This experience deserves less than one STAR. The staff doesn't answer the phone. I paid, and scheduled and took off the whole weekend, only to be told. Sorry, we rescheduled the class. Also, the class isn't even ran ny BAMT, it's ran by Nor Cal moto. BaMT, was not apologetic, nor did they have an solution to the problem. It gives cheap Driver's Training energy. DO NOT BOOK through them. Save yourself the headache. As a business owner, I'd better embarrassed to offer a service of such low caliber. read more

I didn't receive a score for the final "skills test" at the end of day 2. I was yelled at because on my second day I was still not comfortable with counter turning. There should be instructor evaluations by each student after end of course. There is definitely biased and unprofessional behavior happening here. The entire experience was too militant for my taste, I wasn't allowed to take a break when I needed to rest my hands which were really hurting from hours of squeezing into hard constriction gloves. So they threatened not to pass me when I asked for an extra break and then they didn't pass me anyway... For the over priced costs of this training, they should be providing actual riding gloves not old hard constructions gloves. read more

I am a former motorcycle rider with 20 years of riding on all kinds of roads in all kinds of conditions. I stopped riding for a few years and needed to reobtain the CA motorcycle endorsement. I am so glad that I chose to do that through the BAMT as they cover a lot of skills that I originally learned through developing bad habits. Lost my money and didn't get any instruction! Read on. I paid for a basic motorcycle training class with 6 hours of online classroom instruction and 10 hours of riding time. After I registered, I never got a confirmation email or nothing but my credit card was charged. I waited around and tried calling them a few times but never got to a person. I finally get hold of someone a mere 2 days before the in-person class begins and after some attempts finally get my email with a link to the online class and the rest of the instructions for attending the in-person class. When I registered the class, it was supposed to start at 11:45AM. I was planning to show up at that time and planned other events before that. In the confirmation email that I received 2 days before the in-person class, I suddenly notice that I had to be there 15 minutes early at 11:30AM. I couldn't cancel or move around my prior engagement at this point. So I try to do the best and was rushing around to get there on time but showed up a few minutes late to the class. They straight up ask me to go back and come back another weekend because I was late by a few minutes for the 5 hour class! I was pissed but whatever I was late so I figured I'll call their office and book the in-person classes for another weekend. So I call them and now they tell me that re-scheduling costs $150 more and I will go on "standby" where I have to show up for each scheduled class and will only be let in if there's another no-show or last minute spot that opens up!!! The craziest thing is this policy is NOT on their website and it was NEVER communicated to me in any of their emails - I feel like I was duped into paying for a service with a company that wouldn't know what customer service was if it slapped them straight across their smug faces. Avoid this disaster of a business at all costs! read more

Wasn't sure what to expect from a Motorcycle Training course but was pleasantly surprised at the level of training you get through a two day course. I left feeling like it was a very good use of my time verses simply taking the written and riding tests at DMV. I'm by far a safer rider having gone through the course! The instructors are excellent and care about your safety during and after the course. I plan on returning to take the intermediate course in the near future to sharpen my rising skills even more. read more

I ended up taking their beginners course, in order to get the DMV skill test wavier. And it was an interesting class, You learn a few things from the E-rider program. At the range you also learn a few things that will help too. But for the amount of money you spend I did expect a little more and better motorcycles. The evaluation portion that you need to pass at the range was a bit confusing. As the task were the same we had been doing for the last two days. But some of us were failed for doing the exact same thing we were doing in the practice runs. If we were given feedback during the practice runs we could have fixed our errors. As well we were not given a second try at attempting certain task, which doesn't make sense. I feel that for a beginners course I would expect a bit more leeway for the students. As this is the first time some have even been on a motorcycle. And as for the instructors they should fully explain the exercises and how they should be executed better. Overall the class was alright but if we were given more advice and opportunities to pass the class. Then I would recommend it to everyone. read more

Horrible experience with my training class in Vallejo . Carl pretty much made me feel like a total idiot and I have never rode a motorcycle before , this class is not for beginners the whole time they are on a stop watch making sure they don't go over the limited time for each lesson . I did both days and I tried my hardest to get to the end and I was told I couldn't take the test because Carl didn't think I would pass even though in my gut I could have . He told me I can come back but I received an email stating it's not guaranteed I have to be on stand by at each class . No thanks I would rather spend a million dollars to have to go to that class again in Vallejo , I just rode 100 miles on my Super Cub Honda and I am a safe rider so you were wrong Carl . read more

I Dont Advise BEGINNERS to take this course. You're paying to LEARN how to operate a motorcycle safely, however, on the day I took the course, we was instructed on WHAT to do, not HOW. Out of the 12 riders, 4 of use were true BEGINNERS, yet we were expected to " keep up" and " catch on" with the others. I appreciated instructor Rickey ( I believe that is his name) who worked with me on the first 10 minute break, but after that I felt pressured to perform at the experience level or get sent home ( which I did, sent home that is) I feel for 350.00 we should've been TRAINED, some people learn quicker than others, others need more one on one, not intimidation, we're already nervous. I honestly don't feel this course is for BEGINNERS, not at 350.00 to be sent home. read more

