I do my own car work. This is only the second time I have taken a car to a shop with the exception of transmission work. I am very picky about how things are done and a tad bit critical as well as tight with money. That said, doing the roller rockers on the wife's Chrysler was going to be a project since it was the right bank (the side against the firewall) and, frankly, I did not want to burn my vacation under the hood in the rain. The wife had three referrals from friends but Inder and Neer won the business. I called all three referrals and told the folks the situation: 2013 Chrysler 3.6 with 100k miles and the Pentastar Knock on the right bank. Please replace all roller rockers and lifters. Give me a ballpark. Inder was the only person who after a couple questions, said, "I do those frequently. Labor will be about XXX and parts will be around 500 for what you want done." This is the guy I wanted. While I was there I had him change the spark plugs too. They did a fantastic job. The labor rate was fair at $750 for 6 hours charged (others are asking up to $285/hr). Parts were a minimal markup over NAPA list (that's fair) and he used high quality replacement parts. I probably wouldn't have used NKG iridium but the van is running great. I don't have others work on my cars often, but when I do, it will be Inder and Neer. read more

I bought my 2009 BMW 328i to 1) recharge the AC fluid, 2) diagnose and replace the pump for the window shield washer fluid, and 3) fix the broken wires in the trunk lid (common BMW problems that prevented the trunk to be opened). Inder knew exactly what each problems were, and fixed all 3 issues for a very, very reasonable cost. I will definitely come back for service. read more

We have been bringing our cars (and also recommending this business) for quite a few years. Everything from transmission work to window's not operating..everything was done to our satisfaction ++ at a very fair price. I highly recommend them A+++ read more

I have been a customer for close to 20 years. I came to update my reviews with another great experience only to find I didn't have a review...my bad for sure. You will not find a more honest business. More than once have I gone there and they found nothing wrong or something so minor they took care of it on the spot for no charge. Came in since it seemed I was probably getting close to needing brakes, Inder calls me later to say I have probably close to 2 years left on my brakes. Great and again no charge for the inspection most places would have probably just done unnecessary work to make a buck. I will continue to take all my card to Inder & Neer and I highly recommend them for honest work at very competitive prices. read more

I am from out of town and my radiator broke while visiting San Jose. These guys saved me. I needed to get back home to travel for work and they found the parts, fixed the car and had me on the road the next day. I am so grateful I found them. read more

Highly recommend this shop, they have such wonderful service, and very reasonable. I trusted them with my brand new Mercedes, I was not disappointed at all I would ask for Inder!!! Bay Area Auto Service - This is the shop! - Auto Repair Near Me - San Jose, California

Quality repair service for my 2013 Mercedes. The car had a persistent coolant leak from a hard to reach area. Took it to my regular mechanic who asked me to take it to the dealer. Dealer was going to charge an arm and a leg. All said sell and buy a Japanese car. My friend recommended Inder and Neer. Called them, left the car for them to investigate and fix. 2 weeks later, car is completely fixed! Charged reasonable prices compared to the estimate from dealer. Highly recommend them. Honest and they will take care of you! They are my mechanics now. read more

I have been taking my Mitsubishi to Bay Area Auto for many years. I have always been happy with the prompt and professional service, however what I appreciate equally is their honest approach. I never leave feeling as if I was charged for more than what my car needed. My husband now takes his BMW there. They have done a much better job than the BMW dealer ever did! read more

Inder and Neer are excellent mechanics. They are very honest and good in getting the job correctly.

Took my Mazda CX-9 for brake replacement. Appreciate honest service and straight talk. I had asked for both front and rear brake pad replacement. Said the front needed rotors to be replaced and the rear brakes did not need any servicing at this time. Well recommended. Thanks Inder and Neer read more

