I had satisfactory experience's with this auto shop on a couple of other occasions. I called four times and each call was answered in a timely manner. Unfortunately, each call was answered by 'hello' and that was it. They wouldn't respond to any of my questions or say anything. I believe they knew I was going to keep calling and on the fourth try, I spoke to the manager who had not even looked at my vehicle yet. I was calling early enough that I think only the manager would be answering the phones and I'm pretty sure I was speaking to the manager every time I called. They can fix your car when they feel like it.

I dont know anything about cars so I rely on honest mechanics. My household has 4 cars and I took them all to Sunny's. In the past 2 years, I have began to feel that Sunny's may be mis-diagnosing and overcharging for work. One car had the same issue, and I took it to Sunny's 3 different times as the issue never got resolved and I was being charged more and more for each visit. I eventually sold the car. Then, in a different car, a check engine light was on, although the car appeared to run fine, I brought it to Sunny's to diagnose. Sunny's gave an estimate for about $2500. I decided to get a 2nd opinion, and a different shop diagnosed it at about $420 and said many of the parts Sunny's wanted to replace looked fine to them. Needless to say I had the new shop do the work and have been happy.

I brought my 2002 Ford Focus in for two issues, a coolant leak and rough idle which would cause it…read moreto stall out. The coolant leak turned out to be the water pump. Since it is buried beneath the timing and serpentine belts, I had them replace those, too. To address the idle issue, they replaced a vacuum hose that was cracked with age and called it good. When I was about to leave the parking area, I noticed the engine light was still on, so I looped back around. The mechanic just cleared the code instead of addressing it. He said he just forgot to clear it. A day or so later the light came back on. I plugged a code reader in and it came back with a P0302, misfire on cylinder two. This tied into the rough idle and stalling issue that was partially addressed by the hose replacement. It is also something that should have been caught by the mechanic who worked on the car. Now I get to spend eighty dollars for spark plug wires, a coil pack (both of which I would have had to buy anyway), along with time swapping them out myself. While not too difficult to replace, it is just an annoyance that should have been addressed. The other issue, which is more of a suggestion, is that on extensive, multiple day repairs, it would be good if they contacted the customer to let them know the eta. If more times drags on, another call or email would be good to keep the customer in the loop. They had my car for almost a week and in that time I received no status updates. I dropped it off on a Tuesday and finally called the following Monday for a status update. That said, the gal working the desk is quite good and tries to keep costs down for the customer. All told the bill came to a little over $1,000. Update: After I posted my review, Tom's B&M sent me a text offering "a $200.00 refund and free installation of the coil and plug wires if I deleted my bad reviews." I declined and chose to leave this review up because I believe this is important context for anyone evaluating both the repair itself and how customer criticism is handled. I also dropped my review from three stars down to one.
