It was a hot, summer day in early June when I stumbled upon Rand's. I was on my way to Hoboken, NJ…read moreto visit close friends from college, in what was planned to be a weekend of drinks, laughs, and relaxation. Hopes were high as I embarked on my journey from Boston. About an hour into my drive, the worst of my fears came to fruition. The engine stalled on the highway, and I had to watch as the mph slowly drifted from 75 to 0. After slowly making my way over to the shoulder of the road, I turned the car off and on again to see if it would still drive. The car, luckily, turned back on, so I started frantically searching my on my smartphone for a local mechanic, knowing that the fate of my trip hinged on the kindness of a stranger. That's when I pulled into Rand's and met Butch. He had been doing desk-work behind a computer, but stopped to hear my story and take a look at my car. He spent the next hour running diagnostic tests and carefully examining the under-the-hood parts for leaks and cracks. After finding no leaks, he replaced the coolant in my car and had me go for a quick test drive to see if the temperature had stabilized. Thankfully, it had, and I was on my way only a few minutes later. Butch, of course, wouldn't accept payment, but I hope he knows how grateful I am for his assistance that day. I made it to NJ and back without a hitch, and our Hoboken weekend was saved due to his generosity. It's safe to say that there's a culture of honesty, integrity, and generosity at Rand's, and I would recommend their service to anyone in the Shrewsbury area.

Great service deserves recognition, and I believe you should treat people like you want to be treated. I had a bad transmission leak, and got our van towed to Rand's a bit after noon on Dec. 30, 2024. The Service Manager indicated he had a pretty good idea of what the issue was (transmission cooler line), and they would take care of it. Being Dec. 30, I was not sure when I'd get the van back, since the scope of the work was unknown, and could they could even get the part needed. Surprisingly, I got a call around 4:15 that same day that the van was ready. My wife and I drove over to pick it up and met three handsome young men waiting for us (they close at 4:30, so we arrived a few minutes after that time). Between their quick repair, and the very reasonable cost, I will definitely be going back. So, in too many words, I am a fan of Rand's and encourage other customers to give them a try. I really don't think you'll be disappointed.

When I moved to Worcester a number of years back, I knew no one, and, pretty soon after I got here,…read moremy car got slammed into by one of the locals. My insurance adjuster could not recommend any body shop, but he could tell me where he takes his. So, I went to that place, and they recommended Star-Tech for the non-body repairs. Abe is pretty much the whole show at this place, and he is honest as they come. If this Turd was charged for the repairs, it is because Abe probably heard this guy tell him over the phone that he approved the charges. Now maybe this Turd couldn't string together a clear sentence and meant to express to Abe ambivalence, but I don't think for a minute that Abe would purposely put through a fix without authorization. Also, it seems that Turd uses Yelp just to vent his anger, except in the case of Niko's Pizza? Niko's Pizza is the hole that I looked to for assistance when I first drove to the Worcester area. I was lost. The guy behind the counter wouldn't even give me directions unless I bought something. I got a slice of pizza, and it was less than good. Abe cares very much about his customers. When we were on the hunt for a new car, my wife mentioned it to Abe, just in passing, and he took time out, without her asking or dropping hints or expecting anything, to discuss with her what would be best to ensure the safety of our three young girls. He also isn't out to rip you off. When an exhaust clamp and the surrounding exhaust parts were damaged, Abe explained that, if he fixed it, he would replace all three parts, costing us significantly, but, if I took it to Lou's Custom Exhaust, they could probably just weld together a solid fix without replacing the parts, for much less. His prices are very reasonable, and he is generally very prompt. We've gone to numerous mechanics in our time, and most of them are out to make a quick buck at your expense. One guy even tried writing in additional "fails" into my wife's inspection that weren't required testing. I've seen a lot of crooked mechanics in my time, and so I know the difference between the good ones and the bad ones. I only trust my car repairs to Abe and Star-Tech. His fixes are always timely and well-done, and he is just a good person. I wholly recommend his shop.

When I got to the shop it was clean and clearly busy. He greeted me, told me to take a seat in their super cozy and welcoming waiting room. I loved the fact that they have a little library in there. Although they had a lot of work my tire was patched up in less than 10 minutes (I didn't get passed 5 pages of the book I chose) I'm always nervous that shops are going to take advantage of me because I'm one of those women who CLEARLY knows nothing about cars.