This auto service is owned by Neer and Inder. These two have been at this location for over 12 years, it is near the Smog Guys where I normally get my vehicles smogged by Steve. I called here to inquire about getting a quote on a timing belt package replacement (timing belt, serpentine/drive belt, water pump replacement, radiator flush and tensioner adjustment). Neer provided a quote over the phone, I scheduled an appointment, he told me it would take all day, to drop the Honda Odyssey minivan by 9.30am and pickup near closing 5pm. When I came in he took down some of my details and gave me a written quote. Later on during timing belt disassembly Inder (who got his ASE certifications from Sequoia Institute in Fremont) discovered that the tensioner had too much play in it and the drive belt would eventually wear again in 6 months or so. He was not pushy, he said I can show it to you, or I can replace it and you just pay for parts, no labor as I am working on that area anyhow. So I decided to trust him and do it, this did raise the original quote but I rather have it fixed now then later. Car was ready a little later than 5pm but I was happy to wait as I could see they were still working on the van, adding coolant, tightening bolts, etc, it then came off the rack and the V6 engine still purrs like a kitten! Inder even showed me the tensioner and the play that it had along with the timing and drive belts. You could see the wear on the drive belt where it was coming off the tensioner assembly but you couldn't see the wear on the timing belt (could have micro-tears). But it Has been 9 years, so it was best to air on the side of maintenance interval change as I had 43K miles on the original belts and the dealer was pushing for me to change them. Neer even tightened my chassis bolts which stopped a single clunk sound I got sometimes when I would turn left. In summary Bay Area Auto Service knows what they are doing, Inder is ASE certified, pleasant to talk to, no BS and is courteous. He will tell you what he finds without any upselling. Neer is friendly too, he handles the front office and helps out in the back. After reading all the Yelp reviews, I felt confident in finding a reputable auto shop for repairs/ maintenance. There prices are fair, work is done right the first time. I will return for future auto service. Thank you Neer and Inder. 5 stars, much deserved read more

I have been going to Bay Area Auto Service for the last four years and have had nothing but terrific service at a great price. I've had my brakes and two tune-ups (90K and 120K) done by them and the guys are great, honest, and reliable. I highly recommend them! read more

These guys are the best. They are very professional, courteous and straightforward. Would be glad to recommend my friends here.

I could not move forward with my car repair problem for eight months until a friend referred me to Inder at Bay Area Service. I got many quotes and not a good diagnosis. Sunnyvale Foreign Car Service was the worst shop quoting me 5-6K while I felt the owner's condescending tone when speaking to me. It was an overwhelming experience and I left the car alone for a few months. Inder worked on my Honda after I gave him my diagnostic report from HONDA service. Most importantly, Inder's people interaction skills are off the charts. He is humble and cares that you feel you are working with the most trusted mechanic and takes the time to explain in an area I have no knowledge. I am not letting anyone else work on my car since I found Bay Area Auto Service. I met some ladies while waiting at his shop and they were coming from far away for a great car service. Thank you, Inder. read more

These guys have earned my loyalty. I had been with a previous mechanic for years, but ever since they came under new management, their service hit a sharp decline. I've come to these guys with my car a couple times now. Their repairs are spot on and they overcharge you for their service. They are very fair priced and they get the job done well. A+ read more

I have been coming here for as long as ive had a car. Efficient, no nonsense, fair cost, HONEST service. I come for all my routine maintenence and for trouble shooting when other problems come up. I have never had a single negative experience at bay area auto in 8 years! Thanks guys! read more

I brought my car here to fix a clicking noise coming from my dashboard. Inder diagnosed the problem right away as an issue with the HVAC actuator door. While the part only costs $45 it's extremely tough to access, so the labor would be $500. He explained how to stop the noise from happening and suggested I wait until it actually affects the performance of the HVAC system before fixing it. Wow, a mechanic who talks me through a problem so I don't waste time and money. I'll be going back to Bay Area Auto from now on. Thanks, Inder! read more

My daughters car needed brakes so after finding this place on yelp, I called and they were able to squeeze her in that same morning. We got there & they were super friendly! Side note: Parking is difficult but not impossible. read more

Had to get my brakes done and they were up front about the cost and didn't price gouge . Way cheaper than the dealer! Highly recommend!

