Several friends and I only use Henok at Basic Auto Repair to maintain & repair our vehicles. My friend's daughter even shuttles her fleet of 10 Touro rental cars back & forth from near Palm Springs just to use Basic Auto Repair in Ontario -- 75 miles each way. If that's not a ringing endorsement then nothing is. I once told Henok to do my rear drum brakes at the same time my front disc brakes were serviced (rotors turned & pads replaced; I was down to metal on metal) and he refused to do the rear brakes because he said they were just fine. More than a couple years later, the rear brakes are still just fine which I again just verified myself. Henok also replaced my transmission 3 or 4 years ago. read more

Good mechanic crowded so turnaround is slow definitely on the expensive side with work and parts

Correct address is 803 E. Holt Blvd. I highly recommend the shop if you value 100% honesty in their word & work done. They care about us little guys & understand money is tight. I've been coming here with my 02 Nissan & 05 Lexus for past 15yrs. Henok & Ismael are very honest, knowledgeable & polite. The shop is busy everytime I've been here, which explains why it's hard to get anyone to answer the phone. So just get yourself (your vehicle) to the shop & you'll be greeted with a smile & won't be turned away. Basic auto needs & repairs for all vehicles, if they're not able to Henok will help you find a reputable place that can help you. Very affordable & the cheapest prices in Inland Empire. read more

Definitely will recommend them to friends and family and be going back if I need future repairs! You guys are great! read more

Henok and Ismael took care of me! Very honest business. They are friendly, quick and helpful. They helped me figure out my car issue without charging an arm and a leg and actually advised against repair because of the age of the car. That's an honest business right there! A+ highly recommended. The correct address is 803 e holt Ontario, they are They are behind Ontarios Amigos laundry. 10/10 service. 10/10 mechanics. They are relocating but this is a shop worth following. Hanok cares for more than your money. The guy took my car in last minute for an oxygen sensor code, to check my AC lines and a coolant leak. Pricing couldn't have been more fair. I am new to Ontario and am blessed to have found such a honest and true mechanic. Also, they work on lowered cars when 6 shops in this area told me they couldn't lift it due to it being so lowered. These guys are the REAL DEAL. THANK YOU BASIC AUTO REPAIR!! read more

This place is great! The service was amazing- always had taken care of our cars! The repair was always done on time!

My neighbor recommended this place for auto repair, he's been going for over 20 years. We had a car radiator that was leaking and the dealership didn't have any openings so we thought we'd give them a try. The location is a bit tough to see with the construction on Holt, but its between the laundromat and the business that looks like a house. Went in early morning on a Tuesday and asked what they would charge for the replacement of the radiator. Henok was quickly able to provide me a quote and even told me that we could be squeezed in same day. The quote seemed reasonable and it included labor. We decided to take the car in and they had it done by the end of the day! Henok was friendly and seemed to genuinely care about getting us back on the road. He was able to explained how the radiator leak happened and showed us the pieces that were found stuck in the radiator that caused the leak. Overall great service and no nonsense prices. I will definitely go back to them for future car service. read more

Always dependable and I don't have to worry that something other than what I went in for, needs repair. Friendly and trustworthy.

I've heard a lot about Basic Auto Service from different people, praising its excellent service, honesty, and fair prices. I decided to give it a shot when my car broke down, and I was amazed by the exceptional service I received. The prices are indeed fair, and I highly recommend it to everyone, whether I know them or not. The staff are wonderful and very honest. read more

This place is a great find! They're always busy but still fit in quick & smaller jobs. Prices are affordable & they're cheaper than any other place I've called/been to in IE, Plus, you get honest answers & quotes NO BS from any of the guys. Monday - Friday 8a-4p & Saturdays 8a-2p. Henok & the guys are all very hard working & friendly. Definitely recommend this place for all your basic vehicle needs. They've been open for the longest time but no need for internet bcz they get by with just word of mouth & recommendations from fellow patrons like myself bragging about them. Great job & Thank you Henok & guys!!! read more

These guys are the best! I'd rather keep them a secret as they're really busy but that's not good karma! Hanok! That's my guy!

I don't trust taking my car any where else. I live in Diamond Bar and will make the commute to Basic Auto for all my vehicle repairs!! Not only is Henok fair and reasonable with his pricing. But he's also very honest and super personable. I've always been warned about going to a mechanic as a female because they tend to take advantage of the lack of knowledge. But Henok and his staff are some of the most honorable people I've ever come across. It's as if they make suggestions/recommendations as if we're their friends/family members. That's a trait I truly appreciate. I went in wanting to do X-Y and Z... but Henok suggested I only do X since that's all that was really necessary. He saved me money and got my little Silver Bullet back on the road. I just wanna thank all of Basic Auto for always being honest and beyond reasonable. Thanks Henok read more

