Our 1st grader!
Sara R.

Our 1st and 3rd grade boys are big baseball fans (and play spring and summer ball) and we were looking for something for them to do in the fall to keep their skills up. We heard about BashBall through our rec league. Our kids watched the YouTube on it and wanted to try it. They LOVE it! They look forward to Sunday BashBall all week! The owners and coaches are incredibly friendly, energetic and knowledgeable and the game moves very fast so it keeps the kids engaged. They get to focus on lots of at bats and fielding which is so important at their age. We are so happy we decided to do BashBall this year! We will be back next year!

Are you young, new to the city, and like meeting new people?…read more Then WAKA Kickball is for you! I've been playing for 5 years now. There are several days you can play, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday. Each Day of the week has a different vibe and level of competition. I mainly play on Sundays which is a little less competitive than other days. And it gives me enough time to recover. After the games we head to our sponsor bar to hang out, drink, and play flip cup. There are usually 2-3 parties that happen every season as well. I've made some of my best friends playing kickball. You should too!

Really fun and really great way to meet new people in a new city (or when you want to make new…read morefriends in the city you've lived in for awhile). Every league is different, so it's worth trying a few if you don't like the first one you are in. The kickball is fun but it works really well when paired with the drinking games after. The most important thing is to find a league where the post-game bar is on a night where you can afford to drink and is easy to get home from (i.e. no driving necessary). A good post-game means it doesn't matter whether you are on a team that loses every game. There is a mix of players and some have played for a few years and understand the strategies and have experience, while others are just starting out. Signing up as a free agent is pretty random, so you can get placed on a completely new team or as filling out an established squad. Most people are generally friendly and welcoming (beer does that to you).

Kidz Love Soccer is a wonderful program for toddlers! My four year old some started this program…read morealmost one year ago and is really enjoying it. Many of his preschool classmates play a more competitive soccer league (local LMYA), but I don't think my son is quite ready for that yet. Instead of scrimmages and soccer games, Kidz Love Soccer focuses more on fun games (for example, my son's favorite is "ice cream cone" where they have to collect as many balls as ice cream onto their cones). The reason why I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because Coach Mike is no longer coaching there. He was the most fabulous coach and so good at child development. He knew every child's name and their disposition. He helped encourage those (like my son) who were not outgoing to get out there. At the same time, we was able to challenge those who were more advanced. The new coaches seem good, too. It's just that Coach Mike left some pretty large shoes to fill...

Kidz Love Soccer is by far the worst program. The two female "coaches" who teach the class do not want to be there and are just going through the motions. They lack energy, do not project their voice, are boring, and do not even attempt to engage or get to know the kids. The games/drills are repetitive with no creativity. What am I paying for? Soccer Stars is MUCH MUCH better! Stay away and save your money! So disappointing!

Review for Adult Male Basketball Only -…read more Pleasant Hill rec sports is a good place to work out your aggression and competitive fire on the bball court. There are generally three levels of competition with 10 games each season, and playoffs for the top 4 to 6 teams. The games are fun and most of the teams/players are friendly. Keep in mind, individual player stats are not recorded, so this league is strictly for those who want to come and play to win, not for individuals who want to boast their egos. The fees are reasonable, about $80 per person if you have a 8 to 10 person squad, and it's pretty well organized. The only issues i have: *The refs are rather inconsistent, which can be very frustrating at times * The scorekeeping is also inconsistent, so it requires your teammates on the bench to make sure points are given to the right team * Scores are not updated weekly on the website, but rather sporadically. However, a paper copy is available every week in the gym to see team standings I'd recommend anyone who wants to play organized bball to give it a try here. Keep in mind the stuff about the refs and the scoring, but overall it's pretty fun. My overall score would be 3.5 stars

At our first game of the summer, the grass was thigh high (I'm only 5'1", so you can only imagine!) and the fires were still going on all over Cali. Maybe it was the smokey air, or the thigh-high grass... but I had the worst experience trying to play soccer!! I've been playing for over 10 years, and I couldn't believe how much I felt like a novice stepping onto that field. Thankfully, the parks dept cut the grass by the next game, but it was still high on my ankle!! What is with this crap? I can't believe I'm paying $12 more on top of the regular fee because I don't even live in Pleasant Hill. Parks and Rec need to get their crap together.
