It seemed like the coolest thing I had ever heard of and I always wanted to get certified myself. It may have taken me a long time but I am happy to report that I am officially a certified diver. Adventure Locators is where I took my certification training and I could not be happier with their instruction, the staff, and their prices. On my first trip here to sign up for training, I met Jerry who I later learned would be my head instructor. He is patient, informative, and passionate about diving. I knew nearly nothing about diving (other than it involves water) before starting the SSI course here. Jerry was able to teach and explain the concepts where they were easy to understand. When I had questions, and boy did I have questions, he took the time to thoroughly explain what I was asking. During my pool time, and more importantly during open water dives, he made sure I performed the necessary skills, but he also made sure I was safe. I felt completely at ease despite being submerged 30 feet under the springs in Florida. He is really a great instructor and also a great cook (they fed us well on the dive trip). On my next trip to the shop for the classroom portion of training, I met Dawn, the owner of the shop. She too is awesome. In addition to being super knowledgeable and passionate about diving, she is kind and patient with new students. She also has a really badass vehicle but I digress. There is so much more that I could say about this shop but it would take me all day to write this review. One thing I do want to mention is their prices on gear and service. Their prices are very competitive and buying stuff from them supports local business owners. They offer several discounted prices on sets of gear you need and can order almost anything. In addition to my mask, fins, and snorkel, I got a super cool branded head strap for my mask. You will know it's mine if you see it because it is hot pink. I figure I will be easy to spot and sharks won't eat me if they know I am tough enough to wear pink. William and Emily ( my families instructors) were beyond patient with my kids and I as they helped us master all the skills required for certification. They gave us as many opportunities as we needed to feel confident at performing each skill! I always knew I was safe, and that they would help me improve in the areas I struggled with. We did a certification weekend at Vortex Spring Florida, which was truly fantastic! I felt like I was being welcomed into a community of people with a common passion and a desire to see new people join them. There were families, 20-30 year olds, and seasoned divers and everyone just became instant friends. If you're thinking about getting certified this is definitely the right shop to use!

We had a total of a few hours, for 2 days, with this guy and he probably made 100+ innopropriate remarks towards my wife. I just laughed it off but she was obviously uncomfortable. I requested a refund and this guy gave us back less then half what we paid, which was around $1100! We were also uncomfortable about the marijuana smell coming from his area and employee. We are in the process of talking to the BBB and issuing a complaint. He is welcome to try and make this right.
