He will work with you and make reasonable and good suggestions. Third, he will save you money. Lots and lots of money. We had an old water heater that went out, which was a real problem because we have baseboard heat. So, we really needed a water heater. We had a quote from our heating company and Dave said he could beat the quote. He got us a continual hot water heater, installed, for about $4K less than what we had been quoted. Work was top notch. We have hired Dave for several projects, not the least of which was replacing the hot water heater. A major project was renovating our garage. His work was great but a lot of it was during the winter, which meant that there were a number of people who were calling about heaters and issues with their house affected by the cold. When we needed a hot water heater, our work went to the top of the list. When it's January and some of the garage needs to be finished, work for others that is really important in the Alaska winter (like water heaters and other issues) went to the top of the list. I suppose I could bitch about that but I also recognize that the time line of my garage being finished isn't a matter of life and death. Fixing someone's heat or hot water or other matters can be life or death in an Alaska winter. I figure it's better to have a really competent handy man with a conscience than making sure my garage is his A#1 priority. So when his timeline for finishing our garage gets delayed because he's fixing the heat on an elderly couple's house, I don't worry. All in all, Dave's done excellent work. He's also been completely up front and 100% honest and done a great job. I've recommended him to friends of ours who are older and need real help because I know he will do a competent job and be honest about his services. That is, I know he will do a good job and I don't have to worry about him overcharging them. My wife and I are already discussing our next projects with him. I don't know if I can give a higher recommendation than that.

We thought we were going to build in the summer of 2018, but after a couple meetings, we decided to wait one more year. While still a few months away from spring, we started getting together to go over our plans, get quotes and sign our contract. We were kept in the loop constantly and they stayed right on track with their timing. They worked with us from the beginning, allowing us to be part of the project, along with doing some of the work ourselves. Robert stands behind the houses and shops he's built like none other! Post earthquake 2018, Robert was in touch with every home owner for homes he has built within the last 20+ years and took care of everyone that had any troubles. It was absolutely incredible! That's the type of service that gets people coming back again and again! Working with them has been wonderful and has built a friendship to boot! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend CMM to build your next incredible home or shop!

These guys were a nightmare. We had a house fire last year. We contacted this company to do the…read morerebuild work. The first week they were great. Then they just went downhill. Didn't read the plans, didn't plan/schedule things ahead of time. Workers would only show up a couple days a week, a few hours at a time. My favorite guys were the two 70 year olds who were on perpetual break. We had to beg them all summer to get things done. Usually they would show up if they wanted some money. As soon as they got a check, they disappeared for weeks. We were compensated almost 9 months to live in a house from insurance. But because of 84th's inability to do a simple garage and entry way addition in a timely manner, Me, my wife and 2 small children had to stay in a 20' camper in our front yard for 3 months while they took their sweet time doing anything. I had to step in and perform drywall work and excavation work as well as repair framing to the house to speed the project up. I received no compensation for this labor. Despite paying nearly 6 grand in project management fees, they did not bill my insurance correctly, then tried passing the costs on to me to the tune of 20 thousand dollars. You don't receive any kind of itemized billing (because we agreed to a set price) so it wasn't until the end of the project I realized how much over the budget they were. When asked about it I was given the response of " Oh I figured I would just charge you time and material because it was easier" So I asked for a time and material statement and never got one despite repeated requests. Even my attorney couldn't get one. Most of the charges were bogus as well. Which is probably why they did not submit to insurance. I ended up lawyering up but it was becoming to costly to fight. I'm sure they knew this going in. The guys wife is an attorney so they get the buddy rate for legal fees I'm sure. As of this writing they have not completed the warranty work around my house. I cant say strongly enough to avoid this shady outfit.

My mom retired after living in Alaska for 30 years, she bought a place in Hawaii that we spent 5 years fixing up, I wrote 1 review of all the people that helped us (and there were a lot :-)... and now we have a house back in Alaska and I've already found 2 Yelp-worthy guys??!?! The 411: Ryan, Dylan, Evan, Daniel, and 2 other great guys who's names I'm blanking on... they are collectively a power-house of competence, kindness, concern for my interests, smarts to figure out how to 'get it done', deferential to my constant needs for updates, pictures, and information. I am so thankful that we found these guys. Our project looks better than expected, it was done on a time-frame that no one else could promise to deliver on, the pricing was very fair, and their commitment to getting it right and making sure I was happy stayed true to the end. Most of my project was 'finish carpentry' type work, the bulk of it was installing 21 beautiful wood doors that I'd ordered from Ohio (Homestead Door company, found them on Houzz, good company), all new door and window trim, new baseboards, and new banisters for staircase and loft railing. And while I am thoroughly impressed by all this work that was done, I'm perhaps even more impressed that I could add 4-5 other smaller projects and get those done as well. This requires organization and having the right guys with competence in all aspects of construction to do well. And again, that they cared, the bulk of the job described above was where they made their money, its just as easy to say, "Sorry, that was the project we agreed to", get paid, move on. But it really seemed most important to them that they have a happy customer. And I feel great (and excited) that I've got someone to 'partner' with to finish the kitchen and bathrooms. And to know they'll stand by their work and stick with it until its done right. They had several very good references which is why I chose them originally, and those references were not wrong, these guys are worth promoting.
