We recently remodeled our kitchen and had a positive experience working with Keri at Bay Area Cabinets. We originally considered doing the work through a large box store, but were so happy to instead support a local, small, woman-owned business instead. During our initial appointment with Keri, she took the time to help us decide on which brand of cabinet to choose and since we were not working with a designer she helped us design the layout of our kitchen. She was knowledgeable, friendly, listened to our ideas, and was able to problem solve a few issues for us. Throughout the process, we appreciated her quick response to any issues with the cabinets. The cabinets took about 12 months to arrive (this was in 2021 when there were still a LOT of supply chain issues as we came out of the pandemic!) and they arrived on-time from the original estimate. We had a couple pieces arrive with very minor damage and she immediately sent us replacements - and really, that's all you can hope for when things go wrong. It's been about 4 months now & we are overall very happy with our new kitchen and the cabinets we bought. We are rebuilding after losing our house in the Tubbs fire and needed cabinets for the whole house: all the bathrooms, laundry room, butler's pantry and kitchen. I thought it would be an unpleasant task getting it all figured out, but they are very knowledgeable and guided us through the process in a helpful and friendly manner. We used this place for both our kitchen remodel in 2012 and a bathroom vanity in 2015. We were referred by a friend who had received an unbeatable bargain. However, the pricing was on par with a quote from downtown Los Gatos, so I think its basically the same pricing as anywhere else in the Bay Area. I really like the owner, Kerri, because she is warm and trustworthy. Everyone has been very friendly. The shop is nice enough although located in an industrial garage type of area. Here is the thing. They are so busy that its hard to get a response from Kerri. When I called for a quote on the vanity, she said, "I have people waiting a couple weeks to talk with me." That pretty much says it all. She has Don there who was very quick to respond to our request for a quote, but then we never received any updates. We had to call to see if our cabinet had arrived, then he "lost the file" and didn't call us back the next day either. So we had to call twice trying to get our stuff delivered. The reason we went with them in the first place and also the second place was that they take MC/Visa which meant we could get points. The other place in downtown Los Gatos only took checks. Note to the business: Hire a receptionist to direct calls (instead of Kerri answering). Hire more designers for goodness sake. Spend some time reflecting on your business and how to structure and organize it. What got you to where you are now, won't get you to the next level. Its time to get strategic. We love you and and want to see you successful, but our experience was just not good this time. read more

The typical remodel is rarely smooth and when looking for vendor partners, you want to make sure they step up when a challenging situation arises and not run the other way. I've heard said that it's easy to be a good vendor when things are going smoothly. But how good is that vendor in a difficult situation. Keri and the rest of the Bay Area Cabinet team passed that test and rise to the level of outstanding vendors. I started my kitchen remodel a year ago. Keri, Don, Amber, Tim were ever so patient educating me on wood species, stains and glazes. I must have checked out every cabinet sample in the shop over the course of six months. Every member of the team patiently sent me off with the next sample, no judgment on my indecisiveness. When I finally closed in on cabinet colors, Keri started working with me on design and suggested several areas of efficiency. One of my favorites was a toe kick drawer (you know the wasted space where the toe kick is under the cabinets, you can put a drawer there and store placemats, plastic wrap, infrequently used esoteric kitchen tools - I was thrilled with the toe kick drawer idea). After a year, I finally placed my order. Keri was exceptionally thorough to make sure I signed off on my exact color, door style, embellishments etc. I couldn't wait for my new cabinets. Third week into my construction, we opened the delivered cabinets and the manufacturer Decora had sent me cabinets that were 4 shades darker than the sample I used to place the order. This wasn't an issue of replacing several door fronts, the entire order needed to be replaced. There was a serious discrepancy between the manufacturer door sample and the delivered product. Keri became my strongest advocate with the manufacturer. This type of discrepancy had never happened before and it was uncertain whether Decora would replace the entire order. Keri lobbied and leveraged the large volume of business BAC did with Decora to assure me that between Decora and BAC, they would "make it right" for me. And they did, my entire order is being corrected, BAC absorbed some incremental cost that Decora would not cover (which I disagreed with - Decora should have covered the entire cost). Amber even hand delivered a new sample door to me (at Costco Tire Center where I was waiting) to make sure the new sample color was exactly what I wanted. My order is being expedited to shorten the 6 week