my next project with emeraldECO - install solar and battery!

The project went in two stages: one day, the electrical crew arrived and took care of the kitchen, and also replaced the shoddy job on the electrical subpanel done by the rooftop solar vendor the year before. The second stage was the arrival of the plumbing crew, who came to remove and dispose of the old water heater and install the new one. In both cases, the crews were highly professional, amiable, and careful about leaving my home clean. The price for their work was reasonable--especially if one considers that they made a convincing argument that I didn't need to upgrade my electrical panel, saving me thousands of dollars. And, as promised, the impact on my electrical bill has been negligible, while my gas usage has been reduced to pennies per day.
