My mom's Accord had accumulated years of side-swipes and fender benders, and she wanted to have it all finally fixed. It was all going to be out of pocket. I used yelp's "Get Pricing" quote tabs is collect some quotes. Most shops responded by telling me to come in, so they could give me an estimate. Not even a ball park figure. Um, why did I go to all the trouble of taking 5 clear shots of all the work I needed and including a concise description of exactly what I wanted to be done only to still have to come in for the quote? I mean why offer the quote option at all? So only a few places actually sent me quotes. Those are the only ones I engaged. Thankfully, one of them was Bay Colors Refinishing. Their quote of $3000 was the lowest, tied with another shop. The others were $3500 and above. I decided that it would be between Bay Colors and the other shop since they offered the same price and both averaged 5 star reviews. So I took it to both of them to get estimates based on actual visuals. Really, who has the time and trunkloads of gas money to go to all these other quote-less guys? I went to Bay Colors first. Kathy who handled communication was great. Always prompt and friendly. When I got there, the owner, Tri (like in tree) was under a car doing work, but soon stopped just so that I could get the estimate quickly. He said he would honor the quote of $3000. I was pleasantly surprised he was actually willing to straight honor the quote! I drove to the other place. The guy making the assessment quoted $4700! I almost laughed, but bit my tongue to be nice because at least he had let me use their restroom. As I was quietly and hastily side-stepping back to my car, he saw I was trying to escape, and quickly said, 'How much were you looking for?" Me: "Um, $3000..." Him: Silence. I would've burned rubber out if there, but didn't want to push the Honda's older engine. I also wanted to rush home to check the mirror to see if my smile was somehow seriously betraying a gullible-fool face. I mean how do you hike it up $1,700?? Even if you were thinking you were willing to come down half of that during bargaining, do you really believe I would accept $850 over the online quote?? Not to self: Adjust smile to look more intimidating and less moronic. (If you want to know the name of the shop, message me. I didn't actually use their services, so I don't feel like calling them out.) Another thing I also appreciated about Bay Colors is that after bringing my car in, Tri did find things that could have legitimately hiked up the price. But he said even with the extra work, he would stick to the quote. I got the sense that he truly wanted to help take care of me and my car, not just rack up a quick buck. So I chose Bay Colors and eventually dropped the car off there. When I was about to leave Kathy asked me how I was getting back home. I told her I would be BARTing back to Oakland. They ended up calling and paying for an uber to take me to the BART station! One of the best customer service experiences of any kind I've ever had. After a few days, I went to pick up the car and it looked great! I did notice that the hood still didn't completely close all the way as I had mentioned when I first brought it in and pointed it out to Tri again. He soon went to work on it quickly, and made sure it closed right. On top of that they had even meticulously vacuumed the interior! I'm really glad I chose Bay Colors. Even though it's in Hayward, and I had to BART down from Oakland, it was definitely worth the trip! read more

I recently had a minor incident with my 2024 Escalade V, where I accidentally ran into the garage and damaged the spoiler. What to do? I reached out to a local Bay Color Refinishing Auto-body shop being all stressed and worried I was surprised by how easy it was to make an appointment. Kathy took the time to explain everything and assured me that the spoiler would be as it originally was. I would like to mention I did take it to another detailer right after the incident and wasn't happy of the quality of work. After some online research I spoke to Kathy over the phone she was incredibly helpful and professional throughout the entire process. They took my car in, and within just five days, I had my car back with a brand-new spoiler that was perfectly matched to the original paint. Like WOW!!!! The quality of the repair was outstanding, and the service I received was excellent from start to finish. I'm especially grateful to Guy, the office team manager, for ensuring everything went smoothly and stress-free. Thank you again for the fantastic service! Will I be back, yes and would I recommend Kathy and team defiantly. My husband took a picture with the man with the magic hands. read more

