We have been going to Baxter Barn for about 3 years now and my girls and I have always adored the experience. I feel like we are stepping back in time or are a thousand miles away from where we actually are and I instantly feel at peace. The farm store is so charming with an old-timey feel and our girls love to wander and admire the variety of beautiful birds, cats, rabbits, and goats kept in impeccably clean enclosures next to the store. Brandon and Cory are down to earth and incredibly knowledgeable; they have helped me countless times through a variety of situations with our chicks and hens. I've called in a panic more than once and have been given the right information to address or resolve the issue adequately. One time we needed medication and they gave it to us for free, leaving it bagged up and ready to go to pick-up after hours. If we have had chicks pass (remarkably only 2 out of approximately 20 we have purchased over the years), they have always replaced them without question. Their feed is superior and their prices are fair. While I can see why some of the less favorable reviewers were put off by Cory's manner, if you have some awareness and understanding it is easy to see past his quiet nature and somewhat flat-affect and recognize his peaceful nature and passion for the well-being of the birds. If he didn't care about the animals, he would sell one chick at a time or chicks of different ages, for example, against his moral and ethical compass knowing it's not in the animal's best interest. While I myself have been disappointed at times to find what I had hoped to transpire did not, I and my young girls were able to recognize it for what it is and that their business is not about me getting what I want when I want it... as we have become so accustomed to in our oft privileged and entitled culture. Finally, I have been to different parts of the farm - to the back area where older chicks and pullets are kept and to another part back behind the house where roosters and some other varieties are kept. Both areas were clean, the animals in good shape, and I didn't see anything in question about their care. I love the whole experience and have been more than pleased with the quality of their products and the variety and health of the chicks. I highly recommend giving them a try AND CALL FIRST if you are looking to purchase birds. You won't be disappointed and may just end up with a new favorite family adventure for a Saturday afternoon. read more

We recently went to Baxter Barn to add to our flock. We made an appointment as is recommended and were greeted and help on time, which was nice. We talked to Cory about what we wanted and he helped select three hens that were beautiful and a great addition to our flock. He also took the time to help us select some feed and product. We had already been to another feed store that very strongly recommended a whole grain diet for our other two hens so the idea of a crumble was new, but all of our birds far prefer the Baxter Barn crumble. The whole grain feed will sit and they will pick at it if they have no other option but they completely fill up on the crumble! We will continue to go out of our way to get our birds this special crumble they love so much. It is totally worth it. Our great experience at Baxter Barn did not end that day. We had our hens for about a month and a half. Over that time we came to find that one was actually a rooster that was horribly aggressive and killed one of the other hens. When we contacted Baxter Barn and talked to Cory he was completely understanding and apologetic for the mistake. He apologized for the fact that one was a rooster, which could happen to anyone as we have heard that sexing chickens is not easy,and was very compassionate about the loss of our other hen . He also graciously took the rooster back and gave us two hens in return, one for the rooster and one for the one we lost. Mistakes can happen to anyone any time and what matters to us is how they are made right and how we are treated. Cory went above and beyond to make this right and did so very quickly. We so appreciate the service we have been provided and fully intend to be loyal customers. They know their stuff and have always been wonderful to us. Thanks Cory! read more

Last weekend, we stumbled across Baxter Barn. My grandson was in town with his mom for a visit. He's just a little over a year old and this would be his first real pumpkin patch! Much to our surprise, we arrived to a quaint setting with the owner, Cory, to greet us at the drive. We were welcomed to wander around and take photos as we perused the pumpkins. The pumpkins were beautiful and plentiful. We enjoyed the corral of miniature donkeys, ponies, and darling chicks. Cory took all of us on a tractor pull around the property and helped us load our treasures of huge pumpkins into the car. Baxter Barn is easy to reach, just minutes off I-90. I encourage everyone to take a couple hours to visit this wonderful place to start new family traditions. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. read more

