I had a frustrating experience trying to schedule driving lessons with this instructor. There were a few misunderstandings about dates and availability during our text conversation, but instead of clarifying the schedule professionally, I received a message accusing me of "wasting" the instructor's time and calling their own patience "bordering on the pathetic." I understand scheduling can be frustrating, and I admit there was some confusion on my end. However, I don't think it's acceptable for a business to speak to a potential customer in such a disrespectful and hostile manner over a simple scheduling mix-up. The policy is 72 hours notice to make changes, however I notified them more than 100 hours in advance. If you're looking for a driving instructor who communicates patiently and professionally, this was not my experience. Please take your business elsewhere. read more

The driving lesson in its self wasn't bad but if you're a girl I wouldn't recommend. The instructor Alex is a creep. He had me drive to his house during our break time which made me uncomfortable. I grabbed my mace while waiting for him to return because I wasn't sure what to expect. When he got back in the car and noticed my mace he started berating me about bringing it. I tried to explain that it wasn't a personal attack on his character but general safety precaution, he still demanded multiple times throughout the rest of our session that I don't bring my mace anymore. That also made me uncomfortable. During our next session my mom tailed along behind us one for my safety after the previous uncomfortable encounter, and two to see what routes we were taking so I could get some extra practice after my lessons were over. After I told Alex about my mom he got angry and maybe about 30 mins after he kicked me out of his car and told me to ride home with my mom we didn't finish our lesson. Like 20 minutes later he calls me yelling accusing me of humiliating him then hangs up in my face before I could say anything. He'll probably write a bs response to this like I've seen him do with other negative comments but to me any man that gets that upset and offended and a young lady wanting to feel safe is a RED FLAG. Be safe out here ladies! read more

Alex is a very good instructor. I have no experience in driving and wanted to pass the driver's test. I did two days of driving lessons with him and I passed the driver's test. I highly recommend him especially for new drivers. read more

My dad Ricardo owned this Driving School for many yrs. He loved teaching young adults, old adults how to drive. It was his passion. He told me there are a lot of good drivers out there now. He was a great dad. A friend at my work said that he taught her how to drive in the early 90's and he was so kind. All of her friends wanted to take lessons from him. He sold the business over to another man later on. He passed away in 2018. We miss him dearly. I'm glad he made a really big dent in Vallejo. and it's still running. God bless all of you that were a part of his life and all that will take lessons along the way. read more

So NOT happy right now. We signed our son up for driving lessons with Ricardo's Driving School. His appointment was at 2pm and the driver sat in front for 15 minutes and then left. No phone call or knock on the door. Only 1 text. What an asshole. I suggest everyone avoid Ricardo's Driving School. read more

Excellent costumer service, was very communicative when booking the appointment. Punctual on time coming to pick me up. Not only did he teach me how to drive he also got me ready for my behind the wheel test as well! He is very patient and will guide you the whole way. I even learned how to parallel park and drive on the freeway, not many can do so! Highly recommend this if you are a new driver and need help passing your drivers test .10/10 read more

This is an update to the previous review. I didn't explain that we paid for 6 hours and only used 4. When I asked for the refund I was told that I could use them for someone else because he does not give refunds. I am happy to say that Alex made good on his promise to honor the extra 2 hours on another client. He arrived on time and was courteous as they drove off together. read more

I am so pissed.I confirmed my appointment for my driving lesson from this driving school but on the day of my schedule, they will just say that they don't have appointment for me. I cut my hours from work and is now losing money because of their irresponsible communication. The Lady that I was talking on the phone when I confirmed my schedule is now saying that it might be one of their drivers who saw my confirmation message about this driving lesson. Well..even if it was somebody else who saw it, they should be responsible enough to communicate and not ruin clients trust! I asked her too if there's something they can do for the damage they did on my part, cuz I am expecting that they will at least be professional enough to fix this but she just said she's very sorry!.. Good, no nonsense behind-the-wheel instruction by an instructive and patient driving instructor. Each driving session was more advanced than the previous session. Learned a lot about good driving skills and had a good variety of driving conditions. This was very good training for the DMV behind-the-wheel test and proved that my student driver had learned a lot of good information from Ricardo's, too, and not just from the parents. The one-to-one ratio is so much better than having another student driver in the back seat that means fewer distractions and well worth the time. As parents we were very impressed by how much better our new driver was after every lesson. The pick-up and return times were always right on schedule and included a brief report card of areas to improve on as well as notations about driving that was good or very good. I recommend this driving school since there are options out there. read more

Not impressed by how my instructor treated me. He was on the phone most of the time talking to people and didn't focus on how I drive. Also, rude instructor. He always takes break time about 20 mins. I enrolled for 4 hours for 2 days and his break time is about 40 mins! I won't recommend them to anyone! read more

My mom regard Alex as her hero for teaching her patiently to drive safely. At the age of 58, not having any driving experience, she was able to pass her driving test right away with the help of Ricardo's driving school in the person of Alex. I am truly disappointed and disgusted with the instructor Alex from Ricardo's Driving School. Alex has no patience whatsoever for the students to learn how to drive, most of the time he yelled at me. He rushed me and didn't teach me anything. He made me feel so uncomfortable and shitty about myself all because I didn't know how to drive. I told him I didn't know how to drive and instead of encouraging me and teaching me how to he belittled me. I was truly afraid to be behind the steering wheel and he left me on my own due to the fact most of the time he was on the phone or on phone calls. Which in my perspective is truly disgusting, placing a teenager to drive who has never driven before in the streets and he isn't paying attention explains a lot about his character. Not only did he leave me on my own, but put my life in danger and the other cars around me. In addition, I had a truly hard time learning how to turn because he explained it so fast and unrealistic for me to understand and he was a complete jerk about it his response would be "every other student I've had were great drivers" he basically talked down on me because I didn't know how to drive and he wasn't willing to teach me nor had the patience. He then dropped me off and told me he wasn't going to teach someone who didn't follow his expectations. However, I truly didn't understand his mindset I clearly stated to him that I didn't know how to drive and instead of being an instructor he wanted to be a lazy person on the phone being driven around. Therefore, I completely encourage you to find better places because Alex was disgusting and should not be a member of our community treating and belittling teenagers the way he did to me. Pretty good driving school and drivers training I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn from the best. Oh yeah I would never forget the movies he showed us Red Asphalt 3 and License to Drive the 80's classic about teens taking one of their fathers car for a joyride. The perfect movies to show the possibilities of having a license. Anyways, after having failed the written test just one time. I became frustrated and reviewed the book and notes from drivers education and then I finally got my drivers permit missing just 3 questions. About a month I scheduled for drivers training. Well the 1st appointment there was a student driver and I remember I braked so hard the kid kinda hit the car seat. 5 mins later we dropped off the kid and we started our training. We did a lot of residential training like traffic light, stop sign etc. Then I think we did some errands got some coffee and went to his vallejo office and his house. Then I realized that he is training me for the real world because driving is basically a whole bunch of errands. The 2nd appointment was for highway training which could be scary at first with all these fast cars trying to intimidate you but you will get through it. Long story short I recommend this education/training because he's been around for years and has a lot of experience. read more
