Baxter Heritage Dental has been caring for smiles in Winder, GA since the 1960s — and we're now proudly in our third generation of family dentistry.
The practice was founded by Dr. D.O. Baxter, who built his reputation on kindness, patience, and a genuine interest in every patient's life. His children grew up walking over to the office after school just to watch him work, and that early exposure shaped everything that came next.
Today, Dr. Doug Baxter, DMD (second generation) and Dr. John Baxter, DMD (third generation) carry that legacy forward. Dr. John returned home to Winder with his wife and son after dental school and advanced residency training to continue the family tradition of caring for this community like neighbors — because that's exactly what they are.
For more than 60 years, Winder-area families have trusted the Baxter name for honest answers, gentle care, and long-term relationships.

For over 30 years, he has carried on his father’s legacy of honest, relationship-based dentistry.
Dr. Doug Baxter has spent his entire life in Winder—and for most of that time, he’s been inside the very same dental office his father, Dr. D.O. Baxter, built in the mid-1960s with his mother serving as the hygienist. Growing up, he spent countless afternoons at the practice, watching his parents care for neighbors with kindness, patience, and genuine interest in their lives. It didn’t take long for him to fall in love with that way of serving people.