When you are in Fall City and need feed for your horse or scratch for your chicks, Baxter Barn is a great place to get them. . Baxter Barn is a historic farm with its own little feed store that is just boiling over with items for hamsters to horses and everything in between. . For Christmas I got my dogs stocking supplies there and I did a pumpkin from their Pumpkin festival last year, which I will be doing another pumpkin from Baxter Barn this year . They have vaccines for your animals, dishes to eat from, and just fun decorative stuff. . Cory and Brandon are two busy people, and like the rest of us when there is more to do then time to get it done we can seem discerned, but they are sometimes just overwhelmed. . We have been buying our chickens, feed and supplies from Cory for years. He is very knowledgeable and will answer all your questions to help you raise happy healthy birds & animals. Like others have said, make an appointment! They are a small operation trying to manage their time between caring for all the animals, tending the store and helping people select new animals. About kids. They are more than welcome and will have a wonderful time seeing all the animals BUT be considerate and follow the rules. Keep kids with you and respect the animals. I LOVE this place!!!! We purchased 12 chicks from Baxter, feed and supplies. All chicks are VERY healthy and now I can say that Cory was very knowledgeable and help us to understand how to deal with chicks, when we can expect the first eggs, how feed them properly to keep them healthy ect.. I should say that most of the time we're coming without appointment and they never reject to help us. Baxter Barn is VERY clean place, very friendly staff with very good quality birds and supplies. This urban farm is fantastic! The animals are all very well cared for and healthy. Customer service is top notch. The feed is the best and healthiest around and the yard art is amazing. If your not into all that take the tour the farm is beautiful. We recently bought four duck hens they are healthy and doing great plan on going back for more soone. We also bought 8 hatching eggs for our first time broody hen. all hatched into very healthy chics. We came to Baxter Barn for the first time to pick up chicks and loved it there. Brandon was really helpful with explaining what we needed and how to handle the chicks. We've had chickens for a few years, but had not had chicks before. The kids had a great time looking at everything and the place is just adorable. I had originally looked at ordering chicks online but the cost of shipping (and the stress on the chicks) made them much more expensive than what we could get at Baxter Barn and I wouldn't have had anyone to talk to. I am so impressed with Baxter Barn. I drive one and half hours after calling them. It was such a great experience. I was so peased they are very cautious about germs, and safety of animals. I met this farm early this spring and can't understand where was I all these years! The dream of my life finally comes through and it won't be possible without the Family at Baxter barn! This is a fantastic place! We have been coming out here to buy our chickens and feed the last 4 years. We have always been treated good, Brandon and Cory both have been very patient with our questions and concerns and always have given us good and helpful information or advice. This is a small farm operation, and it's always clean and the birds and animals are always well taken care of and we have never had any sick birds that was directly the farms fault. This is a wonderful family run farm, and I cannot say enough good about it. I've purchased quite a few birds here, ranging in age from small chicks to 2 month old birds. Cory and Brandon are vey friendly and filled with knowledge. It is my first go at raising chickens solely for eggs. I have been coming to Baxter Barn for a few years now to buy feed for my ducks and goats, along with bedding and hay. I have never had a bad experience. I have bought ducklings from here several times and they have all been healthy and lived. When I was buying from another local feed store I always had one or two die, I think they were overly stressed and didn't transition well. This is a working farm, not a big box store, they take excellent care of their animals and give great customer service. read more

This local small farm is a must visit place! The Salmon float is the main object to be seen while parking the cars. Owners come out upon arrival to personally greet everyone. It is a two acre farm filled with donkeys, horses, rabbits, chicks, chickens, quails adn pheasants. A garden growing tomatoes, pumpkins and many others to be sold, or donated to various people can be seen too. Field trips for children to learn about salmon, chickens and the environment around them is a hands on fun. read more

I always feel like what I am asking for is thoroughly considered, and I rely on the depth of knowledge of the staff here, especially Cory, who consistently goes above and beyond. If you're considering getting birds online or from the feed store, don't bother. BB is a small, local, specialty operation that cares about its people and its birds. My husband and I bought brand new baby chicks from Baxter Barn back in May. The staff took the time to talk to us about the various breeds and what to expect. I am so happy to shop local. I needed some stock tanks for a tiered raised garden. Cory was extremely helpful!! He rolled out the tanks and stacked them for me to make sure I was happy with the sizes. I doubt I could have gotten that personalized help from a farm supply store. I took my grandsons (and their dad) to Baxter Barn to get two pullets. We were given a tour of the farm and had a great time. The boys loved seeing the all the animals and holding the day old chicks.
