Had a wonderful experience with Bob Emmett. He was nice and very informative. Plus he gave me great references for an electrician.

I hired this company to do the work on my house that was recommended in a home energy assessment…read morecompleted last year. Initially Alex Minaboo, the owner, came to look the job over and in that visit recommended replacing all the heating ducts in the house. He tried to sell me a heat pump system which I did not want to do since the existing furnace is only three years old. There was nothing in the home energy assessment report indicating I needed to replace the furnace or the ducts. A few weeks later, the foreman (I think that is his role) came by to assess the job, and said he did not think the ducts needed to be replaced as they were still quite new. I opted to not replace the ducts but to proceed with the air sealing of the heating system that was recommended in the home energy assessment. Alex later said the air sealing could cause a problem for the furnace, which he said was too large for this size house. He suggested that adding an additional heat register might mitigate a potential problem with rapid cycling, and I opted to do this. In the course of All Things Good sealing the heating ducts and adding the new register, the blower on the furnace stopped working. Alex deflected and denied responsibility for his company causing the problem, disparaged another company that had installed the furnace, and argued that his company could not be held responsible for damages when something breaks in an old house while they are working on it, referring me to a clause in their contract. To fix the furnace, All Things Good charged $1200.00 in labor costs (for a job that took no more than 2 hours on site) and the blower was about $700 more). I have always thought "if you break it, you fix it" and I was floored by how this was being handled, but since I do not know HVAC systems and could not in good conscience argue that I was certain the breakdown was caused by their work, I proposed we split the bill for fixing the furnace. My offer was refused. Alex then had the gall to argue he was already giving me a discount on labor costs, and threatened that if I did not pay he would put a lien on my house. I paid the bill because it was not worth my time to fight with All Things Good. I see a number of positive reviews here and at least one that is like mine. My experience was very unsatisfactory and I will certainly never use this company again.

And then it turned out that they were much busier than they said they were and they encouraged me to just do the project in January and commit tax fraud and say I had done it in December. When I finally got them to agree to an end of December date, it then turned out that they didn't have the permit in time. So then they encouraged me to break the law and let them start to work without a permit. When I said I didn't want to do anything illegal and I didn't want to proceed if it was then going to cost thousands of extra dollars because they couldn't get it done when they said they would, they then terminated the contract and said they were going to send me a bill for $800 and sue me if I didn't pay I did not have a great experience with this company

She then started talking about how much money she was saving every month from all these new light bulbs and this custom emergency kit she was building for her family. So I reached out to Friday for the emergency kit information and ended up hiring her (read: asking my mom to "gift" me her services for my birthday I was so excited) and now I'm obsessed with reducing my carbon footprint and creating a healthier household for my family. What I absolutely love is how easy she makes it to make changes. I think the task of going "green" in your home can seem daunting but with her report with links to everything makes it SO easy!! Every two weeks (i.e. payday) I go into the document and purchase a couple more items for the house and get so excited throwing away / recycling or finding a new use for plastic items. And honestly, a lot of the changes we have made so far are going to save us money! The new toilet paper delivery we have, the new all natural house hold clearer... and the UNpaper towels I'm going to buy... and she's not sponsored by anyone, just finds good companies for her clients. I could go on and on and on, it feels so good to have a plan and to be setting an example for my kids. I highly recommend you hire her!!!!

Their communication with me was excellent, and everyone I interacted with was extremely professional and very skilled in their respective tasks. Big thanks (!) to Joran, Sergio, Gene, David, and the other crew members whose names I didn't get. TY! I feel very comfortable recommending SDI's work - they did what they said they would do, and they did it quickly and professionally! Their estimate was competitively priced; it was neither the cheapest nor the priciest., but all things considered, SDI seemed to offer the best value for our money. I'm also very pleased with the results of the insulation! We had R15 fiberglass blown into our exterior walls, and even after just one night I can tell the house is much quieter. Today's outside temp has been in the mid-50's, which is chilly for early May, so I'm able to write this review with oddly good timing: new insulation works, lol! I'm now very eager to see what it does in the summer heat, which was our main reason for having it blown in. All in all, I am very pleased with the SDI did on our home and feel quite comfortable recommending their services to other homeowners.

We had a fantastic experience working with Matt Cantor of Cantor Inspections. The level of detail…read moreand depth of knowledge he provides easily justify the cost of the inspection, which pays for itself several times over when deciding who and what work to do. Matt conducted a very thorough inspection and, more importantly, helped my family understand how to prioritize the work our home needed. His report gave us the knowledge and confidence to speak with contractors and make sure we were focusing on the right repairs rather than unnecessary work. What really stood out was that Matt didn't disappear after the inspection. He remained available for follow-up questions and was incredibly generous with his time and advice as we evaluated contractor proposals. His insight helped us navigate some very expensive recommendations and focus on practical, staged solutions instead. If you want a home inspector who is thoughtful, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping homeowners make smart decisions, I can't recommend Matt highly enough. Working with him was invaluable for our family.

He wears many hats--part inspector, part anthropologist, part design historian, and so much more. Matt was communicative and able to fit in an inspection of my home almost immediately. I also found his rate to be very affordable, especially given the quality of work and his attention to detail. Long Form Review - I live in Oakland and have a craftsman style house built in 1913. My wife and I bought the house in 2022 as first time homebuyers. We have been so happy in the home, but it has a range of issues and quirks, as I imagine all century-old buildings do. We have done several repairs and renovations on the home already and have many more projects planned. From the initial inspection report and after having lived in the home for 3 years, we thought we had a pretty good idea of what projects and repairs needed to come next. However, before committing any more time and money to any future projects, we felt that we needed an expert, third-party source to help us reevaluate the home, prioritize future work, and identify urgent repairs. This was the context with which I reached out to Matt at Cantor Inspections. I initially messaged Matt via Yelp, and he got back to me almost immediately. Even though he was traveling internationally at the time, he was incredibly communicative and was able to schedule me as soon as he got back from his trip. On the day of the inspection, Matt arrived on time and was more than happy to have me shadow him. The inspection took about 6 hours and I was probably able to follow Matt around for 80-90% of it, observing, taking notes, and picking his brain over a myriad of different issues. Matt is warm, kind, and patient. He answered all of my questions and provided me with quite the history lesson regarding Craftsmen style homes, as well as lessons on construction techniques, material science, engineering, and much, much more. I also found Matt to be empathetic and understanding of my unique situation, more than willing to talk through the issues that were most salient to me. In terms of the report itself and Matt's work, I found it to be very in-depth and comprehensive. In the Recommendations section, Matt does a great job of identifying an issue, describing why that issue is a problem, and outlining steps to fixing said issue. Overall, Cantor Inspections went above and beyond in helping my wife and I reevaluate our home, prioritize future work, and identify urgent repairs. Lastly, I'll add that Matt was great with our dog and cat, who also followed Matt around for most of the day.