Carl/Karl was an incredible instructor. It was my first time on a bike and he gave clear, measurable pointers. I learned SO MUCH, and it was all thanks to the great instructing of his. He really knows how to coach, and I really appreciated the intro to riding. I dropped my bike the first time I dismounted, and he didn't hold it against me or have any underlying gender bias about my skill acumen. He was understanding and professional. Carl/Karl was objective and it was really easy to understand what each exercise was about. I really enjoyed this class and the people who took the class with me - they were supportive, kind, and understanding. I would highly recommend Carl/Karl as an instructor. The environment he created made me feel safe and confident to ride. Can I say it again? THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME TOUCHING A MOTORCYCLE! I am so happy with all I took away from Carl/Karl. It's rare to come across a good teacher/instructor in life, and I have to really appreciate and give props when I meet one. There was a lot of value in the class I had with him. Again, I learned a lot, and I could tell he saw and knew I learned a lot, too, which he deserves a lot of credit for. As for other parts of the class, the clutch on the bike I had was dying or something, and it was difficult to ride the clutch or roll the throttle on while releasing without it killing the engine. I don't know what the issue with that was, but it pretty much burnt out halfway through my exam (?) and was giving me problems during the exercises, especially in day 2. I had a wonderful time getting through the classes a couple weekends ago! Being a first time rider I struggled horribly the first day and it wasn't looking good. Ren and Ricky who are two of the driving instructors did a excellent job of inspiring me and getting me comfortable with the bike! They are crazy devoted to riding and go out of the way to leave you pointers that'll help you. Ricky also did a wonderful job as I was present when he presented via Zoom on a Friday, for 4 hours in the class room on Saturday and out on the range on Sunday! Him, Ren, Larry, and there was another instructor who stood about 6'3 with long hair, tattoos on his hands, all did a amazing job with getting me over the fear and now I'm passionate about riding. Will continue with the classes and will always remember these folks! The company is blessed to have these instructors! They get ya juiced and amped! read more

They canceled my class that I paid for and are refusing to refund me my money! I dont know what makes them think they're entitled to my money when they didn't provide anything! Every time I call, the guy on the phone says he will email their finance department in regards to my refund and I've called weekly from September-February. This course is not safe. I seriously wish I thought to look up reviews before registering, but I am encouraged to see that my experience was not an isolated incident. I expected this class to be full of positive reinforcement, encouragement, really strong training and equip me with more confidence and skills as a beginning rider. The class was the complete opposite. The instructors, Ricky and James, behaved very unprofessionally. They screamed at students, got into their faces, belittled them when they would make a mistake or simply did not know something, and threaten to have them thrown out of the class. After being verbally and emotionally abused for most of the morning, I asked to step away from the bike to collect myself. I did not feel safe to ride at that moment. Every DMV and rider safety course encourages drivers and riders not to ride under emotional stress. I was shouted at and told I could not dismount my bike. I did not intend on joining the marines. Screaming and berating a young woman is beyond inappropriate. I tried contacting someone at the office everyday for weeks and no one ever got back to me. I wasn't allowed to finish my course, so I would've appreciated a refund. They have evaded all of my calls and ignored my emails, clearly they don't care about how their students experience this course. I will never refer anyone to them. read more

Carl would do demonstrations more than once to make sure we understood what to do and would tell the class what to look out for. DO NOT TAKE THE COURSE AT VALLEJO!! First things first, the address given on the website is incorrect. Second, they give you broken motorcycles (rusty, smoking out of engine, clutch/brakes are snapping off). Third, the instructors are extremely rude (old female instructor told me that my braking was HORRIBLE when we had practiced the quick stop one time for each person). Okay so if I was basing this completely on trainers Ricky and Ren I would give 5 stars. They actually bumped this up a bit from what I would give otherwise. Both are supportive and really make you feel like you can learn this. Positive reinforcement while helping you see what you need to work on. However I do have a few issues. One I wanted my complaint to be private and awaited the survey I was told would come and never did. Two I was informed, and saw in writing that I could pay an additional amount to be on a wait list and come back to practice for 6 months. To the first issue on day one I did a debrief with Ash who had nothing positive to say. Actually informed me I would fail the next day and likely be sent home early because I would not be able to do some of the tasks being taught. I tried to tell him I would go over it with my experienced husband and come back to do better the next day. He then proceeded to tell me I would still fail and likely be sent home the next day. I was so thrilled he was not there the second day. I did review with my husband and Ricky, who was there both days, even told me I was a different rider. I not only stayed all day but passed. Ren was only there day two. I was so thankful for her presence as well as Ricky. Honestly recommend run the other way if you encounter Ash. I told Ricky I was definitely going to come back to practice, and meant that but they refuse to respond to me when I have asked, more than once how to sign up and be on the wait list. Like mentioned I have an awesome support who has been riding since the 80's so, I have some confidence going out with him but, would have loved to practice more on the course, away from traffic to really get some of the basics set before hitting city streets. I did take the initiative to have my hubby drive my bike to a parking lot and practice safely before hitting city streets but, I am disappointed that I paid so much, and was even willing to pay more, and cannot get a response. My perception is that since I passed they are just done with me. They offer intermediate classes that I also planned to take. Not sure if they treat people this way why I would give them more money. Pretty sure I can find the intermediate class elsewhere and guess that is exactly what I will be doing. Basically maybe just look elsewhere if you are a newbie. Better safe than sorry. Cannot guarantee you will get a good instructor and definitely cannot get a response for questions. Also clear they do not want to make sure you really are safe out there. This course alone may get you a license but with no experience you need support to really be safe on the road. They will not do that. read more

They forced cars to wait in an active roadway opened the gates after the start time and then promptly locked them so anyone waiting off the road could not enter. If this is the level of safety you can expect here you should find somewhere else. read more

I had a few instructors over the weekend long beginner course, however Ash, Carl, and Anthony stood out the most. They were all fantastic and extremely knowledgeable.
