Made a U-Haul reservation with a furniture dolly. Went to pick up the reservation and was told that they don't have any Dollie's but we can buy one. Was very aloof about the fact we would have to buy one. "It's very busy". And as soon as she saw me starting to make a yelp review she blamed the reservation on corporate. Overall not the worst but inconvenient location to rent U-Haul truck and especially trailers. The first reservation was dated back in mid September. We scheduled a 6x 12 enclosed trailer that had been in an inconvenient location for any truck to pull up and hitch the trailer. I had asked if they can switch to a different trailer and from one of there employees who I believe name was Dan or Nick in his early 30s, with a small beard had said a hard no with an attitude. The manager or owner I believe had then came and asked what was the issue and I had explained and he seen that I couldn't any further for by reversing back by trying not to hit one of their tanks that weren't able to be moved by a dolly, and there dolly's in the front of the way, had also said a hard no and made us late to our destination eventually. read more

Bauers does great work. I have had them do 2 hitches for me and I have rented U hauls from them. Always great to work with and very helpful. I needed a hitch for my new car. I had luck with 2 installations in the past with Bauer's so I called them again. I was told it would be at least 10 days. Ok. So today was finally the day! I arrived promptly on time. In the past I was offered a ride home. I asked about that (I live exactly 5 min. away) and was told they don't give rides anymore. My only option was Uber. Went home to wait since there is no comfortable place to wait at Bauer's. After being home for a while, got a call from them saying they didn't actually have the correct parts because the work order said Mazda CX-50 instead of the CX-5 that I have. Had to Uber back to pick up my car. Over $30 in Uber costs and I'm back to square one. The attitude when I picked up the car was 'oh well'. read more

Completed a UHAUL rental with this facility and would highly recommend you go elsewhere if you're considering the same. I booked multiple weeks in advance, but when I arrived for pickup I was immediately told all of the dolly rental equipment was unavailable (he didn't bother to check before communicating this). Came back to the counter with 2 of the 4 dollies I reserved, said the other 2 they didn't have, but conveniently had 1 available for purchase in the gas station at full price. If you don't have the equipment available, fine, but couldn't a courtesy call be made? Really poor service. read more

Always love the price of gas at Bauer's, but now love that they are going green! Instead of selling windshield wiper fluid by the bottle, they have an Easy-Fill tank! (Eliminating plastic use!) It's right by the gas! You swipe your card and can top off or fill it all! read more

I used the U-Haul website for hitch estimate. Price came in at $471, installed, but I would have to wait an extra 4 days. Then I called Bauer's Custom Hitches - they are a U-Haul Rental service. Got a price of $471 from them on the phone - when I wanted it done. Dropped off my car and when I picked it up, I was given a bill for $738.55. When I reminded them that they quoted me $471 - they said that was for the hitch, only. I did not get a written estimate from them before I had the work done - so I had to pay them the inflated price. My costly lesson is now yours - for free. I will never do business with them again and suggest you be very careful, if you do. read more

After my experience with Bauer's Custom Hitches, I highly recommend this team to anyone who is looking to have a hitch installed and/or in need of maintenance. TL;DR: Great service, extremely fair pricing, will not up-charge, cares about its customers I made an appointment to have a hitch installed on my 2012 GMC Terrain because we are moving across the country in a couple of weeks. Bauer's gave me an estimate of $386 to purchase the hitch, install the hitch and install the necessary lighting. I'm probably going to explain this wrong, but when I went to have the hitch installed, the tie threads (?) were rusted and needed to be changed in order to bolt the hitch to the frame. The service advisor, Shay, explained the situation to me asked if he could replace them at $5/pop. When he was removing the old threads, one was so rusted it cracked off inside the frame. Shay had already installed the wiring for the lighting, but could not put on the hitch at this point because it could not be bolted into the frame in all 6 spots required. The Bauer's team told me to go home over the weekend, and that they would consult an engineer to determine how to proceed. They did not charge me for the work that they had already done (lighting and re-threading the additional ties(?)). Shay explained to me that the cost had not changed. When I returned, Bauer's had researched this issue and purchased a new tool in order to fix the problem. Shay spent 2+ hours trying to remove the rusted piece, and he eventually was able to put the hitch on. Although he spent several hours longer working on my car than scheduled, Bauer's only charged me for one additional hour of service on top of my estimated price, and I ended up paying only about $90 more than my original estimate, despite all of the additional work that had to be done. The estimate from GMC for all of the work Bauer's did came back at over $1,200.00. I spent about $475. I left feeling confident that I will be able to safely move without having spent a ton of money. This has been my main shop for car fixes for a few years now. Brad, the mechanic, is honest and always seems to find what's wrong quickly and much cheaper than the other places I've frequented. They always seem to get me fixed up quickly -- which is a god send for a one car guy like me with a 45 minute commute. Mike, the owner, is super friendly and always insistent that i call him personally if the car isn't up to my standards, although I've never had to take him up on it. Never needed to rent a U-Hual, but you can bet I'd go to Bauer's if i ever do need to. read more

Booked my U-Haul rental at another location (Hopkins) but they didn't have a truck so they told me to go to Bauer....I'm so happy to have used Bauer...they are AWESOME!! Not only did they walk me though all of the steps for the truck rental, they even offered me a lower price if I brought back the rental early. This company answered on their 4th of July holiday and even though the garage was closed the owner checked in with one of the employees who was doing his personal car work on the holiday. My issue was with the fuel door not opening and I was running low on gas! He said I could stop by to see if the mechanic could help if it was an easy problem to fix. After speaking with the owner, Mike Bauer, and getting factual and easy to understand information, I took my Toyota van in to get a transmission cooler installed. After the hassle of pulling the fender, the mechanic (Randy?) found there already was a cooler. Instead of just not saying anything, Bauer's called me and gave me the good news, saving me about $300. They close at 4:30 so if you have a normal job, good luck getting there when they are open. If you do actually get there when they are open, you'll get a lecture on your propane tank and how doing a swap at the SuperAmerica (across the street) is a rip off. But my response was, at least they were open on my way home from work. There are better places to get propane. Not sure why I'd ever go back there. read more