The owner of this place has always given me an honest deal. I have taken almost every car I have ever had to these guys over the last 20 years from the beat up old cars I had a kid to newer cars I had as an adult and always gotten good service and a decent price. This shop is owned by a hard working man that does good business. I wish I lived closer to this place so I could take my cars to them more often. The only negative reviews would be from people that are having a hard time because they are so busy. They are busy because they do a good job and are honest. read more

I found this place by checking the yelp reviews and read all the positive feedback. I'm glad I came here because they perform very professional work and take good care of your vehicle. Their prices are very reasonable and at times much less than other shops. They are honest with you and won't hesitate to tell you if work is not necessary or if there's a better alternative to a repair. They will even refer you to other shops for services which they don't provide. I highly recommend them to anyone who is weary about mechanic shops... They will earn your trust. read more

I shopped around to find a good price for my water pump on my 2014 Ford Flex .Got quotes like 2,000 or a little less and ( I can't fix it until next week or so ! Frustrated and strapped for cash I found BASIC AUTO . Mr. Henok quoted me 1,100 and took my car in the same day, fixed in 2 days . Basic Auto saved the only family car we have at a price I couldn't believe . On top of the great service my check engine light was on ( I was already aware of it before I turned it in and I already knew what it was for ) he told me why it was on and and investigated online that my catalyst converter is a possible recall from Ford , WOW ! I couldn't believe how honest and helpful Mr. Henok was . He gave me a website to check out and can possibly save me more money on fixing my car with his investigation . I strongly recommend and Back This Business to the fullest! read more

I used to go to Henok years ago and at the time, this was the place to go to for a vehicle inspection or repair. I used to drive into Ontario all the way from Sherman Oaks if that's any indication to how great his service was. Now, he just can't support all the new business anymore and trying to get him to service or even look at your car is an arduous task. The last few times I've called he's referred me to other shops in the area because he's booked solid. Even when I've offered to come back at other times during the week or month. Terrible customer service, especially since he was my go to guy for so many years prior. Unfortunately,I will not be recommending him anymore. read more

I'll just add to the already great reviews. These are my go to guys! HONEST, professional & affordable! All types of work. The manager is top notch! They're always busy for a reason. Go once & they'll be your go to guys too! read more

I was referred here by my friend Dominic. I was ready to give away my escalade but Henok recommended I replace my damaged transmission with a manufacturer rebuild transmission. He gave a good price. He also completed a smog check and oil change. My car is running like new. I'm very happy. First time I ever feel good leaving a mechanic. I've been driving the car for three weeks and happy with the car. Thank you Henok. read more

Horrible experience on 06/11/20 I brought my truck for 1 problem, but their diagnostic was that my truck needed more than I thought, I said okay if my truck needs all this this repairs go for it! They did the following jobs... Remove and replace: Cabin and Air Filter (Cabin air filter (N)) Remove and Replace: Timing Cover Gasket Set (Timing cover gasket set (N)) (Serpentine belt (N)) (Water pump assembly (N)) Remove and Replace: Valve Cover Gasket Set (Valve cover Gasket Set Spark plug irandium (N)) And couple more things they fix according to the bill statement $2,130.00. On 9/6/20 I picked up food from a restaurant a couple minutes after I had my truck parked and with the switch still on I heard something on the engine I immediately turned off my truck and I open the hood, when I saw the belt broken and a lot of water on the ground. 2 days later I called them and they told me to bring the following day because they were very busy, I did I didn't heard from them until 9/12/20 just to let me know to pick up the truck that it was fix, when I asked them if it covered their 90 day job warranty they said (NO), they fixEd their own poor quality job and ended up Charging me $120 more and also they delayed fixing my truck because I brought my truck on 09/09//20 and they call me on 09/12/20 just waiting on the warranty to expire so they can charge me more. I asked my father if he could help me with my truck taking in to the mechanic, because I have had bad experiences with mechanics before and little that I knew that they also took advantage of my father a 67 year old grandpa. I can't believe that shops like this are still in business they wait until the last minute to do the job in order for you to pay more, well actually I now understand why they still are in business and claim it was your car and not them, they are doing poor jobs on purpose in order for you to keep coming back to them, they also make your car last long enough until the warranty expires so they can charge you. I personally wouldn't recommend this mechanic because they are inconsistent and waited until the 90 day warranty to expire to give me my car back to charge me more. I believe that there is a lot of good and honest mechanics, unfortunately this is not one of them. I wouldn't give this place any stars but I feel obligated because they fortunately gave my car back to me. read more

This place is wonderful. The first time we took our car to Henok, I was surprised at his honesty. My wife dropped off the car and I told her to let me do one of the two things that was wrong with it. She told him to go ahead and do both so I called a little upset. He had already begun and actually offered to take everything back out and replace the old stuff with no charge! I said he could finish and he offered to let me see what his guys were doing to show their quality. Been going there ever since and I have no plans to stop. The only problem is that he gets REALLY busy because once he lands a customer, he keeps them! In fact I almost want to give him one star so I can have him all to myself! read more
