Battleship 12k just celebrated its 10th year of racing, honoring the US Military members and veterans. This is an awesome, flat run from Spanish Fort, AL to the USS Alabama in Mobile, running alongside the I-10 twin span over Mobile Bay. The background of this race is special. The founder was always bothered at the lack of honor his father and so many others received upon returning from Vietnam, and he wanted to do something to honor all those who have served this country in the armed forces. The event has grown through the years and sold out this year! If you run consecutive years, you get a challenge coin, and the medals are always absolutely. stellar! If you are a military active member or veteran, you have a special bib, and it is absolutely heartwarming to see the crowd give special acknowledgement to them.
