Once in awhile they may not have as many bottles of something that I want, so the staff helps me find something similar that meets my scent profile. Either way, it's just a better store all around.

It always amazes me just how many different sentences they have, which is great but that brings me to my only thing I don't like about the store. All the sentences mixed together can be a bit overwhelming.

I was searching for the beach chapstick and asked the cashier as she walked past if they had it and she said they didn't have it. I then looked around when I was and located it. During the time I was looking for the beach chapstick I opened the drawer that was directly below where it should have been. I didn't see it so I closed the drawer and located the chapstick directly in front of me was that hiding in plain sight. While checking out with all my items that totaled $75.84 after discounts the cashier asked if I was an employee. I said no and the cashier replied "you are absolutely not allowed to open the drawers." In a rude and condescending tone. I said I'm sorry, I won't do it again and proceed with my checkout. After leaving my family and I were taking about how rude it was for the cashier to act like that especially after not assisting me in locating the Chapstick. The comment "you are absolutely not allowed to open the drawers" stuck with all of us. My husband said we should return the items based on our customer experience and we all agreed. No business should receive a customer's money when the employee is rude. While returning the items my husband informed the same employee that we were returning the items based on her attitude. The employee said she was sorry for the way she acted and my husband said "we are absolutely returning these based on your attitude and the way you treated us." My husband said there are no signs informing customers not to open the drawers where extra items are located. The employee agreed and said you are correct there aren't any signs informing customers. I don't think they actually do much in the way of retail out of this location because what they have for sale in the foyer isn't when representative of all their products. What makes it worth stopping in though is the prices, which are a dollar or two cheaper than any other locations. They also have deeply discounted soaps that came in under weight. My favorite Denali Dreams product is actually their lip gloss, which is all natural and really hydrates and doesn't leave a weird residue. And it tastes really good. I also love their 2 dollar bars which a great for shaving with. It doesn't really lather, but makes a great slick coating that cuts down on razor burn. In general I buy their soap because I want to support local, not because I love it. It's an okay product, made with natural ingredients here in Anchorage. I prefer Talkeetna Girl soaps, which are a far superior product, but much harder to find here in Anchorage. I'm not crazy about most of their fragrances which I find to be very manly. The blueberry and cinnamons both have a nice girly frangrance, but the rose on the grandma end of the spectrum. They do have a full line of soaps for men, such as IPA and lager which is totally adorable. Denali soaps are great gifts for your friends and family in the lower 48. In summary, buy local kids.
