Customer Service: the customer service was good and the waiter frequently visited our table to see if we needed anything. We did not have to wait long for our food. Went here for dinner tonight. The place was full of people, but we were immediately greeted by a hostess and taken to our seats. The inside was extremely clean and very tastefully decorated in a nautical-style theme. However, the restaurant was rather chilly, so if you are cold-blooded I would definitely recommend bringing a sweater. Our waiter was decent. He took our orders and was really nice. However, it took about eight minutes before our drinks were brought to our table. Other than that, the service was excellent and did not detract from the meal. As for the food, everything was well-presented and tasted great. The side salad, brought before the entree, was amazing. You could tell that it was freshly prepared and was well worth the wait. The entree was also excellent. I had the popcorn shrimp with whiting and rice pilaf, and my dinner companion had the popcorn shrimp and flounder with grits. My only complaint was that the food was piled up extremely high on the plate. Whenever you went to cut a piece of fish, something else would fall off. It got annoying after a while. One of my absolute favorite places to eat in the Atl area. I have been here many times and never once had a bad meal. Never!! You get your money's worth and then some. Staff is always friendly. I have passed by this restaurant for years. I had heard rave reviews about this restaurant for years. So when the opportunity presented itself to go, I went. One of the good things about this restaurant is that they have a take out section that is separated from the dining area. We opted to have lunch inside the restaurant. Upon entering, there was a faint odor of rotten fish in the air. That was somewhat of a turn off. However, the beautiful fountain display in the restaurant made me forget about the smell. I also opted to order a house salad for $1.95 extra. Presentation is everything. Therefore, when my salad was presented, it didn't look very appetizing. There was no love in that salad. It was just a bunch of lettuce, tomatoes, and onions on a plate. Even though the salad looked old and uncaring, it was surprisingly good. Next came my entreé. There was nothing special about my fish except for the size. The portions were pretty big, and filling. However, it was just regular fried fish that I could probably do at home. The hush puppies were shaped like onion rings. That threw me off because I thought they were onion rings until I took a bite. Surprisingly, the best thing about this meal was the coleslaw. The building seems like an old Ryan's Steakhouse. The atmosphere reminds me of a down-to-earth Red Lobster. I didn't know what to expect at the Bay Breeze. It's certainly not a place you would find trendy socialites or other cool "ITP" people. The decor looks straightforward. They have model ships all across the dividers and other seafood-type decorations. They have a separate takeout entrance if you want to just get takeout. I'm not sure if Bay Breeze sells anything other than fried seafood. I did see a section called "From the Broiler." Perhaps that section contains all the non-deep-fried seafood. I went in during lunch, and it looked packed. I got the lunch special and got to choose 2 fried platters. I chose popcorn shrimp and catfish with collard greens for the side. The portions seemed huge. The plate was stuffed with the fried catfish and shrimp but also had a couple of hush puppies, some coleslaw, and my side. I did enjoy my meal. All the fried stuff was crispy but not rock hard. Everything tasted good. On the table, they provide you with 4 sauces to dip your fried seafood in: ketchup, cocktail sauce, hot sauce, and tartar sauce. The hush puppies are not balls here. They looked like onion rings. I liked their hush puppies. They were definitely better than the ones at fancier places like The Vinings Fish Company. The service was friendly and the food does taste good. I've dined here several times over the past 8 or 9 years - it's well past time for a review. But I'll be brief - because most folks have covered it all: The ambience - is non-existent. Yes there's a huge floor to ceiling fish tank and a fountain - but the money they spent on that should probably have gone towards a less garish interior paint color and some updated carpeting, table, light fixtures, etc. Laminate top tables, flatware given to you in glassine envelopes - you get the drift. Pretty open, spacious floorplan though. I hate when they jam the tables too close together making it impossible to have private, quiet conversations. The food can be hit or miss. As others have said the portions are pretty plentiful. Last visit - we dined in. I ordered the build your own combo / platter. I had chicken tenders, tilapia and flounder. And I added on a piece of perch - because I have yet to try the perch. The flounder and tilapia tasted old - it was chewy and gray - trashed most of it. But the perch tasted fresh. It was crispy on the outside, and firm and flaky on the inside. And the chicken tenders (hand breaded onsite) were delicious (awesome chicken at a seafood spot - go figure - kinda like how Longhorn's - a steakhouse - has insanely good chicken tenders). Some of the fish was hot, while other pieces were room temperature bordering on cold. I've dined there and found the food well seasoned - and other times - it's a salt lick. While I'm not fan of the mac n cheese, the coleslaw, or the French fries (always cold) - oddly enough - they have really good grits and the cabbage is pretty good too. I tend to just add the salad (for an upcharge) and that's my 'side' - because cabbage and grits aren't my favorite accompaniment when it comes to seafood. My little bookskies love the 'hush puppies' - because they're shaped like onion rings. I have to make them stop playing with them. Or trying to put them on their wrists like bracelets. No alcohol served here - which I'm still surprised by - given as how though while this is definitely a family friendly place - in the evening - it seems to be a very common 'date night' spot for younger couples as well. In fact - my very first visit - 9 years ago - I was taken here by my date because I mentioned that I could never find good, fresh seafood in Cobb county. **insert side-eye emoji and shaking head emoji** Take-out. There is a designated take-out area with its on private entrance and waiting room. The ladies manning that area are very sweet, patient and friendly. Let's start with this clam chowder: disgusting, tasted like thick flower and grease. Then my tilapia was not seasoned. I order the same thing every time I go. This restaurant is just not the same anymore. My sister ordered the stuffed crab. That tasted like it had unseasoned stuffing in it. Then come to find out the waitress stated that it was imitation crab meat. Far from it. My mom ordered fried shrimp that was unseasoned. My daughter ordered unseasoned boiled shrimp which she refused to eat and brought home so I can bring to life. I hate to write this review but I have been here twice in the last 2 months and have been disappointed. I thought maybe it was that day of the week or there was a new cook. We both ordered the combination plate that offered three selections. We both chose jumbo shrimp,scallops and fried clams. I do not care for hush puppies, but the ones served here are great. The shrimp and scallops were terrific. The clams were rubbery and fishy. The reason for the 3 rating is the price and receiving poor quality or old clams. I asked the waitress how the green beans were, but she didn't know. To my surprise, the green beans were fantastic, as in well seasoned and no need for hot sauce. The food came out hot and fresh. We had a large party this particular Sunday and everyone's food came out in sequential order with very little mistakes. The server was patient as they had lot of large parties and birthdays. A GD joke!! Guys I drove 38 miles one way to get to Bay Breeze for my dads 80th bday. I ordered the capts platter, red snapper, loaded baked potato. Salad, 2 shrimp skewers to go. I received the shrimp platters only & salad. $98 was my total. I called the store to inform them that i did not receive all of my order. They told me it was my problem & they refused a refund or to replace the food I didn't receive. They said there's a small sign in the store that says check your food (obviously they won't) so now I'm canceling the transaction on my cc. If you're around Bay Breeze on Veterans Memorial hwy go by & order whatever & just cancel your transaction. That's the ONLY way you will receive customer service. Me and my family visited this establishment today to have a nice Sunday dinner, and it ended badly thanks to the server messing up everyone tickets. Also swiping before getting clarity of who is paying for what meals. Came back saying the total opposite from before. The manager did not make it no better because she came over blaming us and kelp pointing being rude about something the server messed up on!!
