Mat-Su Carpentry and Construction - Fireplace remodel, custom built floating shelves

My contractor said they couldn't take it on, so I started looking for a carpenter and came across Kyle. From the beginning, Kyle showed outstanding dedication and work ethic. He researched the best ways to approach the project and offered a couple of options. He then completed the work in just a few days, taking great care of both the house and the work area -- something I really appreciated. His attention to detail was excellent: from carefully matching the stain color to the existing finish, to making fine adjustments to the cabinet doors and drawers. Overall, I'd highly recommend Kyle to anyone looking for carpentry or construction work. I'll definitely reach out to him for future projects.

U-B-Fixed LLC was one of three estimates we obtained. We've taught family and friends to do all their due diligence before hiring any business. We started with checking the required licenses of this business. Here on Yelp this business, which is claimed, advertises they are "General Contractors". Per Nevada State Contractors Board, they're not General Contractors and never have been. Furthermore, later the Nevada State Contractors Board web site changed to this business has no valid contractors license. Weird, huh? We checked with City of Reno, and this business has no City of Reno Business License. That didn't matter to Code Enforcement Officer Cynthia or City of Reno Business License Department, although Reno Municipal Code requires a business license to transact business in Reno. Weird, huh? On this business website, it advertises "U-B-Fixed is family owned and operated by Oceana Grabinowski". Per Nevada State Contractors Board, that's not true. Weird, huh? When we contacted the business about these discrepancies and ask about a Military Veterans Discount, the telephone number was disconnected. At that point we reasonably assumed the business was no longer in business in Nevada. Per Nevada State Contractors Board, advertising one is a contractor or that one performs or completes construction work or a work of improvement without required statement in their advertisements that they're NOT licensed as a contractor is a violation of NRS 624.720 Unlawful advertising; any person NOT licensed who advertises to perform or complete construction work or a work of improvement MUST state in the advertisement that they're NOT licensed as a contractor. She wasn't afraid to tell us what she thought wouldn't work and why she also did a fantastic job telling us what colors and styles should go together and why. She helped us make our focal points pop. She also went above and beyond by finding out what color our walls would be to make sure that everything matched and went together. Turns out the color we had on our walls would've made this look very strange. So it was awesome of her to go the extra step and say hey this is something you should change. she was able to provide samples of most of the things we had got so we could see how it would look all together. trust me when I say I hate shopping. And this has been a lot of decision making for our new home. The fact that we were here for multiple hours and I didn't feel like we were shopping just shows how great she is keeping the conversation good and distracting while still pulling out the information needed to make our home perfect. she even informed us about the next steps and told us some tips on selecting lights that would go well with what we had just picked out. She was unlike anyone else. The fact that she gave us ideas for lights that would work well in our home and reminded us of things to do and not do we are truly grateful for. she wanted to design our home with us in mind not just sell us product. She was able to work within our budget and help us save money where we could and spend money where we needed to. She told us the difference between products the times that they would last and when we would possibly have to replace. I truly hope I don't have to fix replace or change anything anytime soon. But I know if we do I know exactly who were going to see. Thank you again so much once our home is complete we can't wait to invite you over so you can help see what you created.
