He says goodbye and leaves. The second girl starts preparing orders. It moves pretty quick now. The husband went with a banana Royale, me the jamoca almond fudge milkshake. So good. This Baskin Robins is FILTHY! Water dripping on the floor, floors are sticky, table and chairs dirty. Even the windows showing the ice cream are like little kids touched the windows and no one ever bothers to clean. Go to HEB and buy yourself a quart and call it a day in your clean home. I hate to complain but man this place was freaking filthy. Greasy fingerprints all over the place ice cream and food on the walls and counters. Smashed table displays and napkins just tossed around. The products on display were all a mess the displays needed a good deep clean. They literally have like these high school boys running the joint like come on they can take 5 mins to literally just wipe down some tables. They were most likely just chilling in the back or something cause no one was at the front. Don't get me started on the windows. Ice, Ice, Baby! BR has 31 flavors of goodness! If you've never been to a Baskin Robbins before, you've missed out. They generally have 31 flavors on hand, in big five gallon tubs, with a little description of each flavor. I came in on a hot, sweaty, steamy summer afternoon. It was raining out, and you could see the steam rising off the asphalt as soon as the raindrops hit the pavement. Ugh. Baskin Robbins was like an oasis in the heat. We came in, and were disappointed to see a single worker slinging scoops for a line of 12 kids, all asking questions about the flavors, and each having trouble picking out which flavor, which cone, which toppings, whether to get a spoon, how many napkins they'll need. It seemed stressful for everyone involved. As soon as the shop served up each of the screaming kids, the place went quiet while they ate their ice cream. I got the peanut butter and chocolate, a safe choice. It was creamy, sweet and delicious. The peanut butter was poured in when it was made, and had hardened into these thin layers of hard peanut butter. It didn't seem like it was Gif or Peter Pan or something. The shop wasn't the cleanest, but that's probably due to the twelve screaming kids in line ahead of me. Parking was easy, it's located in the Sunset Ridge shopping center, which is one of the oldest shopping centers in Texas! read more

Came here on Saturday night after dinner at Tong's Thai, I had a craving for ice cream that was too legit to quit. OMG the best rocky road is at Baskin Robbins. There was one guy working the front and the line of people that was 15 deep at 6:53pm. Some girl was walking around in the back but not helping. Good ice cream can be found anywhere and for cheaper. So service is key. Today we were passed over for a typical self-important heifer that probably lives in the area. She literally stepped up past us and the server started waiting on her completely ignoring us. Because of her age we did not comment but when it came to our turn I told the server "yes, we were here before her." He did not acknowledge or apologize. We will not be coming back to this lame excuse for a small business damaging the name of a good product. read more

Whatever female they had working August 19- close to closing needs to re evaluate her customer service. I called approx 8-9p to call in a small order for pickup. As Im trying to speak the order I couldn't help but to get "is that all" every two seconds- the service was soo bad that everyone in the car had to convince me not to pick up the order to prevent me from having to rip her a new one. Nevertheless, we went downtown to get ice cream at Mr. Ice Cream. The customer service was great, the prices, and the environment. Whoever that was working- please find her a job to do cleaning the bathroom or picking up trash in the parking lot since her current position there seems to be too much for her. Inservice her on how to she needs to speak with customer. In the meantime give her a mop and a broom to go along with her trashy attitude. read more

I went to this Baskin Robbins next to residence to buy my favorite flavor of ice cream: Daiquiri Ice. Unfortunately they didn't have the flavor, but I am not giving 3 stars for not having the flavor I wanted. I wasn't the only patron in the place, but I was the only patron that came in and was at the counter looking while others were sitting down and eating ice cream. There was a guy behind the counter and he didn't greet me. I even looked over all the flavors (by the way this particular store had 32 flavors), and eventually had to get his attention to find out if they had my favorite flavor. He said they hope to get it in the summer. UMMMMM it's the end of August.... How more summer can that be? Anyway, I opted on getting a shake which was okay. I noticed at the register while the guy was making my shake a feedback form where you can fill out on-line your experience to get a dollar off your next purchase. I picked one up, and then the masses came out. I got greeted by 2 other employees that were hiding behind the counter. 3 stars. Would have given 2 for poor customer service, but upped it one star because now Baskin Robbins posts what potential allergies are in their ice cream where they didn't do that the last time I was there. read more

Woohoo - what a great spot! Here's why: Rarely do I eat ice cream these days, but around 9pm on Saturday, the repetitive BR television advertisements actually worked on me and led me to this store. It was 9:14pm, and my fiance and I had an extreme ice cream craving. We looked up all the ice cream venues and found this nearest to us. It was open until 10! Hallelujah. We arrived at 9:40 and enjoyed excellent service. It was surprising that over ten other patrons were there during our stay, despite the late hour. The place allowed people to enter right up until 10, how nice. The only downside is that there are very few options for the lactose-intolerant crowd. Absolutely the worst managed Baskin Robbins we've ever been to. They are constantly out of flavors when we go (usually Wednesdays and Sundays). Once we went and they even had a note on the front door stating all of the flavors they were out of ! Once we asked one of the workers why this was (on a Sunday) and she said that they get their shipments on Mondays and so that's why they are always out on Sundays. That makes no sense at all ! So here we are on a Sunday and they have all of these new advertisements for these new shakes and sundaes that they just came out with and they didn't have the ice cream to make ANY OF THEM! Now we call ahead, or just skip it altogether! Other problems are no pints for a month, there's a sign saying the pint freezer is busted; yet there's almost no product in the other freezers that do work! read more

In this crazy new world of self-serve fro-yo shops, fast food soft serve drive throughs, artisinal ice cream boutiques and gourmet gelatto cafes, one place has stood the test of time and geography. And that place is Baskin Robbins, baby. My kids love BR. Pavlovian, they head there after Sunday night family dinners at La Fonda and eat their ice cream outside, while occasionally scaling the poles along the sidewalk. The high school employees serve up a great assortment of cold scoopable treats, their prices are reasonable, they don't care if you're a grownup and order a kid's cone, and in addition to new-fangled concoctions like the turquoise and purple "Wild & Reckless," they have tried-and-true flavors that I was ordering back when I was a kid. I love the nostalgia that comes along with that--that we can have this shared experience here in San Antonio even though I was getting scoops of bright lime green Daquiri Ice (also my 6-year-old's favorite) just up I-35 in San Marcos in the late '70s and beyond. My grandfather's favorite was Pralines n' Cream, and sometimes I order a kid's cup and think of him. My mother's favorite is (and always has been) Lemon Custard, and sometimes my daughter orders it, even though it's not her favorite, just so she can share pink plastic spoonfuls with my delighted mom.
