The food itself is not bad... It's a bit pricey, but one can expect that for a waterfront restaurant. The service on the other hand is terrible... staff is slow clean up tables and you have to flag somebody down for everything or anything. Bathrooms aren't the cleanest and they seem overwhelmed for some reason even though there seems like good number of people working here. If the food wasn't decent I would give this place much lower ratings. ~ Chilli Garlic Kinkawooka Mussels - 4/5 The best dish of the afternoon. The mussels were perfectly done. The sauce was ridiculously good. Lots of flavor, thoroughly enjoyed dipping the bread in it and polishing the dish clean. ~ Sausage Platter - 4/5 Meat galore. This is strictly for the Meatatarians. Leave the vegetarians home and the Vegans...make sure they are on the other side of town! I found the Chicken & Coriander & Pepper & Garlic Kielbasa to be the tastiest. Was not a fan of the Pork Maple & Bacon. The Hot Link Extra Long Frankfurter were OK. All the sides were very good; Potato Salad, Mash, Sauerkraut and the Red Cabbage. ~ Fish & Chips - 4/5 Your Typical Fish & Chips. Before heading back to Sydney we stopped at the Bavarian Bier Cafe at the Manly Warf, and had quite a lot of fun. I had been to one of their other locations in the CBD (franchise) so I knew what to expect. German Food and German Beer, and we were thirsty!! There were plenty of options to choose from including: - Franziskaner Hefe-Weissbier Hell - Munich Gold - Löwenbräu and Stiegl If you're looking for a stiff drink, ask for Ben as we found him to be the best bartender and if you want to keep your mug there, join the club. The restaurant has great views of the beach and ample seating with a massive bar. There was a DJ spinning live to the atmosphere was energetic. Don't expect luxury, but go for some brew, maybe a pretzel to munch on and enjoy the day. schmekt gut ya! read more

You go here for the same reason you go to Mcdonalds- it is consistent and so you know exactly what you are getting. You don't go here for gourmet or cheap eats- you here for the 1litre beers and the $10 schnitzel night. Or if you want a big night of raucous beer and meat with the boys. The Bavarian beer café franchise have numerous locations through Sydney (and I presume further afar) so if you've been to one- you've been to them all and they are always a good place to get some good solid German beer. My all time go-to beer is the 'franziskaner hefe-weissbier hell' which in my opinion is about as tasty as wheat beer gets- but if you want to go super fly- mix it with mango juice and watch all your mates laugh at you and your lack of masculinity. Most importantly. If you enjoy beer and anything sacred NEVER try the beer mixed with cola (it's called diesel cos that's what it tastes like). Cool and laid back bar situated on Manly Wharf affording you beautiful ocean views while you sip on your drink. They have an assortment of beers and some cocktails. I had the Blueberry mojito which was good but a bit light on the liquor side. I didn't try any food but some of the plates that came out to the tables looked delicious. One of several in the Australian franchise, the Bavarian Bier Café in Manly is exactly as you'd expect. The staff wear "traditional German" costumes (read; lederhosen and beer maid outfits) that have probably never actually been worn in Germany. The beer menu is extremely extensive, with every flavor of beer you could ever imagine being brewed on offer. The music and décor - think Berlin Bears - also go with the subtle theme, and the food is also very German and wintery. All of these things certainly have a place, but it's hard to imagine that the ideal place for it is Manly Wharf, with its summery vibes and world-class harbor side location. Still, the Bavarian Bier Café is a bit of fun; shots come out in a wooden panel that everyone takes together, and the kitsch is really embraced by patrons and staff alike. There are some concessions to location - alcohol other than beer is certainly available! The blonde wood of the bar and interior - seemingly so foreign to the dark and European theme of the café - go so well with Manly's chilled and summery vibes. The café is expensive for food, and not much better for drinks, some combination of the exotic and imported beers and beautiful location. If you're out to celebrate a special occasion though, this is a great spot to do so! read more

Went here today and it was a great location and I really enjoyed the food as well. I was happy to have table service as I so often have to go order at the bar myself so quite the treat to sit down...especially after the 10K Spit to Manly walk and our server was pretty friendly. We shared the calamari salad and wedges which were both quite tasty. We also had the strawberry sparkling wine which was far too easy to drink and my friend enjoyed her Lemon Beer as well. The waitress staff told us that the drinks accompanied by our dinner were on special for $5 and then the manager refused to honour what the waitress told my wife and I. The manager was so argumentative that she called the owner of the restaurant to discuss our complaint as we waited in front of other customers. It was an absolutely disgusting customer service experience that has guaranteed we will never return. Such an embarrassing experience, I would not recommend that anyone go to this restaurant unless you feel like fighting the restaurant over the bill! read more

This restaurant is next to Manly beach which is a nice ferry trip from the city. Great views from the place and has a lively atmosphere. The food and drink is very reasonably priced with deals at certain times fairly frequently. The schnitzel and sausages are great as is the beer would highly recommend. I believe it is a chain, has a place in 'the rocks' and a few others in the city but you should go to this one for the views! The service was great when I went but I've heard it's hit and miss. read more

Overpriced for beer brewed in new Zealand not in Germany. Terrible service having to wait 20 min for someone to take your order on a slow monday arvo. Been going since opened had some good and some bad visits food not consistent went on Mother's Day on booking not told no breakfast orders after 11.15 when I had explained we would be having a brunch because both sons working during the day.Sat us in The "nursery corner" near Hugos (noisy kids at table next to us) There was food on floor under were my son was seated and the cushions on seats old and dirty asked to be moved and found a new table for us easily and we knew we had to be out by 1pm but kept on being reminded by staff.Food just average , impractical user unfriendly cast iron bowls/plates they serve food on.Advertised glass of Champagne for Mum on day , was not offered. We all swore we will never go there again .E mailed restaurant saying what a unpleasant experience it was and still no reply so thought I would share our experience with Yelp subscribers .Dont go there bad food , cold coffee in consistent quality of food etc etc read more