lead time. My construction had to be halted and I'm living in a dust bowl right now, but my consolation is that I'll have the cabinets that I want. This situation could have turned into a nightmare with a lesser quality vendor. You hear remodeling nightmare stories all the time. I was fortunate in that I incurred some inconvenience and delay, but did not have to live with cabinets I disliked or had to pay additional out of pocket to get replacement cabinets. I couldn't ask for better customer service. When the going gets tough, the tough get going is really a truism for Bay Area Cabinet. Yesterday when I came home from grocery shopping, lugged all my bags into the kitchen, and started putting the groceries away, I was still amazed how practical, functional and elegant my kitchen is despite its small size...thanks to BACS. I've been using the new kitchen for 4 months now. The old kitchen was in a sorry shape--there was no logic with the placement of the stove, 'fridge, sink, dishwasher, counter, and cabinet space. So we had to have the entire kitchen redone. Keri helped us redesign the whole kitchen and maximized all the space in kitchen for optimal storage and counter space. She gave us great suggestions to kitchen space issues that we hadn't considered, while working with our preferences. We went through 3 revisions (yes, that's how much work needed to be done to the kitchen), each time Keri was very patient and helpful. BACS is a bit out of the way for us, but the wonderful service that we got was worth the extra drive. Many cabinet places carry a variety of wood and styles, but I haven't come across many with such personalized service. read more

The experience when I met Don was night and day from what I had before. Don did a fantastic job of taking our drawing and creating a master cabinet plan. We purchased all of our cabinets for a kitchen remodel at Bay Area Cabinet Supply. We went to at least 10 different cabinet places before we came across them but were blown away by their design, choices, price, and customer service. Our initial choice was between American and Chinese cabinets but we ended up going with American because of the quality, as well as the customization options. Who wants a microwave above your head? We now have ours in a built in pantry at waist level, so much easier to move hot dishes and liquid dishes in and out. Christine went above and beyond to make our kitchen exactly what we wanted it to be. She answered all of our questions even during and after installation. The cabinets fit perfectly. We ran into some issues with the build quality of some cabinets but this was rectified immediately by Christine. After reading the reviews, I set up an appointment with Don. I was immediately taken by the customer service of this family owned company. Don was very helpful designing the layout and preparing the paperwork and order. Thereafter Christine stepped in to complete the installation work. During my initial meeting with Don, Christine overheard the problems I had encountered in trying to find a reputable company in the bay area to replace my mother's kitchen cabinets, counters, floor and sink due to a major water leak. Christine offered her advice and counseling on costs, referrals and which options were available. Both Don and Christine educated me on the process and what parts of the job would need to be bid out. I immediately felt their honesty and sincerity. The countertops needed to be bid out but Christine didn't leave me dry. She worked with me in handling the whole process, which is exactly what I was looking for. During the process they pointed out an electrical concern that I was unaware of and one that could have been a fire hazard. I will be forever thankful to them for my mother's safety. They all work as a team and no job was too small for them; even the owners get involved and came out to my mother's home to measure the cabinets; that's excellent teamwork and customer service. I know that I couldn't have gotten through this project without this family owned company but especially because of Christine. Had a humiliating experience here. Like others I read the great reviews especially of Don and called to book appointment with him. I was running late but called to say I would be about 10-15 min late. When I arrived (about 12:10 for my 12:00 appt) I checked in with the office assistant. Don saw and heard me but said nothing. After letting Don know I was there she relayed that I would be working with someone else as he was busy with his previous appointment. I said I would wait since I specifically requested to work with Don. She then spoke to him again and he responded in a loud voice that "there wouldn't be a problem if she hadn't arrived a half hour late" and that he had an appoint at 2:00 refused to work with me at all. I was stunned since this made no sense as he was still busy with the previous client. Not sure why I was refused service from him. Or why he did not even have the courtesy to greet me and ask if I wanted to wait. I was helped by Keri even though he was available after about 15 minutes of my arrival. Hesitant to write this review as so many others lauded him but ultimately decided I would in case others had a similar experience. As an older woman of color I can never be sure why I am treated this way, but if you are of a similar demographic you might want to schedule a back-up with another vendor. read more