Wow, what a phenomenal experience. I love that they don't play games, get straight to the point and honor what they quote. The price is extremely competitive and makes the drive out there worth it. Some other companies wouldn't even give an estimate and stated that I needed to go in to get a quote for very minor damage -- no thanks. I messaged Tri on Yelp and he quickly provided an estimate. He let me know I could drop off the car and he would get it back to me the next day (you read that correctly!). The straight forward communication with no pressure won me over. The morning I showed up, Guy mentioned that he was expecting me and was told by Tri to prioritize my car. It was surprising that I didn't have to provide my name, or explain what my issue was. It made everything so seamless to drop off my car and get going. It really felt like royal treatment! Guy is a wonderful face for the company because of his customer service. He's personable and extremely easy to talk to. I felt very well taken care of throughout the entire process and could not stop talking about my experience to my family and coworkers who couldn't care less. A company's service is what gains a customer's loyalty and they have mine. The price is unbeatable and work is phenomenal. Other companies I was getting quotes from mentioned that they wouldn't even attempt to repair the plastic trim (diffuser) and I would have to get a replacement part to swap it out (a $300+ part). I was willing to just leave it as is, but Tri and his team were able to get it looking brand new! Wonderful experiences really stick with me and I'll be remembering this for a long time (even though they probably already forgot about me and my car). I'm so glad I found a reliable, honest company and I'll be recommending Bay Colors as long as Tri and Guy are both here. NOTE -- they charge a 3% fee for credit cards so just bring cash if you have a large bill. read more

I really don't like writing bad reviews; however, I was involved in my first car collision and knew I needed to find a place to get my car fixed. My insurance told me they can recommend places, or I can find my own. So, I was calling places to get an estimate, and this place was the first place I called to see if I could come in for one. The person I spoke to on the phone was plain rude, and the tone sounded annoyed just by asking him questions, and him telling me there's no need for an estimate, just come in and get your car fixed here. I told the person was talking to on the phone (don't remember his name) to let me think about it. Since he was rude to me, I just wanted to end the call and find somewhere else that was nicer and friendlier than him. Honestly, as a business, I think that if someone is calling in regarding getting their car fixed, and asking questions, you as a business shouldn't be rude to the possible client just by them asking questions . Maybe they had a bad day, but still. read more

I know this is long, but really wanted you to know how they helped me out. My car was stolen and the ins comp had it sent to Lexus to have them check it out. The funny thing is Lexus originally quoted me $19,000, for cosmetic work only that didn't include paint, tires or rims that emoji says it all. The car was there for 2 weeks & the only thing they did was change the oil & the coolant. NOW, why did that take 2 weeks I don't know. Now, I'm stressed trying to find a body shop close to me. So, I started my research. I started on Yelp, went through a few places until I got to "Bay Colors"! I spoke to Tri (pronounced Tree) he was absolutely awesome!!! My insurance comp was suppose to have it towed to the body shop from Lexus a whole day goes by & it was never picked up. I was so frustrate that I contacted Tri and he told me don't worry about it. I'll have it towed and that's exactly what he did. He finished it at the time I was promised. A couple of things had to be done & he took care of it right away It just amazes me how a dealership gets over on people especially woman, all the money they wanted for all the cosmetic work w/o paint, tires or rims, Tri did it all a lot lower than Lexus. As a matter of fact, I already referred 2 people who's going to see him next week. They're coming from the City, but when the work & price is great, people will drive farther to get a great deal read more

I wish I could give them more stars!!! I brought my 2013 Lexus to them after a collision and after visiting every shop in the Tri Valley area. I'm a widow and getting the car fixed and painted was a big, stressful headache for me. Kathy is absolutely wonderful to deal with, polite, kind and professional and so is the Owner of this establishment. They truly did a beautiful job. The paint job is seamless and the car looks gorgeous again. They also caught a few structural issues and that also was handled by them. The lowest bid I got was over $6,000.00 and went as high as $12,000.00. They did it for thousands$$$ less. But the beauty of it is their workmanship, they really know their craft. So to all the ladies out there having to deal with an accident or damage to your vehicle, do yourself a BIG favor and give them a call, Kathy is wonderful right from the first phone call and will help you and save you thousands going somewhere else. I didn't think I was going to find a shop like this and almost gave up. They are the nicest people, honest, professional, and not outrageous in their pricing, and I would know after going to a dozen different shops, all acting like they were doing me a favor, "normally we charge $8000 but for you mam we are willing to do it for $6500". To the Crew at Bay Colors, I apologize for the lateness of this review. Thank you for the beautiful job and no headaches handling my Lexus 450h. If ever I need work done again, I know exactly where I'll be going, Bay Colors!!! read more

