Del Valle Regional Park

Del Valle Regional Park

This review is specifically for the campground here at Del Valle. We had a range for a large family…read moreand friends. Camping event can early october and had booked multiple campsites. The sites were huge and even better there was plenty of flat ground for pitching tents. Showers and bathroom facilities deeper in the campground towards site 39 we're very clean and very new. The hot showers were also super warm and the best part is no coins. The bathrooms themselves also seem to be heated so even in the cold october evenings, you were warm inside the bathroom. We did not go down to the water due to blue algae, but there was still plenty of things to do for the kids as they loved being able to ride all around the grounds on their bikes. Fire pits in the evening were also very clean and had plenty of airflow to make good bonfires. There were regular patrols from the rangers and the east bay, regional parks police, it all felt very safe. Just be advised. There's plenty of wildlife in the evenings and they do not seem like they are scared of people. We had a family of four raccoons in the tree at our site and there was also a skunk that visited and got within an a few feet away from us one night. Thankfully it lost interest and left, otherwise we would have been in trouble. There were also deer and squirrels to be seen. Also, please watch out for rattlesnakes, we stumbled upon one on the road while biking around the camp ground. Make sure all food including uncooked pasta noodles are stored in a safe location overnight Otherwise, the animals will get into it. No bear boxes at the sites, so may need to store things in your vehicle. All in all everyone had a fantastic time when the kids loved it. We'll be back next year.

And it was beautiful so who really won? I don't recall which trail we did, but the views were nice. There's not much shade along the trail we took so I'd say wear a hat if you can and stay hydrated. Once in a while, we saw a random cow walking along which was cool. This place is popular - we saw a lot of families and bicyclists when we were here.

I love all things automotive and in my younger days, I was into little rice rockets and wasted way too much money on those. I've now grown up and have gotten into a mature motorsport. I'd love to go on actual trails with the family one day, but for now, I limit myself to controlled SVRAs. Carnegie is great because it's close to home and it's only $5 to get in. Yes, the 4x4 play area is on the smaller side, but it does the job when you just wanna get a little dirty. They actually have some technical climbs, and I'll leave those to the Rubicons wearing 37s. For now, I can get over the hills and some of the mud pits and sand traps. It's great to stretch the legs and get the differentials going. If you got a dirt bike or quad (which I plan to get one day), then this place is even more fun. Tons of trails for you guys and everyone seems to have so much fun here. When driving around the park, watch out for the little kiddos riding. It's crazy to see 10 years olds on little bikes riding around. Good for them! Looks like there are a bunch of restrooms around, but I never got a chance to use them. I'll def be back!

My long time friend Dave Duffin (R.I.P.) petitioned to keeping Carnegie open for public use as a member of Carnegie Forever organization and has enabled our non profit organization (Oasis for Kids.org) to continue our 50 plus year tradition of taking youth ( boys and girls) there to learn how to ride safely, about safety riding gear and to have fun on motorcycles while respecting the land. This January 2026 the Park Rangers used rice hull to fill in the ruts from the rain erosion and made those areas very slippery instead of using DG or a more tractable filler and some trails had granite rocks as filler so that was challenging also. But overall, you cannot beat the low cost and huge number of trails, beginner tracks, MX tracks and picnic facilities with bathrooms as a great place for families, friends and riders of all ages to enjoy the outdoors together! Kudos to the Park Rangers for being very responsive to rider accidents as we saw some young kids go up a steep trail on a quad with no helmets on and flip over needing to be taken by stretcher down the hill for medical attention. (Rangers can be contacted via Cell phone emergency channels as cell reception is poor for calls.) Walkie Talkies are recommended for group rides . Enjoy Carnegie OHV Park! Thanks to BLM for keeping this a public recreation resource!

My daughter started with Core 1 with Coach Kina who she adores. She has been such a great role model for her. I like that the classes are organized and structured. But most importantly, Ms. Kina really takes the time to get to know each student and really looks at each student individually to see what they need to work on and how to challenge them. These are group classes, but you get a lot of one on one attention. My daughter is now starting Core 2 with Coach Brian and he is also great at explaining things clearly and presenting new challenges in a way that is not too overwhelming. This is also a very family friendly venue. It is very open so a lot of parents sit and watch (almost feels like a modern coffee shop). It's nice to have the option to be able to watch the entire class from beginning to end. Bottom line, if our daughter comes out smiling every time and got great exercise, then mommy and daddy are all smiles as well! Thank you Kina and Brian!

Also, the instructors ALWAYS look unhappy and have a sullen attitude. They don't make any effort to discipline misbehaving students either. They do the bare minimum with a very grumpy look apparent on their faces. They're nice over email and scheduling but it's way too crazy and crowded. The coaches attitudes don't help either. Lots of other places for the same price with a more positive, professional and supportive staff that smile!

This also coincides with their farmer's market. I came here last Thursday to catch "Pop Fiction", a cover band. I arrived at 5:40 PM, 20 minutes before the concert, so I walked around to check out the farmer's market. There are food trucks, fruits, veggies, seafood, pastries, and lots more. The concert is at the Amphitheater, which has a couple tiers of lawn area. Early birds take up the back section and set up their tents and tables. We had a few folder chairs, and brought our own food for a little picnic. "Pop Fiction" was high energy and did a good job with songs from the '70's to today. They were a little pitchy at times, but everyone was just having a good time. As the evening progressed, more people came up front to dance or sway. There's no shade on the lawn, so definitely bring sunscreen and hats. The park itself is huge, but I didn't have time to check it all out. We enjoyed the concert and picnic. We'll probably be back for another one before the summer is done.

Usually, I go to my old high school to run on their track, but I always have to worry about school hours or practices. I found this spot close to family that I was visiting and came over here. It probably gets busy during the weekends and nights, but the fields and track were pretty empty. I ran on the soft turf field because it's less impact for me, I saw people walking on the dirt track. But it can get quite crowded when baseball or soccer leagues hold tournaments and/or the community room is rented out for a party on weekends. Parking is often impossible at these times.
