I unfortunately had to move out-of-state, and he tried his best to help with my tooth problems before I had to move. He's knowledgeable, caring, and patient. He always tried to be conservative with the work he did on my teeth, focusing on the most important areas and didn't push expensive treatments on me that weren't 100% necessary. A lot of dentists I went to would 1.) look at my teeth and then decide on a plethora of things to do to them, without consulting me - and b) forget about the issues I had and/or not address them fully. Dr Davia always listened to my concerns and kept it simple, unless it was clear a more complex procedure was definitely needed. I wish I could give a bonus star for how painless the injections were (lots of dentists seem to rush this part and it causes a lot of pain and anxiety for me). Also the dental hygienist I saw, Kathleen, was so sweet and careful with my teeth. She was great at making me feel comfortable during my cleanings & always made me feel special.

The office itself and the waiting room had a computer for kids to play games and was very clean. Kathleen my hygienist was amazing and very informative. My teeth felt amazing after she cleaned them. I really liked that she proceeded mouthwash and let me rinse in between sessions. Dr. Davia came in after my session was talked to me. He eased any worries I had about my teeth and let me know the next steps he wanted to do in my next appointment. I didn't feel like he was rushing with me . He was very genuine and kind. I was honestly very impressed with my service. The office isn't as fancy as your newer facilities or dental spa's. You can depend on the staff at Dr. Davia. He will not try to nickel and dime you for treatments or services.

I rarely write reviews, and the ones I usually write are positive. I went to Virginia Family…read moreDentistry because of the glowing reviews, but my experience was quite different. I've lived in the Richmond area for over 40 years and found their business practices concerning. My 19-year-old son, 17-year-old daughter, and I had appointments last week. After being informed that our new patient visits would total $577 for the same services (since we are self-pay), I agreed to proceed. While I understand my son is an adult, I made it clear that I would be paying for everything. I grew concerned when my dentist suggested pulling a back tooth due to a gap that might cause bacteria issues, despite no current problems plus making recommendation to see their periodontist and pushing a possible the idea of an implant for the tooth; as well as, selling them on their orthodontist after I mentioned that I had seen the orthodontist the day before...which they said they never got x-rays for and it didn't matter because theirs would be different. Additionally, we were told afterward that my daughter's visit would cost $60 more due to extra X-rays, which we were not informed about in advance. It's comparable to a mechanic doing extra work without getting your approval first. I decided to go along with it, appreciating the new patient discount. They then informed us my son would need a deep cleaning instead of a regular one and scheduled it for this week, again without giving any pricing information. When he asked if there would be extra costs, they implied there shouldn't be. Later, we found out this service would cost over $200. This was surprising since we were told otherwise, and they knew I was responsible for the payments. When I asked why we didn't receive a discount for my son's previous visit since he didn't get a cleaning the first time, they said his services were different. How? When the whole purpose of the visit was for a check up and cleaning. After speaking with the office manager, Lauren, I felt unheard and unacknowledged as a customer. She did not apologize or address my concerns, only defending their position. As a business coach and consultant, I've rarely encountered such poor customer service communication outside of the restaurant industry. We ultimately decided not to proceed with the additional service. Virginia Family Dentistry's communication with patients is lacking at best and unethical at worst. They lost out on over $1,500 of upcoming services we would have needed and the lifetime value of a customer. Choose carefully! They will not be getting any recommendations from me. It's noteworthy that they've disabled reviews on Facebook, which might explain the abundance of positive reviews here. I prefer practices that prioritize people over profits and are not influenced by private equity.

It was at that time that I asked for a referral, and he recommended Virginia Family Dentistry Orthodontist. And I have to admit that was the BEST recommendation anyone could have EVER given me. From the very first moment I walked through their doors, I was greeted so warmly that I knew I was in the right place. Their receptionist and front office personnel are very warm, inviting, and professional. But it didn't stop there. The initial process was informative with the comfort and ease necessary to help me make a decision. After that first visit, I was sold! When the day came to receive my braces, I was so excited! Their caring service, is by far the BEST! And they worked within my budget and I couldn't be happier. My regular dentist, who I've been with for 15 years, really gave me an EXCELLENT referral when he recommended Virginia Family Dentistry. They are now my favorite place to visit. I'm so glad I listened to my dentist!

I had to go back 2 second time with a week and the dentist waving his hands in the air simply said, he can't do anything!!! When I voice my frustration. He refused me any further treatment and said I could go see a different dentist. I followed a medical practitioner's advise to preventive care and am now left with pain and suffering, neither of which I had, had gone to his office for a free dental cleaning. This practice has poor bed side manner and is designed to squeeze every dollar that they can out of you. I do not recommend this practice to anyone seeking care. Setting up appointments was rather simple and the office was technology forward, clean, bright and new. The building was recently renovated and they have a large parking lot. However, it was obvious that behind their fancy facade lies the drive to pad their bottom line. My first check up here was pretty comprehensive with all the x-rays being taken and teeth properly scaled. This took approximately 45 minutes into the hour long appointment. The hygienist spent a good 10 minutes trying to explain for me why I should pay for the up charge for fluoride even though it already covered under my insurance plan. The hygienist and dentist spent the last 20 minutes of my appointment creating a sense of urgency telling me to prevent my teeth from cracking that I needed to buy from them a mouth guard, electric tooth brushes, teeth whitening, etc all of which I get for free from my dental sales rep neighbor. My second appointment consisted of a longer sales pitch than actual care. My second cleaning here with the same tech didn't even last all of 10 minutes, which is inadequate to receive a proper scaling done, she didn't even floss my teeth. I received another repeated lecture regarding why an up charge for the fluoride was highly recommended even though it was already covered by insurance. Followed by another 20 minutes berating me on why I did not want to proceed with making an mouth guard and signing up for their teeth whitening treatments. I've never had any issues with my teeth and I cannot imagine how this practice would try and extort me if I had actually had an issue with my teeth. This has left a bad taste in my mouth and I cannot recommend anyone come to this practice.

I had a hole in my tooth that I've been obsessing over for 2 years. It ended up being from a fallen out filling and a cavity was building in it. No other issues. I was so relieved. In my first visit I had x-rays and a cleaning and a few days later got the cavity fixed. This was a few months ago and I'm just getting around to reviewing now. It was an exceedingly positive experience.
