They have hundreds of soccer shoes baseball shoes, even wrestling shoes. No court shoes. I asked an mooted what's going on. He said "we've been asking for court shoes for tennis players, pickleball players, squash players, racquetball players and corporate just seems to ignore our requests. Well, they have increased their weight lifting and exercise area, women's clothing, so I guess that's their new direction. Unfortunately, it won't be mine!

My son's brand new Nikes gave him blisters at school and did not fit him so we immediately brought them back with a receipt. There was the slightest and I mean slightest show of wear at the bottom of the shoe (one so small I would not have noticed if I bought them myself) and Tim refused to let us exchange them for a bigger size with no sympathy for our loss of money. He was honest and helpful, not only for my feet but my "soul" as well. I owed an apology for my previous night's impatient and rude behavior. I'm a Christian that had a hard day. Ryan accepted the apology and replied he felt it was the team member / business that needed to apologize. Regardless, we were both inappropriate the previous night. After informing Ryan of my needs, we quickly found what was needed for my physical therapy session that immediately followed. Ryan understood my need for speed and I was checked out fast. I say this even though I have an acquaintance that works at another shop and I don't want to take anything away from her or their store, but Appalachian Outfitters has the right idea when it comes to customer service, product selection and staffing. First, the staff at Appalachian Outfitters all are avid outdoors women/men, so they know what they are talking about. You never run into that sales person who you ask about a product and they stare at you as if you've just asked about the compound makeup of the sun. They have REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE with products and they are HONEST. They will tell you which products are truly technical products and which are just for show around town. They will tell you about their direct experience with clothing or gear. It's not just a guess or what the marketing for the product is, it's the real world scenarios that you can't get by reading a label. Their customer service is absolutely, hands down, top notch. If you have an issue or a question or a concern about a product, they go out of their way to help you resolve it or find a product that works better. Finally, they have just expanded their services and offered a free workshop which I attended last week and they offered a totally free, no strings attached learning seminar. Open to questions and afterwards provided a 10% coupon for the store. Are they pricey? Heck yeah. No more expensive than any outfitter for the gear that they are selling. Do they try to provide American Made products? YES! I love this about them. Not only do they search out and carry the best gear in the world but they go beyond and try to find the best gear that's made right here in the USA! I can't say enough.. I have been and will continue to go to them for all my outdoor gear that I can possibly get through them. Their qualities are hard to find in any other stores around (in general and in outfitters).

I will try and make this a balanced review because it's really a story with two sides…read more First, the good. The product selection is good, guns, ammo, accessories. As far as service, the range staff is top notch! Friendly, helpful, quick, attentive, commanding when they need to be. I go often and they always do a great job! Now, the bad. The service at the main checkout is the worst ever. Sometimes, they're just ignorant, which shouldn't happen with a gun shop. Basic questions cannot be answered. Other times, they're downright rude and refuse to help. One example, I bought a certain ammo one week and came back the next week to buy more but couldn't find it. So, I wanted some help to make sure I wasn't overlooking something. The guy at the counter said all ammo was on the shelves and then literally refused to help me look. This should not happen in a small shop. Even big box staff is more helpful. As for the gun counter, overall they are helpful in attitude, but their arrogance can be so high that they don't help beginners with humility and kindness. Almost like, "Who would buy that? Or everyone knows this." I don't think they're intentionally being rude, but unintentionally not humbling themselves to the level of the customer to understand their needs, budget, etc. Overall, I go there often for shooting, but I try to buy everything elsewhere. They would do well to have a rep in the store who is there to help people in the store itself, like Ace H.