I chose Bay Colors Refinishing not only because of their reviews on Yelp, but the quote that Tri provided me for repainting my hood was a really good price compared to other body shops that I looked into. I reached out to Tri on Friday, and he was able to fit my car into their schedule as long as I was able to bring in my car before 5p, and that I could get my car in a couple days. Thankfully, my husband and I were able to come by his shop before closing time, and we dropped off my car that same day. Tri and Guy were professional and friendly when we were at the shop, also making some small talk with us while I filled out paperwork. Fast forward to Saturday afternoon and Tri reached out to me saying that my car was finished; even sending me a picture of my car. I have to say, I was really impressed because my car looked like new with the repainted hood :) I wasn't able to pick up the car on that day, but I asked if I could pick it up on the following day. Luckily, I was able to, and I was more impressed in-person with the paint job. It was very professionally done; the car looked like when I first purchased my car many years ago. Tri and his crew even went above and beyond and even cleaned my interior and trunk! If you're looking for an auto shop for an automotive paint job, look no further as Bay Colors Refinishing is the place to go! I highly recommend this shop and will be my go-to if I ever need another paint job done. Thanks again Tri and crew! read more

My car was scratched on the left front bumper. It left a decently sized paint scratch, as well as left some marks on the headlights. After searching through dozens of auto shops, Bay Colors gave the best rate (and it was not even close). I also offered to pay an additional fee to clean up some other scratches accumulated from daily driving but they helped buff it out on the house. Tri and Guy have an awesome crew and did an amazing job of matching my car's paint color and completing the job overnight. They gave me the best rate, did an excellent job on the car itself, went the extra mile and buffed out additional scratches and did so in a timely manner. Highly recommend! Already have recommended my family to come and will definitely be telling my friends too. read more

Tri and Gus really helped us out and did an outstanding job! We unfortunately had multiple car issues over a short period of time. 1st was our new Hyundai Santa Fe. Our almost new car was hit in a Home Depot parking lot. Tri and Gus fixed her back up to look like new again! 2nd was a Volvo sedan we were selling for an elderly relative who had banged it up backing out of a gas station. Not only did the car have a big dent, but it also had bent part of the door frame. Gus fixed her up like new and we were able to sell the car quickly for him! 3rd was my baby... a convertible Mercedes. My car lost its driver side mirror while parked on the street in Montclair Village. Tri and Gus tracked down a used mirror, refinished it in the original color, and fit it back onto the car. This entailed complicated electronic pairing to get the mirror to work properly. They saved me tons of money not needing to buy a new part from Mercedes, and it looks and works great! I highly recommend this business! Excellent!! read more

I first came into contact with Bay Colors Refinishing when I was shopping around for shops that could repair my 2005 Acura MDX. My car had been T-boned and there was pretty extensive damage to the right side of the vehicle. Not only did Bay Colors Refinishing present the best price for the work that I needed, but they also made the whole thing a pleasant experience. When I messaged back and forth with Tri, he was extremely patient and knowledgeable while I took my time figuring out how to proceed. He really knows what he is doing and is adaptable. When the initial plan for the repair no longer proved feasible, he was quick in informing me and moving to an alternative route to get the job done. Even Guy, the person I met when I dropped the car off, was very nice and welcoming. I was thoroughly impressed with the job that they did. They will absolutely get my recommendation to my friends and anyone who needs it. If I need work like this in the future, I don't think I'll bother shopping around. I'll go right here first. read more

I can't recommend Bay Colors Refinishing enough! Tri and Guy are true masters of their craft. I bought a used Civic from a dealership in 2018 that failed to disclose prior damage to one of the doors. The paint, which turned out to be more like bondo, started peeling and exposed the metal, leading to significant rust. I procrastinated on getting it fixed for years, fearing it would be outrageously expensive which only made the damage worsen over time. To my surprise, I ended up only paying a third of what their competitors quoted me. My husband brought the car in on Wednesday morning and by Friday afternoon, it was ready! My car looks brand new. Bay Colors Refinishing not only delivers top-notch quality work but also provides exceptional service with a friendly touch. Highly recommend! read more

I was shocked to see how well this place fixed up my Mazda. Me and one of my buddies looked at it and didn't even believe what we saw, especially for a just pulling out and repainting the rockerpanel of my car. I noticed a scratch of somesorts and some clearcoat peeling that was not there beforehand, mentioned it to Tri and he took care of it right away, no questions asked. The quality of work, work ethics and price that they offer at this shop is unbelievable in todays world. Highly recommend this place to anyone. Tri, Guy and the team fixed my scrapes and dents in a day (faster than estimated). Looks great. I asked about replacing some plastic panels under the car but they deemed it not worth it as its not important and didn't try to upsell me.