I've been going here for a about 3 years now. Inder and Neer are awesome! Women who are single do not have to worry about getting tricked or ripped off here. They are honest with fair prices and do great work. I've never had to bring my SUV back for the same issue twice. read more

This business fixed my 18 year old car's air conditioner in 2 hours. Some places could have told me the old car needed the a/c unit replaced or come up with a larger amount to fix it. But these fellows called me with the complete price (it only needed a Freon charge) within 2 hours and said it was fixed (my husband had dropped it off & authorized the fix). I am so happy now! These fellows are cool! read more

Bay Area Auto replaced my worn front suspension on my 2013 Tesla Model S. The car has over 100k miles and had naturally worn parts. They were able to inspect and identify the parts that were worn and also replace those parts. I approached them as they have an excellent track record for great service at a fair price. We have been using the services of Bay Area Auto for well over a decade and they have never disappointed! Thanks for taking care of our vehicles! read more

Exceptional service. I called them to check on a car prior to purchasing it from a private party. It's amazing how accommodative they were. They did not upsell ..just an awesome customer service. Thank you team. read more

I have a BMW 528i and my manufacturers warranty expired. Inder was recommended by my realtor. So I decided to take my car to fix seat sensor which had gone off. Inder took care of me today... there was a random rattle under my engine... he went on a test drive with me, went back to the shop, put my car on the lift, found it was the heat shield around the exhaust. Made some adjustments, fixed! He didn't want to charge me for the work. Good people. read more

My car stopped in the middle of the freeway. Called and spoke with Neer. He was so helpful in giving me various options. Had the car towed to their place and they were extremely helpful. Two days latter the car was ready to pickup. The cost was reasonable and the work was excellent. So glad I found you guys. read more

Mechanics scare you - they tend to be dishonest and indifferent. Not Inder and Neer. They are honest, amicable, and genuinely care about you. I had an excellent experience here. Rates are low and I felt confident leaving my car in their hands. Besides getting my major maintenance and brakes completed in about 2 hours, they also pointed out a nail in my tire and offered to fix it free of charge if Skip's (from where I bought the tire and had road hazard protection) couldn't get it fixed. They also successfully diagnosed a problem I had with my idle, and the problem is now gone. In addition, they aren't out to squeeze the last drop of money from your pockets. When telling a customer of his truck's problems, upon telling him that the repair would be expensive (costing ~$1500), they also told him to go back home and debate over whether he wanted to keep the truck and go ahead with said repairs or look into obtaining another vehicle instead. P.S. They check the annoying check engine light for free, which other places usually charge an arm and a leg for. read more

Honest...Reliable Service! Inder and Neer are two mechanics that you can rely on! I have been going to Bay Area Auto Service for 5 years now, and prior to that I had not been successful at finding an honest Auto Repair shop. This was the first place that didn't treat me like a 'know nothing girl.' They have ALWAYS been fair and honest w/ me....giving me the real situation, letting me know whether or not it would be a good economic decision to go forward w/ some specific repairs. (They have gotten me out of a number of tight situations!) Inder & Neer are both very patient, and helpful when explaining everything to their customers, and they are really trying to help you save while still getting what you need. I have referred a number of friends and family to Bay Area Auto, and all have been universally pleased!! read more

I have been going here for more than TEN years, not sure why it took me this long to write a review, may be I just took it for granted a trusted and reliable mechanics Inder & Neer are. I have a Lexus that is 20 years old and 288,000 miles, it is because I have a good mechanic who does minimal, safe maintenance that I can drive without worry, someday I will buy an other car, but for now, I will trust Inder & Neer with my last dollar, they are also funny guys, thanks for keeping my family safe, yes we have 4 vehicles, all serviced by Inder & Neer read more

I have been taking both my Hondas and my Mercedes SUV here. Inder and the team are amazing. They won't charge you an arm and a leg; and, most importantly, they won't charge you for stuff you don't need or that they can do in a second. For instance, they replaced a light bulb for me on my Mercedes. They only charged me for the bulb. This was not the case with my BMW at the dealer on Steven Creek. Another time my wife couldn't open her glove compartment in her Honda Odyssey. Inder got it open and only charged us for a lock--no labor cost. Guess where I had my Mercedes' and Honda Odyssey's brakes done? AT BAY AREA AUTO SERVICES! Inder and his team gets it: Don't over charge on the small stuff = get the major jobs. Those shops who overcharged me for repacing a signal light bulb definitely aren't getting any more of my business. BAAS is awesome. Give them a ring! PS: Super friendly service! I bet you you won't EVER see Inder without a smile! lol read more
