It was a generous portion size so I left full. The tea was really good perfect amount of sweetness and the bowl had amazing flavor, I definitely liked the sauce that comes on the side. The eating area was nicely decorated with multiple sized tables throughout. They do not have a lot of storage so they have boxes in the hallway leading to the bathroom. Could put some sort of decorative cabinets to put those items in so it does t look cluttered. Staff bring the food to you so it's nice and fresh. Would definitely eat here again and again. read more

Staff was super friendly and helpful. I couldn't decide between the garlic beef noodles and the spicy beef soup. They recommended the garlic beef noodles, which were absolutely phenomenal, but also brought me a sample of the spicy soup broth, which was also delicious and I will definitely be getting next time. Counter service was nice and efficient. Bun Bo Hue was almost too spicy to enjoy. Although husband thought it was great. I was made to wait a few minutes for my Shaken beef while my husband ate. I liked the self serve veggie bar for the pho. Everything looked fresh. My beef was well flavored and came out warm. The pork belly shrimp rolls were a tad disappointing...the pork belly was more like a paper thin piece of just. Inside was bright and clean. I'm totally digging Basil & Sprout. They have a lot of good things going on. We LOVE that it's a quick service/self serve restaurant with an outdoor patio. Excellent Brekkie/lunch place. First of all their unsweet Jasmine Green tea is my favorite tea in town. It's very strong, hubby & I both are totally diggin it. The chargrilled Chicken rice & egg bowl is YUGE. It comes with two pieces of Chicken, a yummy Fresh salad & perfectly cooked rice & egg. A staple at my house. We eat this dish at home all the time bc it's simple. The simplest things in life are always the best. (We rotate the (protein) with various chicken/pork/beef/duck/seafood weekly) They do offer a Chargrilled pork chop & ribeye option, but no pork belly, duck, filet mignon or seafood etc., unfortunately. Maybe they could add a grilled shrimp or pork belly option in the future? "Hint Hint" Just a thought :)... The Bún bò Huế is good. The salty sweet broth is a little on the sweet side for moi & not enough lemongrass flavor but it's good. We added the short rib and it was excellent. Next time we will just get the short rib with the short rib. Totally diggin it. The garlic noodles are fantastic when you don't BURN THE GARLIC in them y'all! Right now every vampire is going to drop dead for 100 mile radius as I now have garlic fire dragon breath with subtle notes of charcoal. Please do not burn the GARLIC. Other than that it was perfection. haha. The little "Shrimp in a blanket"' rolls could use a little more seasoning but they are also very nice with the fish sauce condiment. I'm a Viet/French Chef & i'm impressed y'all. Not because i'm killing vampires for a 100 mile radius with my charcoaled Garlic fire dragon breath but bc you nailed the simplest Viet dish of all time. I've been craving banh mi for a while and after doing some shopping nearby, thought I'd give it a try. The restaurant is clean and nice looking. The young man taking orders was very nice and helpful. We ordered a beef banh mi which I thoroughly enjoyed. The bread was super crisp and the flavor was on point. The beef pho was disappointing. I didn't ask, but it looked like chunks of liver were in the pho along with the normal slices of beef. The aroma was off as well. I can't put my finger on it, but it was definitely off. My daughter ordered the beef vermicelli bowl. It was solidly ok. I'm sad to say that after spending about $70, we left wanting. I don't think we'll go back. read more

We had the Buddha Pho. It was good with plenty of vegetables. My only complaint about them is they need to be cut in smaller pieces. There's a condiment bar to dress up your soup! (Bean spouts, basil, cilantro, jalapeños, sriracha, hoisin sauce, etc!) You order at the counter and they'll bring your food to you. You have to get your own beverage from the soda machine. They were very quick with our order. Plenty of seating (even outside). There are some rough edges when it comes to some of the decor (boxes, unused machines, open to brick wall. BUT easily addressed. Where do I even begin? I first discovered this gem a year ago, and from that very first bowl, I was hooked. I live all the way in Mary Esther, but no distance is too far when it comes to the kind of pho they serve here--I happily make the drive every time a craving hits, and I'll continue to do so for as long as they're open. As a cook myself, I tend to be pretty particular about food, but every time I take that first sip of broth here, it's pure joy. Rich, flavorful, comforting--this pho hits every note perfectly. It's not just a meal; it's an experience that leaves you smiling and satisfied. Without a doubt, this is the best pho in the Panhandle. I have been wanting to try this spot for awhile now. My husband is away and I noticed they're on grub hub. It took me awhile to commit at the simple fact $20 for a bowl of pho seems a bit extreme, but for good pho I would happily pay. It arrived nicely packaged and came with sprouts, limes, jalapeños, basil, some green onions,Sriracha packet and hoisin sauce. Microwaveable bowl was a nice touch that most don't offer. I feel as though the amount of noodles and chicken given for $20 was not nearly enough for the price. I'm from California (eek) and as a military family we've moved around enough for me to have my fair share of Pho, I'm by no means superior to others but I do find myself to be a "pho" snob especially coming from the Silicon Valley. With that being said, would I come back for the price and what I received? Probably not. Edit to add: not sure how the chicken is prepared but it is extremely rough and hard to chew. My advice would be: give the broth some more love, add a bit more noodles and use the thinner pho noodles. These ones have a bit of a weird texture after chewing. read more

