My daughter was freaked about being called brace face, metal mouth, or any number of names kids will use and I was kind of freaked about the pain she'd be in and the cost. Dr. Newman put us at ease quickly as he explained everything to us about what she would need - palette expander then a couple-three years of braces- and this for a kid whose teeth weren't really that bad. Dr. Newman's staff, and his waiting room, are awesome...I mean how many doctors' offices have an arcade video game in them...especially ones with great 80s and 90s arcade games?!? Anyway, throughout the last 3 1/2 years or so Dr. Newman continued to be as great as he was during that first visit and our daughter's teeth look absolutely great. She had a couple of days of pain throughout the process, usually from the major adjustments, but my daughter is very happy with the results. When I waited three months for have a consult with the oral surgeon, dentist and ortho all together to maybe move that "fun" tooth, only one of them showed up...then when I was told by the oral surgeon it wouldn't be in my best interest to move it then made me see the ortho to convince me otherwise. This is all while I waited 3 hours....while they passed me from exam room to billing to the waiting room back to the exam room...with zero communication between the professionals who are supposed to know what's going on. I told them I was uncomfortable about how this was all being handled, the billing woman laughed it off "we're not usually like this!!" Then...even after that I was going to go to my root canal appointment I booked three months in advance since that was their first opening...they call me 9 days before my appointment (that I already scheduled myself off work for) to tell me the dentist was no longer available that day..... There was zero privacy; everything was out in the open, and I constantly felt like just another number. The doctor never seemed to remember what was done from one visit to the next, and it was clear there was no real continuity of care. What's worse, my teeth have shifted again because a wisdom tooth came down--something that should have been foreseen in the panoramic X-ray. But that critical detail was overlooked. The orthodontist is so overwhelmed, bouncing between multiple patients at once, that any one-on-one attention is virtually nonexistent.
