Didn't read the plans, didn't plan/schedule things ahead of time. Workers would only show up a couple days a week, a few hours at a time. My favorite guys were the two 70 year olds who were on perpetual break. We had to beg them all summer to get things done. Usually they would show up if they wanted some money. As soon as they got a check, they disappeared for weeks. We were compensated almost 9 months to live in a house from insurance. But because of 84th's inability to do a simple garage and entry way addition in a timely manner, Me, my wife and 2 small children had to stay in a 20' camper in our front yard for 3 months while they took their sweet time doing anything. I had to step in and perform drywall work and excavation work as well as repair framing to the house to speed the project up. I received no compensation for this labor. Despite paying nearly 6 grand in project management fees, they did not bill my insurance correctly, then tried passing the costs on to me to the tune of 20 thousand dollars. You don't receive any kind of itemized billing (because we agreed to a set price) so it wasn't until the end of the project I realized how much over the budget they were. When asked about it I was given the response of " Oh I figured I would just charge you time and material because it was easier" So I asked for a time and material statement and never got one despite repeated requests. Even my attorney couldn't get one. Most of the charges were bogus as well. Which is probably why they did not submit to insurance. I ended up lawyering up but it was becoming to costly to fight. I'm sure they knew this going in. The guys wife is an attorney so they get the buddy rate for legal fees I'm sure. As of this writing they have not completed the warranty work around my house. I cant say strongly enough to avoid this shady outfit.

These guys are the real deal. This is my second Yelp-worthy review of Alaskan contractor and I…read morealmost can't believe it. My mom retired after living in Alaska for 30 years, she bought a place in Hawaii that we spent 5 years fixing up, I wrote 1 review of all the people that helped us (and there were a lot :-)... and now we have a house back in Alaska and I've already found 2 Yelp-worthy guys??!?! The 411: Ryan, Dylan, Evan, Daniel, and 2 other great guys who's names I'm blanking on... they are collectively a power-house of competence, kindness, concern for my interests, smarts to figure out how to 'get it done', deferential to my constant needs for updates, pictures, and information. I am so thankful that we found these guys. Our project looks better than expected, it was done on a time-frame that no one else could promise to deliver on, the pricing was very fair, and their commitment to getting it right and making sure I was happy stayed true to the end. Most of my project was 'finish carpentry' type work, the bulk of it was installing 21 beautiful wood doors that I'd ordered from Ohio (Homestead Door company, found them on Houzz, good company), all new door and window trim, new baseboards, and new banisters for staircase and loft railing. And while I am thoroughly impressed by all this work that was done, I'm perhaps even more impressed that I could add 4-5 other smaller projects and get those done as well. This requires organization and having the right guys with competence in all aspects of construction to do well. And again, that they cared, the bulk of the job described above was where they made their money, its just as easy to say, "Sorry, that was the project we agreed to", get paid, move on. But it really seemed most important to them that they have a happy customer. And I feel great (and excited) that I've got someone to 'partner' with to finish the kitchen and bathrooms. And to know they'll stand by their work and stick with it until its done right. They had several very good references which is why I chose them originally, and those references were not wrong, these guys are worth promoting. I'm so very thankful for the work they did on our house, they deserve all their success!

Corey & Orion were on-site shortly after our first call to inspect the damage and get an estimate. Because our home was built in the 90s and garage panels are not universal and need to be matched our specific garage door wasn't readily available. Since it was the winter Corey was able to make adjustments on the fly so we could shut the door since it was winter and below zero. I had done some research locally and online for replacement pricing and Corey proposed repair and replacement that was not only cheaper but better than what I could source by myself. I highly recommend Polar Express Doors for your home garage work.

Not only did he take all our information over the phone, he provided us with a timeline of when we could expect him to take a look at our house. He was able to come to our house a few days earlier than anticipated, he was professional, and he immediately got to work on our roof. After his inspection he found that the roof leak was due to the flashing around an exhaust pipe not being sealed properly. Where other contractors might have taken advantage of such a situation by claiming more damage repairs were needed, Hayden corrected our problem at no charge to us. We cannot express how much we appreciated his professionalism and honesty. We will definitely give Spartan Roofing any work we may have in the future, and we highly recommend them.

I fixed the downspouts then called them, and several days later two kids came to 'fix' the problems. Some issues were corrected, but new ones were created: 1) Repairs resulted in more damage to the fascia and no offer was made to repair it. 2) The rear gutter still has a low spot that retains 1/2"+ of water, way towards what is supposed to be the high end: This was pointed out to the installer who argued that my eyes were wrong and his 3" pocket level is dead accurate. 3) Repairs left numerous holes in the back side of the gutter (visible from inside the home) and holes in the metal edge trim. None of which were caulked or sealed. 4) Numerous leaks (some significant) between the back side of the gutter and fascia. 5) A new, 12" long split in the fascia was noted after the crew left. 6) The trim at the front miter has fully separated from the face of the gutter on one side. 7) A gutter hanger found on the ground below a section of gutter that now is five feet between supports. Apparently dropped during the 'repairs' but never replaced. The installer gave me his phone number and asked me to call him if there were any other issues. I did. Three times in two days. Will be calling others tomorrow and will follow up here. Oct. 14; Three times a charm. Issues have been addressed and we now have an acceptable installation.