My husband and I have been here multiple times over the past few months because my pregnancy cravings have been intense and I always want Vietnamese food! Since moving here from Seattle last year, this is our absolute FAVORITE and authentic Vietnamese food spot we've found! The pork spring rolls are something we always order with extra peanut sauce, and the Bao taco's we get every other time because we don't need all of that food with our orders but MANNN THEY ARE SO GOOD! My favorites are the pork options, as well as the peanut noodles with shrimp. The beef pho is also really great. The broth is authentic & the portions are great all around. I also love that they have a self service bar with the sprouts and sauces and whatnot because I am a girl who loves a heavy amount of sprouts and use hoisen sauce with every bite. The jasmine milk tea is my favorite as it tastes like real tea, not powder and has a wonderful floral undertone to it. Baby Reiteration Review Time: Basil and Sprout It has been a little while, since the last time we enjoyed this Vietnamese restaurant. Well during these chilly times, nothing warms this Asian soul like a good bowl of soup. Let's hope this place hasn't lost the fire since it's grand opening? I am so glad to see this restaurant is still thriving, because even at 2:00 the customers are still pouring in. I'm glad to see the super fresh garden bar is still here for your soup, but I still wish the restaurant offered leaf lettuce for the egg rolls. The Vietnamese coffee is beautifully strong here and tasty. Today lacked no luster and packed all the flavor of traditional Vietnamese soul food. The pork egg rolls were perfectly seasoned. The shrimp egg rolls were definitely not what I was expecting, which is basically a version of shrimp tempera. I will say the shrimp egg rolls, even though basic, were very good. I would like to thank the staff for perfecting the fish sauce, because it was definitely spot on today (no sweetness, salty, not watered down, chopped garlic). The Bun Bo Hue and the short rib Pho was amazing again. Both broths were full of flavor; and the BBH had just the perfect spiciness. Just remember to always get the extra short rib here. The short rib is always full of flavor and falls right off the bone. We waited for this place to open, 3 years seems to passed by quickly. We were so excited that they open however was very disappointed. Basil and Sprout offers vietnamese cuisine but doesnt take like one. It lost its authentic taste and certainly did not display its originality when it comes to food. We first ordered their drinks, my favorite: a thai tea and a black milk tea which both taste like water! The thai tea supposed to be a much stonger taste with milk tea but its just taste like water. It's better for me to go to the mall and grab one of those bubba drinks because it taste better! Now, off we go to their appetizer- spring roll. What do you expect when you order a spring roll- tasty meat and tasty sauce to dip but all I tasted was mint. They put too much mint where it doesnt seem like I ordered a spring roll. Their peanut sauce doesnt complement the appetizer at all. Now, the entree. We ordered of course their famous vermicelli and I picked their charboiled pork. The meat taste bland and overcooked. They give small portion of noodles on top of bunch of vegestables. We also ordered pork and chilcken platter. Meat were overcooked and very bland as well. Lastly, the fish sauce. Vietnamese is very popular with their fish sauce but this place is nowhere near authentic. Very salty, doesnt taste like their traditional sauce. Something you wont get to taste if you really go a an authentic vietnamese place. This place is still far away from Tudo or Pho Golden palace who serves delicious vietnamese cuisines. If you ever had real traditional Vietnamese food, then you know the taste is off here. Also the manager there walking around with her all black outfit with a huge Chanel belt acting like she's the queen is not really giving me "home and friendly vibes." I went there and I ordered at the cash register with her and she gave me this immense attitude. I don't know if it's because I'm young or Hispanic or what, but I really didn't like her attitude and she lacked customer service skills. How about you put away your big Chanel belt and put on a smile for your customers, especially when you're just opening. She literally went around to all the tables and asked how their food was, but never came to me and my friend. Regarding the food and atmosphere, it seems like they're trying so hard to be the next LA/hipster Asian modern food hall. But just stick to the basics and produce better quality meals. The beef pho didn't even taste like authentic beef pho. I've had countless of phos before and this place isn't it. I also got their egg rolls and summer rolls, and everything lacked taste. Updating my review less than a year later, one of the very few that I ever review to say that it's been worse since last time I was here. I was picking up a DoorDash order here, and while the staff were friendly, it's very apparent that none of them really knew how to run a restaurant. I think the only guy that I can guarantee was doing his job right was the waiter. No, of course, I do understand the struggles of staffing shortages, and just being overall busy in the in an evening, ain't nothing wrong with that at all. I'm just saying it's quite ridiculous that, you can wait 35 to 40 minutes fo food that you might be quite sure that they never even started on. I watched a man eat the rest of his entire dinner without his sandwich and still never get it in the entire duration of my visit there this is usually what happens when Management let a bunch of teenybopper teenagers run a restaurant. This is one of my favorite spots in Pensacola. We always take friends and family here when they are visiting. The slim Buddha is my go-to but I have had all of their vegan (actually vegan and not vegetarian) and I haven't had anything that was less than delicious. The restaurant itself is always clean and has plenty of places to sit. Never had an issue with that. Everyone here is also very nice and very never mind answering questions.
