I recently went to Pittsburgh Oral Surgery located on Fort Couch Road, Pittsburgh, PA for a tooth…read moreextraction and consultation regarding possible tooth implant. As far as dental office visits go, my recent visit went really well. Although I have been to Pittsburgh Oral Surgery for prior dental work this was my first visit to their Fort Couch Road office. Normally I go to their Monroeville, PA office, rescheduled my appointment because of work related scheduling problems. Arrived approx. 7:00 AM for an 8:30 AM appointment and was warmly greeted and made to feel "right at home." The person working in the office asked me to update my existing on-file information. I asked if there was a place in the building to get a cup of coffee, she promptly offered to make me a cup; it was very good and appreciated. After returning the paper work a short wait ensued and then a dental assistant escorted me back to the place where the procedure would take place. The room was exceptionally clean with a great view out of a large window; all of the furniture and equipment seemed up-to-date and in a good state of repair. Next, I met Dr. Eric Smiga; he greeted me with a great smile and positive demeanor. He explained the upcoming procedure, reviewed my paperwork and x-ray, examined my tooth, discussed the potential implant, injected some painkiller, made sure I was comfortable and said he would return after a few minutes. In the interim, another person came in to explain costs and insurance terms & conditions; a very transparent and upfront process -- no surprises. Shortly thereafter Dr. Smiga returned for the "main event." He gave me an "insurance" injection of painkiller and proceeded to remove the tooth. Before I knew it, the procedure was complete and the dental assistant was explaining post extraction procedures that should be followed. Someone in the office called my prescription (an antibiotic) into my local pharmacy and I was good to go. Before leaving the office, arranged for a 1-week follow-up appointment with Dr. Smiga at their Monroeville office to make sure everything was healing the way it should. Someone, don't remember whom, suggested taking an over the counter pain pill as a proactive defense against pain when the procedure painkiller wore off. No problem had some Tylenol in the car. After arriving at my car, took a pain pill from my backpack and glanced at my watch before heading off to work -- it was 8:20 AM. I was out of there before my appointment was scheduled to start. Follow-up; took one Extra Strength Tylenol three times 6-hours apart after the extraction and have remained pain free, no issues. Had my follow-up visit this morning -- no problems, everything looks good. I don't think anyone looks forward to going to the dentist, but from beginning to end, Pittsburgh Oral Surgery made this a very positive experience.

Wow...just blown away by the care. So...let me first say I wasn't a fan...I was actually quite…read moreannoyed, but attempted to stay positive. My son (who is 23...but let's face it mom's...still my cub) had to have his 4 wisdom teeth out. His appointment was supposed to be at 1045, they called him at 10 saying, "so we're behind schedule, we'll need you to come in at 3:30" !!!!!! Without thinking he says ok and calls me; however, while we were on the phone, he was like wait I have to call them back to see if I can eat. He called back and they said "oh...well just be here for 1145". We were finally seen around 1pm, and folks let me just tell ya, this mama has been by her boys side thru every surgery...even sitting bedside in the OR once because she didn't trust the Doogie Howser looking Dr (now you also know how old I am lol!)...and it was rough not knowing what was going on for the 2hrs he was back there. Finally I was called back, and they said he did great, the Dr spoke with me saying his roots were rough, but that my son did great and everything went well. Fast forward to 5 1/2 hrs later...he's STILL bleeding!! Like not just a little, like a lot. We had went thru the small amount of gauze pads they send you home with and a whole box that I picked up!! I finally called the office as they told us to if we had any issues...not expecting what was next. The actual oral surgeon, Dr Khan, called us back via his on-call nurse and then...this is when we became blown away...he said I'll see you in the office in 15mins!!! Wait what?!?! It's now almost 10pm on a Friday night!!! You're going to meet us in the office, not "oh he'll be fine, I'll see him in the morning...do this, this or that"....not "ok take him to the ER"....he said..."I will see you in the office in 15mins!" WOW...just WOW! And then the care he gave my son at the office, and treated him as if he was his own...absolutely priceless. Please give this place a try, and if the front office looks like they're having a rough morning...it has no bearing on the surgeon, the anesthesiologist or the nurses...the front office was just overwhelmed and doing the best they could with the emergency events that took place and still trying to make everyone happy around them. I appreciate them all a little more today and a huge THANK YOU shout out to Dr Khan...more Dr's need to follow in his steps!

Traveled quite a way to be treated so poorly and turned back but it's UPPER ST CLAIR and we are black so nothing unusual in that part of town.

What brought us to Dr. Barroner was my 16-year-old- son's four impacted wisdom teeth. He had two 12-year molars that had not yet erupted due to these gargantuan-ass teeth sitting in their way. His Orthodontist, Dr. Troy, had recommended two surgeons, but I got the better vibe from Dr. Barroner's office. That may be due to the office Wonder Woman known as Rose. In fact, everyone in that office is friendly and professional. Because my son is diabetic, we had some extra prep to do. and we were well informed in advance of what needed to be done before, during, and after the visit. The surgery went smoothly - skilled, quality work done right. They even let us come back in to allay concerns about what we thought was extra bleeding (which was normal bleeding, I guess we were just nervous nellies!) She then followed up the next day to find out how he was and let us know we could call her anytime if we have any problems or questions. I'm so glad we chose to use Dr. Barroner for the wisdom tooth extraction. If you need an oral surgeon, and you go anywhere else, you're a total bonehead. I usually attach photos, but I don't know what I would put here. You probably don't want to look at his teeth, which we did get to take home. Thank you, Dr. Barroner and the rest of the staff at Elevated Oral & Implant Surgery!
